Another Mayan 2012 thread, since we drag closer to the date, I'd thought it be fun to see what other people think about this.

So if the world were to end on Friday, how would you feel about it? I don't mean like "OH SHIT! I'M GOING TO DIE!" I mean just the thought about us as a species no longer existing.

Are you happy that the planet can finally return to peace with out Human's ruining it?
Do you feel apathetic because we were bound to kill each other off sooner or later?
Are you sad because you think the human race could of accomplished so much more?

Personally, I feel like "Eh, we had a good run." would of been nice if we had managed to sort out all our social issues before doomsday and learned to play nice with everyone but I think we about have run our course anyway. Next 100 years were slowly going to become more and more robotic anyway.

I don't really feel worthy of the life I have been given, so if I die on the 21st I would accept that completely as both humanities and my personal punishment.

Sad really, for all our flaws there isn't much better anywhere else in the universe and there's so much more we can achieve given time. Overall I have to say the human race is a pretty awesome species and I hope we get millennia to perfect ourselves ever further. Besides, if the human race was wiped out, what would I have to take over then? JoJo, Lord of the Squirrels... just doesn't have the same ring does it?

Speak for yourselves, i'm far too good looking to die.

If the world starts ending on Friday then the last thing on my mind is humanity....

I won't get to see the final series of Spartacus .... now that's a tragedy.

I'd toss a coin. Heads, I order an NCR ranger veteran uniform right away to prepare to shoot anyone who tries to take advantage of the situation to exploit their fellow man. Tails, I order a Roman legionary replica uniform and exploit my fellow man.

Well it would suck. I'm only a second year law student.. don't even get to be a lawyer.
But on the other hand... I've got a gf, I've had a pretty awesome life...
But I will be sad about not seeing metal gear rising, ground zeroes and V :(.
As to what I'd do?
depends... Floods? Brussels is at more or less 180m higher than the sea level so I'm cool.
Meteorites? Earthquakes? any other form of impending random doom?
Highway to hell on full blast... Drinking Whisky and a coke...
Playing my last game of whatever wearing my finest clothes and my limited jordans that have never been out of the box ^^.

How I would feel about it is kinda irrelevant, because I would be dead.

However, I'm not one of those `ugh humanity` people.
There were a bunch of people moaning on mapchat in GW2 about how humanity `totally deserves to die`. That kind of stuff just makes me roll my eyes.
I like humanity.
I like being alive.
To suddenly become otherwise would certainly be a downer.

Well damn. That's an awful shame. I'd be quite sad, I want to move in with my boyfriend next year. Hell I haven't even gotten to playing Guild Wars 2. That would mean no more A Song of Ice and Fire books, and no more of the TV series! As for what I'd do, I don't know, I'd spend the time thinking "Well, that's a little bit of a downer, isn't it?"

Huh. There was this one bok I'd been wanting to finish, and this one manga, and I wouldn't have minded finding a girlfriend. But apart from that, well, we're all gonna die someday, Lord, we're all gonna die someday...

I never understood the whole "limited jordans that have never been out of the box" thing and I am a big shoe person. I understand wanting to keep shoes looking clean and fresh, but I could not imagine buying shoes and not dieing to wear them. I buy shoes to wear.

Also it is always jordons or some other kind of trainer by a sports guy or rapper. I am biased in the sense that I don't think those shoes look very good, but to each their own. I guess it bugs me because I hear people around where I live say that exact same sentence, but they say it with a great deal of pride. Like they are talking about the size of their cock.

So what is it about keeping shoes in a box for you? I get that they are limited and probably rare, but they are SHOES, to be worn. I mean I do kind of understand it, I guess I understand really loving something simply for what it is and how it looks and what it represents to you. Like a trophy or a painting. I dunno, tell me your opinion on the matter? :p

Until Danyal's Singularity happens, we're all bound to die someday, so I wouldn't be too worried about the world ending this Friday. I've never been much of a big picture guy, anyway, I prefer to keep to my general area.

Well the Uni work that I'm currently procrastinating over would be out of my life, so I'd guess I'd be one happy bunny really.

Sure, I'd be dead, but that's not the point.

Because for me it's a collectors piece. Jordan released some pretty exclusive sneakers. Same as for the watchlover he'll never wear a real Tourbillion outside never mind putting on an authentic skeleton face on his wrist. I also have the Limited hardcover from Spider-man from 2008 election day. It still has the plastic on it. Same as people have star wars figures that are still mint in box. Or people who keep the limited collectors edition from LOTR mint in box. As for why I'm keeping them in the box? They're rare... they're my most expensive pair of anything to go on my feet xD, they have sentimental value my girlfriend bought them for me the first Christmas we were together, but most of all... I never, EVER thought I'd own a pair. I live in Belgium, Footlocker only released jordans last year over here, and just the main line ones. My girlfriend had a relative buy them and ship them over.
I guess I'm just a sucker for collectors items. Same as I framed my dad's original 1985 live aid concert tshirt and hung it above my pc. Which hangs next to my mums michael jackson LP's... yes I also confiscate my parent's cool stuff :p

aw come on, you all know that none of us are cool enough for the world to end in their lifetime.

on the other hand if it did, I like people, so I'd be pretty depressed for it to end just when we are at the start of a new technological age.

I'd be pissed knowing that I just spent my last weekend EVER sick with a migraine. Seriously, I was going to make SO MUCH CHAINMAIL this weekend :(

Therefor if the world DOES end on Friday I intend to go into supervillain mode for however many hours we've got left, and take my frustrations out on the rest of you. >=D

Seeing as how it's not going to happen, this discussion seems pretty moot. But we're here anyways, so what the hell.

Really I wouldn't give a damn one way or the other. This planet has a history of mass-extinctions of the apex species, and we're next on the chopping block. No other species has been able to prevent its mass-extinction, and apparently we would have failed at doing so as well. So when our time's up, our time's up. Nothing anyone of us can do about it so why bother getting upset about it?
