I dunno, Im not a big fan of watching thousands of people loose their jobs out of spite. If their product isnt up to snuff I wont buy it. If they have business practices that I dont like or are anti-consumer Ill boycott their product like I did with ME3. However Im not one to boycott a product just because. I believe good games should be rewarded with sales and I believe bad games should be ignored and left to fall into obscurity (or be mocked relentlessly for how bad they are).

Im not a fan of watching talented people struggle to eat because another company had bad business practices

I think a better way of saying it, is instead of letting AAA developers drain your money with microtransactions and useless DLC and preordering ect. because they "need more money" don't. Buy the game after it's release if it has a ton of dlc wait for the ultimate edition, if it looks like crap don't buy it, if it has micro-transactions ignore them if they are gamebreaking don't buy it ect. And if those companies really can't make a profit without them who cares it's their own damn fault.

Let the AAA's die as is the nature in business. Today's pioneers will be tomorrows AAA producers. Some of us are old enough to remember when the current giants were once fairly humble studios. EA with things like Pinball Construction set, The Bards Tale or Populace. Blizzard with the Lost Vikings or the original Diablo. Activision as the young upstart making third party Atari cartridges. Valve noted for making a few really really good games. Today's Indies who figure out how to bring good games to market for a low cost and market them well will surpass the lumbering behemoths such as EA. We have already started to see the weaker ones fall. Keep an eye on producers such as Notch and Rovio and a host of others. Within today's Indies lie tomorrows industry leaders.

Naw, I enjoy enough games that fall into this category to keep them around.

Indie, AAA, niche...variety for all.

Exactly this. Being AAA doesn't make a game bad. Support the products and policies that you like and don't support the ones that you don't like.

Exclusively indie games though? No thanks. Indie games can be great (there's a whole bunch of crap there too) but I want to enjoy the huge, impressive games that are possible due to the enormous sums of money thrown at developers as well.
