I would love for some sort of apocalypse to happen, as I think a fresh start for humanity is in order. However, it comes with a price. I was just diagnosed with diabetes, and am now on insulin four times a day to moderate my blood suger levels. Sure, dieting helps control it, but in the event of societal collapse, I would find myself scavenging for medical supplies.

Eventually, those would run out, and I would have to make do as best as possible. In all likely situations, I would be able to survive for awhile witht he skills I have obtained in my life, but the simple lack of advanced medicine would be my downfall.

Therefore, I would make it my post collapse goal to put into place a new medical research facility that could cater to the survivors.

:O You linked to Cracked! That's like linking to TV tropes [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HomePage]!
OT: Yeah, a big part of me wants the apocalypse. It'd be interesting, something would happen. Also, if we would survive through it we could great a better world.

An excuse to mow down the ***** at the store who tries to shortchange me? HELL YES!!! My apocalypse survival plan involves lots of neck snapping while i collect food (to save those poor people from starving without the food im stealing) and then dying in a blaze of glory (setting fire to my stolen food so others can't have it)... all im waiting for now is some kind of zombie virus

I would be interested to count in seconds how long some of those "i'd love an apocalypse" tools survive.

Especially those "I've played CoD, i'd slay anything that tries to kill me" fools.

I have my stop watch ready.

Remember that some folks that say that are between 15 and 25 and the most conflict they have seen is Big Bob at school, college, university giving them a daily wedgie.

Would I survive much longer?

Depends entirely on the type of disaster we're looking at. I have 12 years of Army life and experience to fall back on but that wouldn't help me for shit in a nuclear war. I can survive (as I already have) in nearly any person to person combat scenario but against giant warheads of doom? Probably not.

Zombies?

Having only killed zombies in video games and having no idea how that would work in the real world i'm going to go ahead and say i'm not even going to try. I'd find a big bloody boat and live at sea. Drop anchor of coast somewhere and dinghy into port to sneak around for supplies. If they are the stupid, shuffling zombies then it would be a lot easier. If it's the 28 days later Rage infected type of person then I have no idea.

Aliens?

Depends entirely on their technology. If they have giant beams of death and blast us to dust from the air then it's been nice knowing you folks but we're all fucked. If they do a land invasion then, again, depends entirely on their technology.

Godzilla?

He'd probably stand on me as I tried to get his autograph. Love the old Godzilla movies.

It is all about your imagination. Sure, I want to be a lone wanderer epic. I also want to be a knight, a medieval age smith, a doctor, homeless(dont go too much into that one). But would I enjoy it? No. I just like to imagine myself as being even more awesome than I already am. /egoflex

Ever read Revelations? Heard of Jesus' Second coming? That's supposed to happen sometime around an apocalypse. Biblical scholars have been studying Revelations for centuries and it still eludes them - pretty much all we know is that it uses a ton of symbolism to describe an apocalyptic event where God comes and saves his people. And I don't think it's the same kind of apocalypse depicted in Fallout or The Book of Eli or other such works.

A lot of that symbolism also refers to the fall of the Romans, who persecuted Christians. Oh, this really isn't a topic I can cover very well in a forum post...
Well revelations wasn't written by God now was it? Humans wrote it. So it is essentially worthless as a source of information if you're trying to determine what God is planning.

Also your somewhat off-topic statements didn't answer my question in the slightest, and the question remains:

Why would God in his "infinite wisdom", CHANGE any of his divine plans because some little Christian ask him to? I mean they are DIVINE plans after all, it's pretty safe to assume that there's no stopping or changing them just because some insignificant human wants them to be changed, stopped or altered in any other way.

On topic, I really don't want any of our fictional apocalypses. Why on Earth would I give up the comfort of this world as it is now for a struggle to survive just so I can feel like a "badass"? Especially when the chances are that if the apocalyptic event doesn't kill me, the later disease and murderous lunatics probably will?
Have you ever truly felt "badass"? And I mean in an actual real-life way, not because you managed to kill a "boss" in a videogame. Who knows, perhaps you'd like it enough to find all those comforts of this world to be worthless in comparison to that feeling.

Hm, well ever since I started playing Prototype again I've been having dreams about destroying the world with blade-arms and massive tentacle devastation powers, so I guess I kinda do want it to happen, if only subconsciously...

I wouldnt want the apocalypse.
I would wanna be able to STOP the apocalypse.
Me and a couple of other psychopaths with no desire to live save the world from an total destruction by an alien society controlled by theyre media.
The show were on would pit us(a bunch of randomly picked out humans from all over the world) against a race of beings that curiously remind me of baddies from several videogames. So basically what im getting at with this is that i beat a Tank from the Left 4 Dead series to death with a pair of brass knuckles and kill a bunch of the tier 1 and 2 creeps from DMC3 with a scythe.
And then all my allies would be like a f*%$ed up national stereotype(the chinese girl is wearing a chinese dress and is great at martial arts etc.)
And then the final climactic fight against the end boss(who is a weird arse demonic knight who is wearing red and black armor and uses a weird big-arse-sword) i would use an object which i received as a reward for kicking so much evil alien buttocks that my boots need to be shined to summon an army of fictional superheroes to my aid... And then die in the process.

So many misspellings that im too lazy/stupid to fix.

Well I WAS looking forward to a zombie apocolypse, but the recent Dead Island has shown me exactly how challenging that experience could be. There's far fewer weapons lying around my area, and considering I'm either at home or at work, there's little chance of me getting a heads up before the invasion starts. They'd either be swarming my shopping centre or bashing down my door before I had any time to prepare.

As for any other kind of apocolypse? Meh. What other kind is there? Nuclear? Meteor? Gobal freeze? All pretty boring stuff that I don't see as very fun to live through. If it happens, I'd fight on if it's viable, but otherwise fate is fate.

well I don't necessarily want an apocalypse, but that said, I think a world-threatening event like alien invasion or something would ultimately be best for humanity. the best way to bring people together is to give them a really good enemy

I would LOVE the apocalypse. But only if 'I don't want to set the world on fire' was playing in my head all the time.

Zombie apocalypse, yes. I maintain that a global zombie apocalypse or hostile alien invasion are the only things left that can truly unite the world.
You realise that "Apocalypse" implies that we are all wiped out, correct? We would be united only to be completely destroyed...

No bills, no jobs, no fookin police trying to extort my smokes. Apocalypse? I say yea!

Though it wouldsuck in a manner, many of those I have known for years would be killed in the first week ( myself included sadly) with the survivors being the people who can gather the most followers (religious or whatever)

No you don't understand the misanthrope thing then. The hatred of an entire species isn't really an individual thing. I don't hate people as individuals but what they are as a species and a collective. So I can still have loved ones and "favourites" without being a hypocrite actually.

Because with the prospect of an apocalypse, it pretty much include the extermination of ALL humans (including my "favourite" ones), and of course my own death.

Im completely "all or nothing" when it comes to that, so no a hypocrite I am not...
