lets debate it now, what is the next pointless study that will make the news here?

So what is next? It seems like this has been pointless uses for science week so what will be the next item to make many of us go "this is what these people are getting paid to research?" or "how bored must these people be to study this!"
Maybe scientists have just discovered a way to make flatulence smell like cinnamon rolls, or groundbreaking discovery: sweating makes you smell bad. Or maybe it will be an analysis of why pie tastes good.
So come on and through your own ideas out for the next completely pointless study.

The Pointless Study Institute of Albuquerque recently released findings on the enigmatic force known as "Gravity." It turns out that it effects everything in the known universe not only buttered toast and small children as was previously reported.

This just in: Being an asshole DECREASES your chance with a woman? Find out at Eleven.

And, tomorrow at eight! Does toast really always land butter-side up?

Who knows? Maybe they'll look at the "why french fries smell good" study, realize it's useless, and do a worthwhile study. And maybe my ass will sprout wings and fly me into space!

If being an asshole decreases your chances with a woman, than not being an asshole decreases it even more.

Either way, you lose.

This isn't made up, I assure you. I read a headline that said UCLA grad students did a study that said C-sections done closer to the baby's due date are healther for the baby. The lesson: Go to UCLA. It's easy apparently (no offense to any actual UCLA students - I know it's a tough school.)

this thread depresses me on many different levels.

but on the bright side the competition dosen't look very stiff in the area of research these days, which is a comforting thought to those of us who nurse dreams of future grandeur in the fields of scientific study.

How about what [http://gizmodo.com/5101522/barack-obama-uses-a-zune] he [http://www.crunchgear.com/2008/12/04/barack-obama-zune-user/] listens [http://www.nypost.com/seven/12052008/news/politics/obama_zune_acy_142804.htm] to [http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/dec/05/barack-obama-microsoft-zune]. Man, is it just the media or do Americans genuinly care about these things? (and that is how I put it after I thought I don't want to incur a mod's wrath).

Also, "Why school is boring" should turn up quite interesting results, as the researchers are probably going to ask teachers, psychologists, "experts", parents, more teachers and forget all about the students!
