Did you ever watch Power Rangers as a kid?
If you did, what was your favorite series? Favorite song, favorite character, etc.

(PS How do I embed videos and pictures?)

Never. I never liked them, I couldn't get past the fact that the bad guys looked like they'd just hopped out of my toybox.

I very vaguely remember watching Mighty Morphing Power Rangers, so of course remember the theme music. Can't remember which one I liked the most. Probably the Red Ranger. Everyone loves the Red Ranger.

I also remember noticing that the fights with the giant dudes were just people in suits. I think I stopped watching soon after.
That was a terrible day of my childhood...

Go Red Ranger!

I watched the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers up to the point I couldn't stand the sparks accompanied with super overacting whenever they got hit.

For some reason I hated those sparks.

I encourage everyone who was ever even remotely a fan to check out the last completed season, "Power Rangers RPM."

Its an excellent series featuring a blend of action and storytelling the early years could only dream of.

Ah, loved the power rangers. The pink ranger was actually my first crush as a little kid. To be honest, I've got to say that five year old me had shocking good taste in girls.

I really liked the movie with "Ivan Ooze"

Fun fact, I still get chills when I hear "It's morphin' time" I also watched the movie not all that long ago.

Oh? Are we discussing my childhood? :D

I freakin LOVED the power rangers as a kid. The REAL ones. I'm talking Mighty Morphin power rangers here, before they became a rescue unit, then went to space, then went turbo, then got involved in aliens, then lived on a space colony, then...then......where are they are now? (PS, I realize my order is wrong). Not knocking against Galaxy and Space, though. Those were good too, but the first concept was better (Right around when they brought in the green ranger. That whole arc with Tommy was pretty cool)

Honestly, what I liked most about the old series was that they were normal people. They were trying to finish school, and deal with their own personal issues while ALSO having to bear the burden of saving the world every freakin week. I really liked that. It made them feel more real than when power rangering became a full time job. Plus, it was just plain fun, and funny. And the villains were great (the banter between Rita Repulsa and Zed made me crack up all the time).

Seriously, turn back the series to the old story style (bunch of normal young adults dealing with their lives while also having to save the world on top of that), and have better fight scenes (I admit right up front how terrible the fight scenes were in the old one), and I would most likely give it a look.

....In fact, I can honestly say that the second SNES power rangers game ("power rangers the movie" Despite having NOTHING but the last boss in common with the movie) was one of the games I loved to play most at my best buddy's house. And I still go back to it whenever I want a good retro beat-em-up.

And to answer your original questions:
favorite series? Mighty Morphin (Starting right around the time they brought in Tommy/green/white.)
Favorite song: The original theme. I have it on my Ipod, both the original extended version, AND the powerglove remix. And I freakin love it.
favorite character: ...Probably tommy/green/white. He just had an interesting arc. ...Although blue/Billy was probably a VEEEERY close second. He was in EVERY series for such a long time. Plus, he was a nerd who was actually pretty freakin badass.
Fav Villain: ...Rita and Zed working together. Their back and forth banter was hilarious.
Fav weapon: ...The battleax that is also a gun.

The original series and I liked the Green and Red Rangers. The series after that sucked in my opinion. Of course, I was a brain dead kid back then and I'm sure if I watch it now, I would be disgusted at myself for liking that stuff.

Really? That's actually what I heard about the original Red Ranger, though his was the ummmm..... doubly male focused entertainment industry *wink wink*

I've actually seen Amy Jo Johnson in a non-porn role since Power Rangers ended, I think the film was made in 2004.

I checked Wikipedia and IMDB and saw that she's actually been a moderately successful actress since Power Rangers, even winning an award in 2008 for her performance on a show called Flashpoint. With that success, I doubt she turned to porn.

He was probably thinking of the red ranger who, as you said, did indeed go into organized butt-pounding. Perhaps he got the two confused because the idea of her doing pornography sounded far more appealing; so appealing, in fact, that it inspired me to look up what she's done since. I may be a sad little man, but damnit that woman was fine.

OP: If it hasn't been made blatantly obvious already, yes, I did watch Power Rangers. I started at Mighty Morphin' and kept watching until In Space, and damnit was it awesome.

Did I watch it? My first words were Power Rangers! (not joking. FOUR SYLLABLES!)

I don't really have a favourite series or favourite character. Probably slightly older ones. Newer ones aren't as interesting.

Although my favourite episode is probably Forever Red, for the awesomeness.

So I'll mention I have a megazord collection that was considered quite big by everyone since I was a child. I stopped at Operation Overdrive since those Megazords were the quality of oversized mcdoanlds toys and were barely accurate in transformation. Although, the new Samurai Megazord doesn't look too bad so I may get that >>

I was at the age where watching Power Rangers when they came out was very, very uncool. They were FOR KIDS, and I was, maybe 10-11 at that point (obviously not a kid)? And there was one kid who had no friends, drew oddly sexual anime in the corner of the cafeteria who was a Power Rangers fan, which just made it that much less popular.

BUT, I had a little brother who LOVED the show, especially the Pink Ranger. So, it was either watch Power Rangers or nothing at all. And I secretly enjoyed it a little. Most episodes were repetitive, but there were a few overarching story episodes that held my interest. The first movie was actually quite entertaining.

It lost its appeal when they brought out the second movie where the kid with the bowl cut hair became a 6-foot Power Ranger despite being an 8 year old. That was just awful.

By the way, if you didn't know already, the first iteration of the show and several others are on Netflix streaming at the moment. I started watching the Green Ranger episodes (in order, which is cool because I had to piece things together through scattered reruns because my brother had no sense of story continuity). It's mindless, slow, but a nice nostalgia trip.
