To even suggest we change our species name is insulting.....to me anyway.

We are "Humans" and should wear that title with great pride.
Pride is a vice.

Well since any aliens we meet wont speak any of our languages i think we should go for something non specific like :
1. Hrugg
2. awgoj
or even: Asilg
(all can be gotten by mashing keys and they can sound pretty intimidating)

If we were being looked at as anything from our solar system, then Solarians.
If anything from our planet, Terrans.
Then species, Humans.
And so on...

It all depends on what position we're being looked at from, and how much they choose to differentiate us from other species/groups from our planet or solar system.

And vice is what makes our existence so enjoyable.

I think we should stick with human, because it stands as a relative testament to etymology, but if we had to change it, I'd change it to Progenitors, or something deep and meaningful.

Damn Protheans, taking all the cool names.

I enjoy the name of our race. I like playing around with ignorant homophobes because of our Latin name Homo Sapien.

Why? Your name's Jack (I'm hoping), why should you care if your species' title, which nobody really uses, by the way, is changed? It doesn't really change anything. I suppose I wouldn't change my name as it means forfeiting an inherited part of my identity, but human, other than the concept, isn't really tied to our identity, is it? We know no sentient beings who acknowledge us as such (as far as we know, even if we were 'discovered' its doubtful they'd use our name though) so it really has no standing apart from how cool we think it should sound.

I was thinking we call ourselves the flood or covenant to reflect our species general originality. Also, it has the benefit of us spreading throughout the galaxy and eradication other species.
