I love gaming and in uni spent quite a bit of my "food" budget on retro consoles. I'm a real push over when it come to retro gaming because all you have to do is show me them and I'll do what ever it takes to get them. I still stand by my all time favourite console the SNES but lets hear it what do you think, lets hear what consoles you think a good and games but keep it retro we all know the common list of today's games.

Forget games!

I remember my childhood wonder at Godzilla. I makes me wish thinking Godzilla was actually that big and not a rubber suit. And that roar...

I'm only 16, so all my nostalgia goes out to stuff like PS1 games.
Whenever I hear sound-effects from the first Rayman game... the nostalgia is beautiful.
The YEAH! sound he makes at the end of each level...
The hiccup when you take damage...
Those were the days...

First things first I have to get this out the way... the old Godzilla films were epic. Now so far so good we have had some good games, I also loved Star wars battle front 2. I was in the pub last night with my girlfriend trying to explain that conker live & reloaded is just one of these games you just have to play to get it. There was aspects of that games that had me laughing so much I had to turn the game off and walk away because I couldn't physically play it.

Recently blasted my way through the Nod campaign in Command and conquer 1 (tiberium Dawn) and then moved onto Tiberium sun and its exp pack campaigns.

Oh man I was thinking of doing Command & Conquer before I got the first decade box at the start of uni. I'v been over killing generals but I wouldn't mind going back to the older games, couldn't ever get enough of red alert 2.

I like retro games but i'm not really big on the nostalgia thing. Personally I prefer to play old games that I never played as a kid or only scratched the surface as I missed so many great classics as a kid. (thats why I tend to roll my eyes when folk throw the rose tinted card at me in internet debates)

However now and again I still do like to have a walk down nostalgia lane and play a old favorite.

Warsong on the Mega Drive(Langrisser 1) is one of a small handfull of games that do it for me, I only have to listen to it's soundtrack (which is amazing btw) to put my mind in some happy place.

Another is Street Fighter 2 (and also Double Dragon) ive so many good memories of play it in my local arcades and later at home on the Mega Drive.

Sonic 1 is another

Actually as I think about it, so many of the games I played as a kid don't do anything for me when I play them, however I can get that "buzz" by just listening to a soundtrack on YT.

This is what really got me hooked good on the NES around 1986

@TrevHead

I agree its nice to play things you missed first time round because nothing is better than unearthing some precious gem of a game on a retro console. I almost stopped breathing when my mate got me my favourite SNES game for my 18th, Zombies ate my neighbours, so many good memories... until you remember there was no save option.
