From the kickstarter:
To start off, this is a game focusing on the American Civil War, where bullets flew for the disparate causes of their participants. Those that fought for the rights of their states and purported livelihood clashed with those that fought for the rights of the enslaved...
They should ditch that wishy-washy language and come out and say "Those that fought to keep slaves and those that fought to free them." Have some balls and take a stand! In WW2 games we can slaughter Nazis by the millions and pretend that all of them were evil Jew-killers and deserved it, why can't we do the same for those Confederate assholes?
Maybe its because you are less likely to piss off the Germans than the Southerners by portraying their respective histories in a negative light. I get the impression that there are much more southerners that take pride in their history of rebelling against the North than Germans who take pride in Nazi Germany.

Of course that is assuming these guys know how some southerners view the American Civil War.

I wasn't really trying to start a debate here on politics, mostly just point out a good looking game that even if you don't back you should check out at least. Mount and Blade already has a free mod version out called "North and South" and its pretty tight, even for an aging graphics engine that mount and blade uses.
Personally I don't think there really has been a good Civil War FPS that has done it well and this looks like it might take the cake, it's definitely the best LOOKING one I've seen to date. If the gameplay is solid then we might have a winner.

So a Civil war reenactment game. That's different. Politics aside, the problem I see is that how many people will be willing to play a game where there actions may have little to no effect on their survival or the outcome of the battle. At least if the game is as realistic as the designers claim. I wish them good luck, the stills look great and I admire the innovation and the designers love of this part of my country's history.

If it can reproduce something like the battles in Mount and blade: napoleonic warfare I might just buy this when it releases. Looking at the kickstarter in general I'm very cautiously optimistic about this one. I hope they have the steel nerves of napoleonic warfare where reloading a rifle will take somewhere near as long as reloading a rifle took at the time. (which is probably faster than it took to reload the guns of napoleonic warfare but slower than it takes to reload your average halo or call of duty weapon) The tension and unique tactics in napoleonic warfare were really good as a result.

I'd be highly amused if you could set the game to play Revolver Ocelot's speech about the thrill of reloading whenever you reloaded.

People played drummers, flute players, and bagpipers [https://youtu.be/PJV8YSNvn_E] in the Mount and Blade Napoleonic Wars setting. I'm sure this game will be fine.
