That's right, it's a Doctor Who thread!

Basically, any ideas you have about the upcoming episodes, and any other rumors. Personally, I am very interested about the ("denied") rumor of Terry Pratchett writing an episode. I'm getting to be a huge fan of the Moffat era of Doctor Who. Matt Smith is hugely entertaining, although I liked a lot of David Tennant's stuff. I do like them bringing back a couple of things. At the moment, I can't think of anything I suspect might happen. So what do you all think?

I'm sorry, but I haven't watched that show in forever and would like some connection between the title and the thread...

The title of the next episode, to be aired in Autumn, is "Let's kill Hitler".

That last episode was...wow.
Personally, I am very concerned about the title of the next episode. Killing Hitler, at this point, would be a pretty bad idea.

I must say, sir, you don't look like the ninjas where I come from.

OP, I am very very disappointed that I cannot now make a smarmy comment about it not being 1945 or that the Allies beat you to it. Go to your room.

I'm curious to what they do for the 50th anniversary in 2013. I've heard that Sylvester McCoy (my favorite doctor from the original era) what's to be involved and apparently there is some discussion of having all of the Doctors involved.

I imagine William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, and Jon Pertwee would have stand in actors, as they did with the First Doctor in the Five Doctors anniversary episode. Of course the other classic era Doctors all look quite a bit older now and I'm not sure how they'd explain that.

I thought the last episode was very meh right up until that end screen where it showed the title of the next episode. Made me laugh quite a bit. I think Moffat has great ideas but sometimes the journey from aweosme A to awesome B he messes up. The last episode seemed really contrived as the Doctor really didn't rise high - at least not as high as DT on any given episode. There was no really loss of temper, no threatening, no dastardly last minute win. It was just...contrived.

As for Terry Pratchett writing an episode? I doubt it'll happen but I wish it would. He's not well, as I'm sure we all know, and I can't imagine writing an episode being the kinda stress he'd wish on himself. I can't think of a better writer for that show really, he'd bring out the zany, though Niel Gaiman comes damn close. I adored his episode.

As for an 11 Doctors show? They'd have to replace too many or animate it and have them do voices. Or have some contrived plot devise like an aging machine...hell I'd still watch it and I'd probably really like it too. I quite liked the Time Crash special with Peter Davidson and David Tennant.

That last episode: Ringwraiths with lightsabres WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!

Next episode's title also gave me a chuckle, although I do wonder where they'll go with it. Overall, the highlight of that half-series was Neil Gaiman's episode, and I do think that Moffat is pretty much out of (good) ideas.

If Terry Pratchett wrote an episode, it would probably be about the best thing ever. Period.

An animated special would make a lot of sense.

Not entirely true, he's actually on top of his Alzheimer's. He's still writing discworld and he's overseeing that Guards Guards "cop drama-esque" thing. Seems pretty damn active to me, and he keeps "denying" having anything to do with Moffat on his Twitter, so I think it might be happening.

I want to know a few things.
1: That Cyber Legion. What? Were they remenants of the cybermen from how Amy remembered the universe? I don't know all that far back, but I thought that the cybermen from our universe had been destroyed?

2: The Daleks. Where? Where did they go? What happened to them after they won in WW2?

3: Who was that girl who died at Demons Run?

4: Where did he find all those Homo-Retitian?

5: I want more of that lesbian ninja couple from the victorian age. Am I alone in that?

I think that woman with the eye patch looks like River Song. Again, am I alone in that?

I'm not so sure killing Hitler would be such a good idea. Look what happened when Einstein did it:

Of course, this is the Doctor we're talking about. Maybe he'll have the foresight to kill Stalin as well to avoid such a scenario.

please stop it with the "hitler killing" you 14-year old kids.
there have been countless worse mass murderers before, during, and after him.

at least get creative..like.."kill pol pot!" or "kill Stalin!" or "kill Attila the Hun!" or "kill Mohamed II of the Ottoman empire!"

i dunno, but this is as stale as that 2 year old ham in my fridge.

why does the world revolve around nazis? jesus we're in 2011, there have been over 4 million years of human killing each other, is there NO other killer in history people have heard of?

edit: i now read past the first sentence. my point still stands, but i must now add it's the most uncreative episode title/plot i've heard of that DOESN'T spoof star wars.

The title 'Let's Kill Hitler' doesn't strike you as purposefully silly? Given that the entire premise of the program is built around time-travel, it seems dar more likely that they will be parodying the over used example of killing Hitler. Or maybe the name actually has less to do with the plot of the episode than you'd think, and they decided to make it the first episode after the break because you'll probably souble your viewing figures from the title alone.

I've just thought of something, perhaps the actual plot of the episode is about them trying to save Hitler's life? Even ignoring all the possible cases of the Soviets gaining power without Hitler or so on, the Nazi war machine would have been far more effective without an incompetent ego-centric like Hitler at the helm.

I have to say I'd hope so - I think it'll be a great shame if a writer as talented as Terry Pratchet didn't write in an episode. I often though the Doctor would be very at home in Discworld too - he has the logic ^^

If it's anything to do with the bit Meredith Vieira reads about Winston Churchill visiting the capitol there's going to be some mammoth time breaking.
