so there are lots of Lets Plays on Youtube, and I want to start one, now i know its late and I probably will never get very big, but I want to do it just for fun, like a hobby

I want to know what games you would watch in a Lets Play, assuming I'm a good commentator etc (which I cant say, just assume I am)

I don't really want to do games that are done to death such as Minecraft or as of lately Portal 2, because everyone does them

I need some <color= green>unique, yet relatively <color= orange>popular games to kick off my youtube channel

Thanks Escapists :D

P.S: It has to be a PC game, preferably one that I could just download off steam

I'm currently doing a written Let's Play on Pokemon Leaf Green and it's going really nicely so a pokeman game might be a good option... of course it'd be tricky to find it for PC.
Play something you are good at as well, you don't want to constantly be dying or having to edit loads as it'll break the flow for the watchers.

A Persona game! You would get terrible comments because people would be saying stupid crap about picking the wrong social links.

being the watcher of let's play it should be a game that you're good at and know all the ins and outs. LPing doesn't even have to have be for relevant games. If you do uncommon LPs you're more likely to get a small but loyal fan base

Donkey Kong Country Returns. No? Just saying >>
Seriously though, pick a game that you have mastered...but the commentary might be better if it's new to you. Yeah, I'm not helping.

Just an LP that is written down, text based with some screen shots rather than a video.

As a Let's Player myself, I can tell you that pretty much any game that you could call 'popular' is going to have been done almost to death, and people tend to watch whichever Let's Play has the most views. Particularly if a popular LPer's done it.

I'm not saying this to discourage you, but just don't be surprised if you get barely any views in the first few weeks (months, years...). Hell, I've been going for over a year now, and I'm still pleased whenever one of my videos gets views in double figures. That's probably because I hate the idea of posting 'Watch mai videeoz now!!!1!' all over the internet (you come across as an arsehole), but I've got my fans and I love them.

So yeah, I suppose what I'm trying to get at here is: if you want fans, make sure people know you exist, but don't be an arse. Also, DO NOT START WITH AN RPG! I made that mistake. Never finished the LP (got bored). Make sure that whatever game you start off with is, as was said earlier, something you know well and something that's relatively short, so you get a good idea of whether or not doing Let's Plays is something you really want to do. But hey, if you decide that you're enjoying what you're doing, then great! Keep it up!

Finally, just be yourself in the videos. Not much more I can say on that.

EDIT: Just as an aside, if you need any advice regarding making the videos (recording software, file types, resolutions etc), just drop me a message and I'll see what I can do!
