What does the Escapist community think about Let's Plays? Do you watch them at all? If you do, then what LP's do you tend to watch? Recent releases that you won't be able to play for a while, games you're stuck on and need to see how someone else gets through it, the hilarious ones full of spectacular failures and epic manuevers, old and rare games that you will never have a chance of playing? What are your favourite Let's Plays and your favourite Let's Players?

I like when TeamFourStar does LPs with each other. They're generally pretty funny on their own, but put together they're incredibly antagonising to each other and all the jokes they crack get funnier and funnier. And they more than have their fair share of failures together...

As long as it's funny I'll probably watch it or read through it. Either that or it's a game I know I'll probably never play.

Probably some of my favorite LPer's are SlowBeef and Diebetus. Both play off each other so well and something about the way Diebetus says things makes them all the more funny. My favorite LP's of there's tend to be there long play riffs like Dark Seed 2 or the Retsufrash stuff but the Metroid Prime LP was pretty enjoyable too.

I've watched some and I've done some. The ones I've done are in-character commentaries with stupid accents.

Can't say I've ever watched a LP, I find it boring to watch someone else play a game, and if I don't already have the game then watching an LP would spoil it for me. I just don't really see the draw in them.

I'm a fan of Let's Plays. I like screeshot ones slightly more than video ones, however. This is because I read rather quickly.

In fact, I'm doing my own crappy LP right now!

I watch a couple, specifically CaptianSparklez and ChimneySwift11.

I just find them to be the more entertaining ones out there.

I'm a Let's Player myself, but I've promised to leave any and all shameless plugging out of it.

My favorite Let's Plays are probably different from most other peoples' - I want pure entertainment. In my opinion, a good Let's Play should be like Mystery Science Theater 2000: hilarity should be the most important part. I especially like LoadingReadyRun's GPLP for this reason, but even they aren't quite perfect (not that I am either, obviously.) I think that video walkthroughs and Let's Plays that show you how to get every secret are certainly useful, but I'm never going to watch one of them all the way through. I'll skip to the part I'm hung up on and then go to have actual FUN on my own. And the epic failures and awesome show-offish tricks are nice as well, but frankly, I think the Let's Player should be more like a circus ringleader, pointing out all of the funny parts of the game itself, telling jokes and even (I've seen this on occasion, and it's always great) singing songs.

I love Let's Plays. I don't know why, but I have just as much fun watching someone else play a game as I have playing a game myself. I've lost count of times I've hassled my non-gaming brother into playing a game just so I can watch.

I rarely watch them. Mostly because I always seem to find shitty ones. To the people who do LP's you are not as funny and entertaining as you think you are (well maybe not you directly, but you can at least think of one person I'm referring to. Yes this is an anti-flame disclaimer). I'm not saying comedy shouldn't be in them, but it shouldn't be the only thing they use. Also if they suck at the game, I'm not going to watch it. If I wanted to see someone suck I'd play them myself.

I mostly watch LP's when I suck and want to see how to get better (and easter eggs), to see if a game is worth my money, or just to see what happens in it. Really the only LP I enjoyed enough to follow would be AccountingNightmare's DMC let's plays. Having an accent always makes you more awesome too.

I can't say I love watching Let's Plays because there are a lot of crappy ones out there and a lot of the time I'd rather play the games than watching them be played. That being said, I LOVE watching Chip Cheezum and General Ironicus. They work extremely well together and with Chip's exceptional skill at video games and knowledge of not just the games, but sometimes the background and development on it as well. It's really cool too because Ironicus hasn't played the game or sometimes even heard about the game so all of his reactions are genuine, which is always a plus. I highly recommend them, even if you don't necessarily like LP's. These guys do it right.

I watch them. Usually when I'm particularly bored. I much prefer the video ones to screenshots and text.

As for which games well it varies. PS3 and Wii exclusives that I'm actually interested in. (I have a 360 and no plans to get the others) old games I never heard of. Games I'm hopelessly stuck on. New stuff I'm on the fence about I'll watch the first couple vids to see if the intro pulls me in.

My favorite LP'ers are Nakateleeli, GhostRobo, and Tetraninja. All on youtube and often hilarious. Especially when Naka Gets his friend ElementalOgre to join him for multiplayer.

That's one advantage I forgot to mention. Yeah, I don't have a PS3 either, so getting to watch people play something like God of War or Heavy Rain lets me experience the game as well. Which is nice.

I love reading humorous screenshot LPs, my top 3 are Plague And Treachery On The Oregon Trail, The Terrible Secret of Animal Crossing by Chewbot and Princess Maker 2 by SynthOrange.

Well, this seems like a positive thread. I suppose I should probably advertise myself [http://www.youtube.com/user/MrHaza2?feature=mhee]
But yeah, I'm a big fan of LPs. Of course, you have to find the good ones, otherwise it's just painful. Generally, I'm quite a fan of Jefmajor, ChipCheezum and AgentJR.

I think they're fun to watch. I tend to watch the post-commentary style since the LPer doesn't have to pause as often (unless they run out of stuff to talk about). Plus they can edit out the boring parts like grinding or repeated deaths since nobody wants to sit through that for 10 min.

I think they're fun to watch, and I do like a lot of them. Often times they'res a big difference between non-serious LP's and informative LP's, and I like them Both.
Example: Super Mario Sunshine
Non-Serious: AttackingTucans/JoshJepson's playthrough
Informative: Chuggaaconroy's Playthrough
It's fun for me to watch because as is a good amount of times the case is that I like to watch videos of the game, but I don't like to actually play the game, as it bores me (this happens with a good amount of Zelda Games, not actually interested in playing a few of the games, but I like to watch videos of people go through them).
