I would like to see an emotional one. Not a "We're Americans and we won buy blowing all you Nazis to hell!" game like Call of Duty.

Don't get me wrong, I loved World at War, it was my favourite in the franchise, but I want something that I can feel. A dark, gritty story line and setting, not an all out battle all the time.

Treyarch, make this game now!

.... And include zombies... Again.

Here's one for a twist. How about where you play as a nazi? Can't think of any games off hand that have you playing as the bad guys.
...Nazi's... aren't... bad guys. Here, fight in this war, or go to a camp and die!? Wouldn't you fight?
And that there is the source for a great game with an intense story right there. The tale of a reluctant soldier amongst the Nazi ranks. You could even have a group dynamic between the reluctant ones, the fanatics, those who joined fully willing to join the good fight but slowly realising they're actually helping a monster, that could be a ~great~ game right there.
Exactly the point I was refering to. There could even be split decisions in the story itself resulting in different endings (without changing the overall outcome of the war.) Do you play the part as the reluctant soldier doing his job, or someone who actually buys into the propaganda and will fight to his dying breath for the cause?

I want a Battlefield 1944 next, DICE.

Just make it a HD, destructable remake of all the maps on 1942 and we're good, 'kay? None of that 'Three maps, all Pacific' shit.

I'd love another Brothers in Arms, but that's not gonna happen, due to tragic circumstances.
It's even more disheartening when Hells Highway ended with 'To be continued'.
I am reluctant to ask but what tragic circumstance are you speaking of that prevents another Brother's in Arms game from coming? I love the series and have been hoping to see another installment.
The game's creator died in a carcrash a few months ago.
Someone quoted me earlier and said there's still work being done on another game in the series, but I'm not sure how reliable that may be.
Well that is tragic both in terms of the mans death and for the series. May he rest in peace

Let's not. WW2 games have been done to death these days, so it's no wonder the FPS developer's have stopped milking that shriveled cash cow. They weren't even really that good, just dark gritty and brooding. WW2 wasn't such as a good time either, so i'd prefer that people don't have to relieve it over and over and over again.

Personally, i think there aren't enough games about the cold war. And i mean first-person shooters not strategy games. It would be a pretty peacefull one too since there wasn't an actual all-out war.

Only one problem with that. Those German soldiers would never be accepted into the Soviet ranks. There was way too much hatred, they would merely have been executed, tortured, or bayoneted. Probably a combination of all three...
If they lived near the border, or studied a second language, they could make themselfes look like people drafted to fight against their will...like, if they knew czech, polish, whatever.
There have been short firebreaks in Stalingrad, with both sides litterally a few feet apart from each other.
Maybe your character knows russian fluently, then, when you run from the germans, you have to shed your uniform and replace it with a soviet uniform...

I think we need a WWI game. Sitting in the trench for hours, getting trench foot. getting it treated. Then charging across no-man's land and getting killed by a machine gunner. Sounds fun to me!
You make it sound like noone survived that war...
Also, alot of WW2 was "Get up, charge, die!", especially in the Soviet campaign...did you feel that in WAW? Where you actually one of the many, many, MANY casualties in that war? No, you where not....well you were, in the End, kinda...after sucking down thousands of bullets by hinding behind walls, one measly pistol round to the gut takes you off your feet.

But I hope you catch my drift.
Let´s make the Omaha Beach landings realistic! You arrive with your boat, the ramp falls, you die...
Now that would be fun too, wounldn´t it.
Wonder why noone thought of that. Your char somehow always survives that landing.

I have killed enough Nazis and imperial Japanese soldiers to fill a dozen cemeteries. The terrorist count isn't quite that high but it is getting there. I say we make shooters based on 80s conflicts now. Falklands War + Panama invasion FPS! FTW!

I never got tired of the WWII shooter genre and I'd love to see it revived. COD 1 and 2 were the best WWII shooters. WaW was decent but not as good as the first 2 Infinity Ward games.

Yea, how about no.

I'm sick and tired of war shooters. I havent bought one in years, for myself anyway.

LEts dedicate all of that time and money instead into a game that wont suck.

Why not a Dynasty Warrior-style WWII game? (Not as in, you run around killing the shit out of everything, but you have units roaming around and occasionally you'll be told to do something like, "Plant the C4 on the Western bridge to delay enemy reinforcements!" and running around to save other units by flanking the enemy and such.
Now that sir is a good idea!

OT: I still enjoy a lot of WW2 games, probably because I'm really interested in that period of History...But if you're looking for a different approach to WW2 games I reccommend Death To Spies...

No, WWII as a genre had it's run. Put every game together back to back, you get a longer conflict than the Hundred Years' War. Ok, I exaggerate. But only by a few years.

Bring out some WWI games, then I'd be interested.

I'm pretty certain WW2 as a genre has been rehashed so many times there is very little need for another, IMO. At least, I can't imagine me buying one in the next couple years.

Are you done arguing semantics?
Not if you keep using Nazi wrong. XD
And I´m not arguing semantics, I am stating grade-school level history...
m'kay, have it your way.

Who commanded Germany during WW2? The Nazi party, headed by Hitler. AKA the Third Reich.

What was the Nazi's policy? Do what we say or earn a 1 way ticket to the concentration camps.
So regardless of whether or not these Germans shared the political views of the Nazi party, they were doing Nazi work anyway.

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck.....

ffs it was even called "Nazi Germany" at the time. Here, have a wiki quote:

"Nazi Germany, or the Third Reich,[3] is the name commonly used to refer to the state of Germany from 1933 to 1945, when it was a totalitarian dictatorship ruled by Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party."

Unless we change the outcome of the war, let's not. I've read about it, I've watched it and I've played it over and over again. Let it die.

Now what I do want is more games about the War of 1812! Hurrah!

I actually like WW2 shooters. The only thing I don't like is how often they are set as Americans vs Germans in 1944-45. Actually, i'll go ahead and agree (to an extent) that I liked CoD:WAW if only because it wasn't set there, but rather in the underrepresented Eastern (Germany vs USSR) and Pacific (USA vs Japan) Fronts. A WW2 shooter in either of those theaters is something that peaks my interest much more than yet another D-Day simulation.

Though... even more variety than that would be nice too. Japan's rampage against its Asian neighbors could be interesting (China), albeit extremely brutal (much like the Eastern/Pacific fronts). Britain anything is something we don't really see enough of in WW2 shooters, or the dominion nations (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa). Or... what about actually playing as the Germans? Taboo probably, but... could make for a really interesting and thought-provoking game.

WW2 was a -big- fucking war, and yet the games about it seem to always involve Americans vs Germans. Anything different than that would be cool. Though... the occasional good "D-Day" WW2 game is nice.

Let's not.

Here's why: we're prolly gonna play as the Allies (when are you not?) and we're gonna win in the end (cuz that's historically accurate)...and in the meantime we'll be steadily advancing and killing generic Nazi's who will all seem equally brainwashed/ determined.

You've seen it all before...if not in games then in movies/ documentaries.

Saving Private Ryan was not a great movie because it had WW2 as a setting...it was a great movie because it had great acting and story...capable of conveying/ evoking emotions.

You could make a movie called "Saving Samurai Ryu" with the 1600 Battle of Sekigahara as the setting...but if the acting/ story is shit it doesn't matter how awesome the setting is.
