You may be wondering to yourself, "What about One Piece" well I haven't seen One Piece so there.

Now to be on topic, I started watching Death Note when I was just about thirteen, and I freaking loved it. And I still do, so much in fact that I watched the entire anime series, each second I thought was brilliant and, I'm going out on a limb here, better than both Naruto and Bleach combined. I thought that the characters were a lot more likable and I felt that they were more realistic than say, Naruto. But that's just my personal opinion. What do you think?

Light got corrupted by the power he had much more quickly than I liked, to be honest. Beyond that, it was mostly a good series.

I never really liked Deathnote, it started out fine but by the end it boiled down to, "I knew you were going to do that." countered by, "Well I knew that you knew that I was going to do that, so I did this." and I lost all interest... and then bad ending to finish it off...
Edit: if you want a really good psycho thriller check out Serial Experiments Lain or Paranoia Agent...

Death Note was ok but you should totally read One Piece because it is better. I would not have mentioned this had you not mentioned One Piece. :D

Why would you compare Deathnote to Naruto and Bleach? They're not even the same genre.

Death Note is anime-Twilight.

The characters are one-dimensional, unlikeable, pose too much, and the show is built around perhaps the stupidest premise in existance.

There is no reason at all to read it if you are a heterosexual male.
... Are we thinking about the same series here? Because the series I'm of was one of the most brilliant pieces of work I've ever had the privilege of reading/watching.

OT: I loved Deathnote. It essentially ruined anime/manga for me though, as everything afterwards just seemed so generic and bleh. I hated Near (god, how I hate Near), but Mello was awesome enough to make up for it, so it all works out.

Kira forever.

Let's talk about death note baby, lets talk about Light Yagami.
OT: I liked it at first but then I really began to hate all the characters especially Light. Mostly i hate all characters that are constantly proclaimed geniuses. The only interesting thing in that anime for me was the idea that a book could kill people just by writing their name in it. And being the little tortured soul i am wishing i could have said book.

I'm a huge Death Note fan. It was the first anime I watched in years, and after that I started watching anime again. I even loved the second half and the ending, and really hate it when people complain about how much they sucks. Definably better than Narutard.

I really enjoyed it. I thought the writing was easily the best I've seen in years. I only noticed 1 plot hole or lapse in logic. Everything was explained quite well. I don't recall ever thinking "How the heck did he know that? That's a crazy conclusion to make." The super-geniuses did start to get old at one point. I will admit that. I don't remember much about the ending either.

I guess I'll just list it off:
Premise: Didn't like it
Characters: One-dimensional and unlikeable
Animation: Good
Story: Fair, but honestly just confusing

Now, despite all this I still manage to find it somewhat...compelling. But it still sucks.

I don't have any opinion on the manga, because I haven't read it. If its anything like the anime I wouldn't like it.

SUCK
