Paul Stewart is great at writing fantasy. My favourite series by him is the Edge Chronicles
I LOVE YOU.

I've read
* Beyond the Deepwoods
* Stormchaser
* Midnight over Sanctaphrax
* Curse of the Gloamglozer
* Last of the Sky Pirates
* Vox (which I had signed by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell :D)
* and Freeglader

I haven't read the others, but I really want to. Such an amazing series.

Oh, I also like Stephen King, Malorie Blackman and Eoin Colfer.

Toylstoy,J.R.R Tolkien,Hemingway,Jane Austen,Oscar Wilde, Shakespeare,H.P.Lovecraft,Terry Pratchett and Dickens.

So people what are some of your favorite writers and could anyone recommend me some titles? >.<
Finally somebody who doesn't go out of their way to say that they read a modern-day author,I actually know the ones you mentioned.Well done.

I cant recommend Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series enough. This is one of my favourite series and ive been reading it for the past 4 years. As of right now there are 12 books with two more planned to be released in the falls of this year and the next. Mr. Jordan however passed away before finishing his final book which was to be the 12th one. So Brandon Sanderson, another fantasy writer, has taken up the help and is writing the final book which was divided up into three books because of the length.
Again i cant recommend it enough to those who like a fantasy setting with a long story arc and multiple main characters who evolve over the course of the books.

Side Note: It is a fantasy series but more of a medieval fantasy really, meaning theres magic involved but no elves or dwarves here, just monsters.
I'll actually check it out because you seem very pasionate about it,and not smug like alot of people that talk about what they read.

For me there's a couple of authors I really enjoy, but then there's quite a few that I just enjoy single books of.

But favourite authors are:

Max Barry - Jennifer Government, Company
Haruki Murakami - Dance, Dance, Dance; Norwegian Wood(albeit depressing), Kafka on the Shore
Shinichi Hoshi - A Knock at the door
Takashi Matsuoka - Cloud of Sparrows, Autumn Bridge
Michael Ondaatje - In the Skin of a Lion

Granted most of them are Japanese authors, but I just like what they write. I haven't found many Western authors in the ilk of Murakami yet, although there are a few I've been meaning to investigate.

Richard Morgan
G.R.R Martin
Stever Erikson

My top 3 right there.

Morgan is wicked, really love his work.

Modesett is really good too, I grew up readin David Eddings and David Gemmel, obviously Tolky, I like a bit of Clancy, and The Stand by King is a favourite too.

But my fave author. Morgan all the way.
