Was gonna post this in the topic saying it was a failure, but Id rather start fresh now that it is actually out.

I am 4 episodes in so far, and I...really am into it. Like Daredevil, I now care more about a character I was less into. I still look more forward to Iron Fist working with other heroes, namely Luke Cage (Instead of either getting a season 2, they should just make it Heroes for Hire).

Also Im guessing The Hand will be the antagonist of The Defenders.

A good amount of reasonable twisting. And the father makes me think of Green Goblin from the McGuire Spider-Man movies.

Dunno how far anyone else is though. So beware of spoilers at own risk. I know I -try- to pace myself, but I always get a major case of the "one more episode..."s with the Netflix Marvel shows.

I am getting that impression too and am very worried. I don't know how you personally feel about the Hand but I find them just a much less interesting version of the League of Assassins meaning that the Defenders will just be a rehash of the plot to 2 of the 3 Nolan Batman movies.

I am 2 episodes in and based on people's reviews so far, full honesty, was expecting the worst and am pleasantly surprised. The main character is a little douchey and ditzy in a Vash-The-Stampede kinda way but the show has been fun despite its main villains so far being C+ Not-Norman and Harry Osborne. The show is actually a lot of fun and am not fully getting why people hate it so much.

Well, in the comics The Hand are a big deal. Shame X-Men isnt MCU cause Psylocke becomes who she is because of The Hand. I think having everyone to team up against The Hand will pay out in the end.

Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I hope she teams up with Colleen...

I also really wish they would bridge the movies with the Netflix shows, since Claire is supposed to be friends with the girl from Doctor Strange.

And ofcourse they all need to join with The Avengers (and get Daredevil and Black Widow together)

Side Note if you actually read this Zontar, we agree on virtually nothing...except apparently our love for Marvel and the MCU. Just felt like pointing that out.

It's really weird seeing a white dude in it.

I mean, my only exposure to the character has been via the cartoons.

XD

I got up to Ep 11. Its okay. Its no Jessica Jones, but its way better than the second half of Daredevil season 2.

They give the Hand more nuance which is good and there are factions inside the Hand. I always disliked the Hand in the previous series, they are much more understandable.

Im happy to read this as Ive heard a lot of negatives about it and I really want to love IF.

I am a late comer so Ive watched all of Luke Cage, I liked the classic blaxploitation feel. Im most the way through season 1 of Daredevil which Im enjoying.

Ive not seen any of Jessica Jones and will probably go to IF next once Im through DD.

I dont want to read through the comments here incase there are spoilers.

During peak-TV, is there nothing that is so mediocre as to not be worth one's time regardless of the hype around it or its connection to a franchise? Watching Iron Fist is binge-watching TV merely for the act of binging.

Note: I made it through two episodes with no intention of proceeding.

Danny is unlikable. If I'm being honest, I can see brief flashes where Jones imbues the character with some degree of naive charm, but they're very fleeting and mostly we're left with an entitled lunatic stalking, breaking-and-entering, and generally terrorizing old acquaintances with no perceivable goal or means to achieve said goal while displaying deficits in anger-management and some vague PTSD. A mental health ward, requisite One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest portrayal and corporate backstabbing aside, seems a fitting place for him. Why am I supposed to be wanting him to take the reins to a company that seems to be doing fine without him (minus the age-old trope of his father having partnered with evil dickheads)?

The fights are bad. The choreography is fine, but the actors clearly aren't capable of performing it and the director doesn't know how to frame and shoot it. If only Iron Fist wore some sort of mask so he could be switched out for a stunt person. Kind of a major misstep given that Iron Fist's entire gimmick is the martial arts. No, you're not watching for the Panda Express fortune cookie philosophy.

Who can keep sitting through all this tedious corporate-espionage, soap-opera nonsense? It's boring cliches presented boringly. Mad Men if you drained every single entertaining or meritorious trait. Hope you like watching characters vomit exposition in that office for minutes at a time. Riveting!

Terrible writing. The flashbacks, in addition to be repeated ad nauseum, remind me of the "Tweak vs Craig" South Park episode with the wood shop teacher. I'm getting a good laugh, but this is supposed to be dramatic. Then you have Ward's character establishing flashback being wrecking a game of Monopoly (Monster!) and Joy being broken by inexplicable M&M racism...

Yeah, I'm checking out.

I just finished watched it. Long story short, I found some problems with its writing and a bit of the acting, but overall I still enjoyed it. Maybe it's my lower standards when it comes to TV shows, or my ability to be patient with stories that take things a bit slow. Or the fact that I'm a Chinese who doesn't give a damn about 'cultural appropriation'.
It's definitely the weakest of the four Marvel Netflix series in my opinion, but I don't think it earned the extreme bashing that critics gave it, even if I do understand why.

You see, there are these magical things called "opinions" and magically, not all of them match up with yours! I know, that's hard to believe that anyone could disagree with someone so perfect as you, but it happens, and those people are just as entitled to their magical opinions as you are to yours.

Erm, as much as I disagree with the guy on the show, there's nothing in his comment that directly insults anyone for having an opposing opinion. He's just making an opinion of his own, and it seems like you're doing exactly what you're accusing him of.

I'm 4 episodes deep as well, and I'm enjoying it. It's not amazing, but it's solid.
I don't get the hate.

I didn't appreciate the sense of smug condescension that I interpreted throughout his post. It's one thing to say you don't like the show but another to act as if his opinion is the only one one could conceivably have of the show.

That first sentence in particular

Is there nothing that is so mediocre as to not be worth one's time if it has enough hype around it? Watching Iron Fist is binge-watching TV merely for the act of binging.
just screams "why do people like things that I don't like?!" to me, I don't know about you.

I find the business side of stuff actually super interesting. Take out all the Iron Fist stuff, and it still is actually pretty interesting I think.

How I feel about Ward changes constantly, where I dont even know what outcome I want for him anymore. And the father too I think is such an interesting character.

Not a fan of superheroes, havent seen a single netflix original before, but this was right at the top so i figured fuck it, i'm not in the mood to spend 30 minutes deciding what to watch. It's not bad, to be honest. Mostly because it doesnt feel very "superhero-y" so far (2,5 episodes in). I dont know how faithful to the comics the show is, but it's cool, main character is kind of a dick, but i like the guy. The asian chick is better though, i wish the show would focus on her more instead of those boring mental hospital/office scenes.

I don't get what critics are smoking, other than using it as a soapbox for PC political shouting. Look, I'd be right behind them on that were they to say change Luke Cage to a white dude or something equivalent, but honestly its not a terrible thing to stick to the comic's canon of Danny Rand, and Colleen Wing does a fine job of being a main character, very capable herself, right next to Iron Fist/Rand.
Fuck it. I enjoy the shit out of this show, and fuck the critics. Those who have legitimate "I just don't enjoy it" opinions, that's absolutely fine with me. Those using it to political soapbox? Those are the ones who can honestly fuck off.

I honestly don't see the hate. It's a pretty good and entertaining show. Did the critics even watch the same show as most people?

It's ok so far (about 5 in.) Not loving it but at least there's some conflict. Unlike Luke cage where
Luke Cage, the invincible man whose antagonist is just a dude who owns a club and has some strained connections, steals all of the villains money.
and ends with Luke Cage beating the second, higher up lamer villain by literally letting him punch himself out
I don't mind the corporate espionage stuff. I like how you're constantly trying to get a bead on which characters are protagonists and antagonists. The action isn't Daredevil but it's servicable, moreso than Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.

Overall I wish it was moving a bit faster but it's holding my interest at least.
