I have been thinking about getting a tattoo but so far I have not been able to think of something that will never get old.

Don't have tattoo's but do want them. First one I want is this:

In black and white and no text though, text is something I shall never do as a tattoo.

So, what are you planning to do when your favorite song isn't your favorite song anymore? Isn't that how guys end up with "Green Day" logos tattooed to their chest?
Completely different, even if this song does cease to be my favourite it will always be important because the meaning is so deep and powerful, if I ever change to the point where I don't like this band and song anymore I want someone to kill me because I would have become an awful person. I thoguht very long and hard about it and this will always be a part of me.
I just looked up the song. I know it's kind of personal, so you don't have to answer this, but when I looked it up, the interpretations of the song were all over the place. What does it mean to you?

I don't have any tattoos at the moment, though I would like to get one at some point. I'm not bothered by tattoos either, it's your body do what you want. I really would like a tattoo of The Outsider's Mark on the back of my left hand.

I think I wouldnt mind having one at some point, problem is finding something that means enough to me that it might last the rest of my life.

Things change. Things you are one hundred percent sure about can change, so it's tough to settle on something.

I am pretty repulsed by tattoos and have the same reaction to seeing one that I do seeing a cockroach. It has been a problem before when I didn't know my boyfriend had one until he took his shirt off and it grossed me out so much I broke up with him because I was so repulsed by it that I could never have sex with him. Yes, I know that sounds strange, but yes, I find them gross, even more gross than a huge mole with hair sticking out of it.

The funny thing about this is I am an artist and paint, draw, sculpt and love art. I just also feel that the human body is sexy as it is, and a work of art in itself and to deface it with our graffiti pretty much ruins it. I can't imagine wanting to taste inked skin. I also don't like piercings as well and would never date a pierced guy. It just looks stupid.

I have to wonder why anyone would want to do that to themselves. They are already perfect and original as it is.

I don't mind tattoos and they don't jade opinion of someone. My wife has a few a couple of which I designed myself,, andwould consider it myself if it wasn't for the fact I have a phobia of needles and they are not appropriate for my profession.

My parents have always been against tatoos, but to be honest I wouldn't mind one. Like you I wouldn't want it on my upper arm or on my leg, but maybe across my back. Something written in Irish most likely. One of a few phrases. I can't count the number of cross tatoos I have seen so I wouldn't go for something like that.

If someone wants a tattoo, then take it.
Doesn't bother me, I have one on my chest (a Liverbird), won't make any tattoos immediately visible.
For me it's more like art than anything else and since it's on their body they can decide for themselves where, how and why.

As with all Bad Religion songs the meaning is very deep and means a lot more than first thought. The most popular and my interpretation of the song is that it means the opposite to what the chorus says "there will be sorrow no more", there will never be an end to sorrow because there will always be something to cause humanities suffering, if it's not one thing then it's another, this is made clear in the third verse
"When all soldiers lay their weapons down,
Or when all kings and all queens relinquish their crowns,
Or when the only true Messiah rescues us from ourselves,
It's easy to imagine..."

But ultimately whilst the song is clear that there is no way to completely end sorrow, that it is a completely unattainable goal, it's message isn't to not try at all, it's do all you can to reduce and minimize suffering just don't expect to end it. I get this last bit of interpretation from the music video for the song with not only the imagery of the speaker playing in locations all around the world, but in Graffin's (the lead singers) facial expressions and body language as well as the way the song is sung.

And breathe....

So my point about it will always have meaning to me otherwise I would want someone to kill me basically means that if I lose sight of my desire to help others, ease suffering and make the world a better place I won't be me or even a person I could tolerate being.

That's pretty good. I respect that.

I don't really like the tribal tattoos (sorry to that guy who posted earlier) and I don't understand why people get a chinease/Japanese word inked on them. Granted Asian words look quite interesting but i dont get it. I would love to know what Asian people think of this because if I saw someone with "hope" or "peace" written in English you would probably think it a bit odd.
Apparently, they do:

Apparently, they get tattoos in English for similar reasons people here get tattoos in Chinese.

I don't want to get a tattoo on me. I don't mind them on women so long as they are tasteful and used more to accent her beauty. Things like a little tramp stamp above the tush, ring around the ankle and so forth are okay. But if there's more ink on her than skin when she's naked, it's a mood killer.

I have nothing against the idea of tattoos, I have a couple of them. There are certain styles that aren't very appealing to me aesthetically, and its nice to see some flow and order instead of a jumbled set of images (in the case of multiple tattoos in the same area), but I don't think of anyone less for having ink in their skin.

I've got four pieces, all on my arms. I'm absolutely in love with them. I've got a buncha others planned but they be costly, so after my fourth one I decided to take a wee hiatus before investing in anymore body-art. I've been fascinated with tats for as long as I can recall and when I finally took the leap a few years ago, I became a true-blue convert.

Have I ever been judged for having them? Or had my life affected? Sure. But I am who I am. What can I say.

Ha ha!
That's hilarious!
"I belong to the god and it bless me"

I would be mighty upset with a tattoo like that.

To me, they're like everything else that can be considered artistic; many of them are awesome but most of them really suck and exist for now good reason. My girlfriend has a celtic knot on her shoulder and while I think it looks kind of cool, that's all it is, it just looks cool. I'm planning on getting either a Triforce with the courage section filled in (as I was quite the coward until about a year ago and it's the freakin' Triforce!) one my abdomen or, depending on how expensive it is, the alchemy symbol from Fullmetal Alchemist across my back. FMA was the first anime and manga I watched/read and it remains one of my favourites. Also, the "equivalent exchange" principal is very much why I am where I am today.

So, all in all, tattoos tend to be tasteful or tacky, trying to transcend turns trashy.

Mine are my artwork, i know i'll like it going in... On my right arm i have the silhouette of a wolf head in a full moon, and below that I have the bust of a pretty redhead girl surround by butterflies, on my left arm i have a scantily clad woman with claws surround by wolves and scenery. high on my chest on the left side is a purple ribbon with paw prints up the side for animal abuse awareness. I also have a completed drawing for a chest tattoo, and concepts for a huge back piece, and as well as two pieces to go on my legs (position undetermined).

I'm getting my first in two months. It will just be a small one with the zodiac sign for Cancer and Taurus fused together to represent my sister and me (she is getting a matching one) but I think it is a good start. I am saving to get a bigger one done sometime, with a dragon and a compass needle, on my arm, but I'm in no hurry.
I really love good tattoos, bad tattoos are... bad- I like meaning behind them but it's not vital and any well done tattoo will impress me. If you really like Parrots and think they're awesome and you want a Parrot tattoo you should get a Parrot tattoo!
I wouldn't judge someone for having tattoos, I think it's interesting and a great way to mark who you are.

I want a tattoo some time in the future. I feel like they're a great way of self expression & to keep memories that are important. I don't deal well with the concept of pain so I feel like if I actually decide to follow through with getting a tattoo, it would be something I'd never regret. Tattoos are so beautiful. Even when they're not they still are. I want to be able to point to the saggy and misshapen tattoos when I'm old and tell my children the stories behind each one. I want people to see my body after I'm dead and be able to tell through my tattoos that I've lived a life filled with many stories. I especially like the freedom and mystery you have with tattoos. You're able to tell people who you want the meanings behind your tattoos or keep the information away from others making them only see what's on the "surface" of you. However like everything tattoos should be used in moderation. If you get tattoos to break the world record for "most tattoos" on your body, to be cool, or as a dare, yes I will judge you.
