Obviously outside of our own Critical Miss, my all time favorite web comic has got to be
Oglaf [http://oglaf.com]

Pictures for Sad Children [http://picturesforsadchildren.com] is also quite good if you enjoy darker humor.
The bloke what did Pictures for Sad Children went off the deep end, set fire to all the books people bought off him and closed his site down. Shame, seeing as how awesome it was.

In addition to all the other stuff listed here I'd recommend giving http://scarygoround.com/ and http://guildedage.net/ a bash.

I had heard that something had happened with his crowdfunding, didn't know that it went that far off. I mean holy shit.

Lackadaisy is literally the best comic I've read, ever. Not just webcomic. The art style is a nice, Don Bluth-influenced, tradigital style with very expressive... everything. It's funny, got a great community, is well written, and has some very fleshed out characters, even minor or extra characters get fleshed out a fair bit.

Yeah, but the update schedule is killing me, and I can't find any of her other work except from a half-made website that seems to have been abandoned. So I'll just have to wait.

And buy all the merchandise when 4E restocks it all.

You should check out Freefall [http://freefall.purrsia.com/ffdex.htm]!

The artwork is probably best described as 'rudimentary', but it gets the job done. The main attraction is the comedy, anyway.

The protagonist is Sam Starfall, the spectacularly incompetent captain of derelict spaceship 'The Savage Chicken'. Sam hails from a distant planet where larceny, laziness, cowardice and general obnoxiousness are hailed as the most admirable of virtues.

He is assisted by the only remotely sentient being that can stand being around him: Helix the robot, with the strength of a hydraulic jack and the personality of a small child.

In an effort to get his spaceship flying, Sam arranges for a chryogenically frozen engineer to be delivered to 'The Savage Chicken' by 'mistake'. Enter Florence Ambrose, an anthropomorphic wolf - the result of a controversial genetic experiment. Florence soon gets the 'Chicken' into space, but also finds herself saddled with the full-time job of keeping Sam and Helix in line...

The really impressive thing about Freefall is that much of the resulting comedy is based on pretty advanced science - but it is all presented in such an accessible way that any layperson can easily understand every punchline! Oh, and there is some genuine depth to it as well - the comic makes you genuinely care about its characters, and often manages to be both satirical and poignant!

I'm disappointed. No one mentioned the Gun Show by K.C. Green? How can you take two steps on the internet with out running into this guy.

No, seriously... HOW THE FUCK DID NO ONE MENTION K. C. FUCKING GREEN?

Come on Escapist. Stop trying to be hipster by name dropping comics that you think are obscure. Go simple first.
