And if you want a fantasy RPG RTS, Warcraft! Pick up the battle chest for nothing and a half.
A good point. Warcraft was a great series before they went MMO and ruined it (I hate MMOs)

I second Warcraft, or try Diablo.
Nox was also a half decent Diablo clone though far too easy.

If you don't mind a thoroughly broken combat system, you'll probably enjoy Morrowind
I'm waiting for a blend between Oblivion and Morrowind. Oblivion level graphics, combat and physics, and Morrowind EVERYTHING ELSE.
There is a mod for that. I don't know how complete it is though. This is the one

You could try Age Of Kings for a medieval theme RTS. Baldur's Gate 1&2 are fairly medieval in setting too.

As far as medieval RTS games go, no one does it better than Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings.
It isn't really fantasy though, it's more historical.

Briefly,

RPG:
Oblivion. It's effectively Fallout 3 in a medieval era setting. Plus magic. Definitely get the PC version- it enjoys a rather healthy post-release third party mod support base.

Diablo 2. It doesn't quite fit your description but it's still the archetype for the hack n' slash RPG.

Strategy: First- you wont find any on the 360.
Majesty. If you don't mind your strategy dumbed down to building structures that you can recruit heroes from whom then proceed to wander around the map on pre-written AI scripts as they go clear out the enemy this will fit your bill. If you want an actual thinking game stay far, far away.

Total War. Not so much a noble as ruler of the whole fuckin' kingdom but its still about as strategic a strategy game as you can get.

Age of Empires 2. Again, not really a noble. The game is old (and inexpensive as a result) the online play is all but non-existent, and the company that made it has since folded but it'll still be a few good hours worth of game play.

Warcraft 3- it'll blur the barriers between RPG and strategy but it's very much set in a pseudo medieval era (more victorian TBH) and its loads of fun, even if the hey day for it's online play has come and gone.

Again, great feedback guys. And it's good to know I already have about half of these games, but still some great suggestions!

I would suggest renting Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires.

It's not very complex in gameplay, just murder your way through legions of enemies to get to boss-level characters(1000 kills is average). But it could be fun.(hard to find a new copy of it though, but IMO it's worth it)

Mount&Blade, ignore all these simple fools with there Dragon Age's n Oblivions, M&B is fuckin awesome because you can go from nothing to a freaking general leading a charge of knights, its such a brilliant RPG, plus it has a awesome StarWars mod :D.

Other than that, get Morrowind, better than Oblivion, ok its older but its more complex & challeging than TESIV or DO:A.

And for an RTS deffo get Medieval: Total War, 1 or 2 they are both excellent.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI! It's Chinese crack!

(I only suggest XI because it's the first PC one since IV.)

Doraleous and Associ... oh, game.

Morrowind, then. The main storyline is actually really awesome, and there is obviously a MASSIVE assed world in it, and the quests are just plain win. For instance, you get asked to find a scroll someone's hidden. You ask for advice, and someone tells you that the person who hid it was rummaging around in some specific barrels. You go to the barrels, they're all empty. But, if you jump on top of the barrels and walk over, it's hidden half underneath one of them, and that's the only way to get to it.

Sorry, I just loved that puzzle.

Yes, yes YES!!! Try out either the original Mount & Blade or the newer Mount & Blade Warband.

And if you really got time to spare, go for Baldur's Gate 2. DA:O doesn't even get close to it.

There is also Arcanum (old school fantasy steampunk) or Neverwinter Nights. The first one, stay away from NWN2.

And let's not forget about Fallout 2 Restoration Project mod, and Fallout Tactics. But those are of course Steampunk/Western/Post-apocalypse hybrids.

I'm looking for a new game. I'm looking for something with a fantasy-like setting but magic isn't required (see below for more info), either a strategy where you play as a Noble (or something similar) or an RPG where you play as an individual. Something along the following lines:

-Set in the Medieval era (or a Feudal Age theme).
-Comlex, preferably a RTS, TBS or RPG.
-More recent would be good, but classics are welcome.
-PC or 360 platform.

Appreciate any recommendations.
I say, try Oblivion if you havent already. Its a great game, trust me.

Bah. All you whippersnappers just talk about your befangled new games, or popular old games. How about suggesting something A LITTLE outside the box? Although Sanctus, when you say it HAS to be in the medeival era you are really restricting us from a lot of good stuff. Anyway.

RTS:
King arthur, the roleplaying wargame:
This is basically Fantasy - total war. This is the ONE game I would check out if I were you. It has city management, large battles, micromanaging your kindom with laws, fiefdoms, alliances, tech trees, choose your own adventure-type quests etc. etc. etc.

Battle realms:
Old game, don't know where you'd find it, but surprisingly solid and inovative combat system. Liquid really outdid themselves with it IMO.

Warhammer - Mark of chaos (and Expandsion)
Not the best game in the bunch, probably best for those who are fans of the warhammer genre, but it might still be worth looking up.

Majesty 2:
A remake of the old Majesty game. Much higher pace, quite hectic, but all the love, humor and fun is still left. To paraphrase Yahtzee: If one of the only things i can complain about is that the game is too short, it's probably pretty good.

Kohan 1 - Immortal sovreigns / 2 - kings of war:
Again older games, but much like battle realms worth checking out simply for how they handle staple RTS mechanics like units, resources and such. Very interesting game.

Warrior kings 1
Great old game, with one glaring flaw. It's awesomely horribly slow. But I still loved it since the whole "returning for vengance" storyline works so well when paierd up with leading pagan hordes of barbarians and deamons to kill your former foes. Second game was not so good.

TBS:
Hard one, not many good Medeival styled TBS games have hit the shelves in the last....200 years or so. The only ones I can think of from the top of my head (and the top of my gaming shelf) are:

Kings bounty:
A remake of the old kings bounty games that predated the HoMM franchise. Well worth a look and if you enjoyed the first game there is a improved (but not innovative, just more of the same, but better) expansion.

Age of wonders 1 - The wizards throne / 2 - Shadow magic:
If you ever played and enjoyed the master of magic game. This one is for you. It's possibly one of the better TBS games to have hit the shelves for the last decade or so and def worth a look.

RPG:

Not my forte I'm afraid, but beyond what ahs been said I guess I should add:

The witcher:
Now, now, some people hate it, some people focus completely ont he fact that you get a lot of sex with no effort. But in all seriousness this is what Dragon age should've been striving for when they said "dark fantasy". There is misery, there is alcohol, drugs, dead woman and children, constant mood of foreboding doom etc. The witcher has it's flaws, but personally I prefer it to the appalingly standard gameplay of dragon age. One can hate on the sex, and the sub-par combat system of the witcher, but in terms of mood and difficulty (at least play on hard) combined with using russian + subtitles really makes for a immerisive and fun experience IMO. Something that dragona ge never delivered for me.

Gothic1/2/3:
Never played, but it's been highly reccomended by many friends. Please check it out in your own time since I have nothing to say about it :p

-------------

I could go on with some of the more "colorful" fantasy titles out there ("Sacrifice" anyone? Or maybe heroes of annihilaited empires?). But this is what I have off the top of my head in terms of medeival fantasy. And also all I can be arsed to write :p

Happy gaming.
