Dude, it's a cosplay show. Why the hell would you cover industry problems or certain socio-political subjects in a goddamn cosplay show (unless you want to talk about cosplay etiquette which is apparently not obvious to some people)? There's plenty of room for that sort of stuff, and I'm wary of the current direction too, but I can't see any reason to react so negatively to such a statement this early.

That's the point though. It's just a cosplay show. If you need to say "drama free" it's because you have some awareness that just about anything on these sites is resulting in drama.

Ignore the trolls; they might be a bit less 'obvious' around these parts, but they're still quite (physically, emotionally, and mentally) disfigured, I assure you.

Having read Liana's rather prickly 5-part article posted a week or two ago, she's clearly both smart and self-aware, something far too few people who focus on hobbies like this tend to have a proper ratio between.

I'm thrilled to see her joining The Escapist... with, or without her sock puppet and chainmail bikini. (Chainmail sock puppets?)

I haven't read all of it but so far I can't say I agree, like maybe I'm interpreting this wrong but I felt like she was almost saying [I/]"stop complaining and being mean about games because your fulfilling the nagging woman stereotype"[/I] amongst other things

now to be fair I could be VERY jaded against a lot of apologist bullshit I see I may not be giving her as much credit as I should

EDIT: and also the hint of "what about the menz" at the start...the issue I've always had with that is it assumes things are equal in wider context...they are not

It's worth reading all the way through. All 5 parts. She has a lot of interesting things to say, and from a perspective other than most of ours. You will not agree with everything she says. But it is one of the more honest discussions about this sort of stuff we have had in ages. Rather than gamers simply being lectured to.

I'm excited to see what new content she brings. Cosplay is something I am very interested in (and participate in myself!) so I'm very interested to see what she brings to the table.

Being into cosplay myself, it'd be lovely to see something I'm actively interested in on here. I always love the cosplay galleries they put up. Hopefully she's one of the contributors who talk to people, it would be nice if she had any tips or tricks for me.

Apparently Liana Kerzner is going to be hosting a show on cosplay here, possibly starting in March. My fellow Canadians may recognize her as one of the hosts from Ed and Red's Night Party (given that Ed is a sock puppet, you should be able to guess which one she is). She's also done some writing for Metaleater that's pretty good.

I didn't see another thread or announcement about it, so I figured now would be the perfect time to offer an entirely unofficial welcome to her, and say that I'm looking forward to the show.

Nobody has to refer to anyone by their "chosen pronoun", it's just considered common courtesy that people do. It's about showing respect, which I think is what he was trying to get at (but failed).
