People using a classic misdirection.

When faced with an argument they can't win : Go off on some unrelated tangent, to avoid having to respond to their valid question/statement

The immortal "I was just trolling".
This so much. I can't fucking stand people who use this.

Acting like a shithead and then claiming you were "just trolling" doesn't make you less of a shithead.
Agreed. Besides, everyone knows that true trolls never admit to trolling.
Everyone knows that was made up by anti-trollers to try and make trolling seem less widespread.

Actually, I find it funny because if i'm bored, i'll pick the most extremist person on a video, disagree with everything they say, use as many strawman and ad hominem (is that how you spell that?) arguments as possible and people still don't realise i'm trolling them. Clearly, anti-trolling people did their work well.

Aside from that, I just hate people who'll jump into a reasonable discussion and start screaming. Not cool, people should save that for youtube.

Some guy that didnt like that black people was going out with white woman, but according to him he is not a racist since that will decrease the chance of him getting a girlfriend but he had no problem with white male going out with a white woman
This makes sense considering we have EXTREMELY limited amounts a white women on this Earth... The excuses racists make are both hilarious and sad.

being blinded by nostalga and using it as a reason as to why you dont enjoy stuff anymore (because its ALL crap) this happens alot with music

the reality is that the current trend probably just dont suit your tastes (and your gettin old...stuff just isnt as new/exciting/shiny as it once was)

I mean I dont like classic rock yes music elities paint it as teh best thing ever and seem to dismiss all other genres

One I have run into countless times "You can't contradict me, I have freedom of speech"
Or, "I'm entitled to my own opinion, you can't change that."
SO WHY ARE YOU DEBATING IT?!?!
Intresting how such concepts always favor them.

I think two very popular excuses used in games are
"ugh lag!"
and
"I was typing!"
Very popular yet sometimes true. An interesting pair of lies am I right? I know I've genuinely been killed due to lag and typing.

Nope, sorry. My main mode of online debate is backed with information and sophistication when I can find it. If I'm wrong, or the discussion's taken a direction that I didn't expect, I tend to roll with it. The trick is that you have to convince me I'm wrong.

Not the worst, and I don't remember any specifics, but once on this site I argued with someone over the fact that I thought it was retarded to claim you're proud to be a nerd/geek. In spite of my flawless logic, psychological superiority, amazing arguments and various greatnesses(I don't suffer from megalomania at all, shut up!) he just wouldn't give in. Instead he ignored what I said and kept going on about subjects that didn't really belong in the discussion.
Got pretty silly.

Here's how most of my web debates go down.

le me: *makes a ton of points*
le them: *only quotes the points they can refute, completely ignores the points which are correct*
le me: *makes a ton more points and points out that the points they made against my points aren't correct points*
le them: *ignores my points and pretends that i said something that i didn't*
le me: *points out that they're coming out with garble*
le them: *garbles more*
le me scenario 1: *gives up on their garble*
le me scenario 2: *points out everything that is wrong with what they're saying*
le them after scenario 2: *goes silent after realizing how i'm correct*

or it's just

le me: *makes point*
le them: *refutes point*
le me: 'oh i see your point'

So in all, they basically just dodge every single point i make that's correct.
oh god keep that reddit shit out of here.
