I've made terrible decisions in my life. I've been in a worse position in recent years than I was when I was 16 years old. I've been working a series of minimum wage jobs and pretty much sucking at life for 10 years now.

Today I got a job that pays damn near twice as much as any other I've ever had. It's indoors, in a nice building, sitting at a desk, with great benefits, schedule stability, all the goodies.

Things are looking up. I'm very excited.

Share your recent triumphs!

Congratulations, I hope it all goes well.

Is it in the area of work you hope to stay in or do you plan on sticking with it while looking for something more to your tastes?

Unfortunately, I am in a somewhat similar situation to the one you were in before today, so I don't really have anything to share.

Lucky bastard.

OP: I'm hoping that my eagle project proposal gets approved today, otherwise I'm fucked. Not much of an upswing, as I still have to complete the project before I turn 18, but it's a start.

My dissertation adviser gave me back a draft of my proposal that actually had revision comments on it instead of various red Xs and vague directions to "re-write". I've never been so happy to get blasted with red ink in my entire life.

Yesturday, turns out my employer has somewhat underpaid me. Well, this was the day they apparently calculate things like that, and just got £282. Since this is a Saturday job, that's pretty good.

I got myself a lady recently. She is understanding about my bad habits and sees that I want to change them to be with her on a permanent basis. I didn't think this would ever happen.

I started counselling today and I'm already feeling like things are a bit better. Hopefully things will continue in this vein.

I've been asked to update a program at work rather than test it, which is fairly awesome & way more interesting than the previous work.

Also, I have next Monday off!

Got last Friday off due to ice which melted before I was even awake, granting me a free day with no travel hazards. That was nice.
Our big musical (we do one a year in the school auditorium, the rest we do in our black box) was the 1st and 2nd of this month. My role in it was so wildly different from all my others- yet played with the same quality of performance- that people sat up, took notice, and generally agreed that I should be able to make it as an actor. That's about all I could ask for.

I was unable to stand up for any lenght of time without something to lean against for most of the game. On the positive, I couldn't go to school.

Hmmm... mine hasn't really for a couple of years now. Which means I'm probably overdue for one. Looking forward to that!

Grats OP. Hope you enjoy that.

As for mine, I got an offer about a month ago for a job that pays six figures, and I get my first paycheck with my new salary on Friday. God it's nice being an Android consultant in Sillicon Valley.

This may be preemptive, but I have a high chance of getting on a grad programme at work that'll practically guarantee me a managers position, meaning a proper yearly salary, sensible hours and even more options for training and corporate ladder climbing :)

If I can make it through June exams, I'll be in the clear for my gap year, and ready to write my novel.
