It had been ten years since the alien invasion and the world had rebuilt what it lost. The earth was saved by the League of metahumans after a long and bloody war. In the aftermath the metahumans gained world renown and became famous, their names and deeds of valor echoed in dozens of languages. You are one of these superhumans, but whether you embraced or rejected your life of glamour is your decision alone. Old rivalries remain as heroes are unmasked and the world worships its saviors. The question remains unanswered, and only a few dare to address its very existence - Will they come again?
The invaders came to earth unannounced. None knew of their immediate arrival and their first act was the destruction of the world?s largest city. The ruins of New-Delhi and its surroundings were the greeting card of the oldest alien race in the galaxy, as it approached earth intending to conquer it and enslave its people. The governments on earth first thought this a declaration of war by one of their own, and thus a third world war was started while outside invaders were slowly edging closer to the solar system. When the black ships came, nearly half of the world was in conflict, and it took four more months for a ceasefire to be announced and a new alliance made against the alien invaders. Already weakened by infighting, the earth?s forces were unable to fight against superior alien technology and firepower. Quickly their combined forces dwindled, until all that remained was the weapon to end all wars. Determined to stop the detonation of nuclear bombs on earth, a league of metahumans, following a series of small victories against the alien horde, convinced earth governments to abandon the suicidal act. The league, a coalition of superheroes, supervillains and the gifted, banded together and fought against the invaders. They were lead by a German metahuman superhero, Ubermentch, and financed almost exclusively by the supervillain ?the chairman?. Some of those who distinguished themselves in the fighting were Clipper, a foul-mouthed British fireman, the red man, an animist shapeshifting native-american, and the mysterious stranger, an ancient magician of unknown origins. Others such as Grannie Frost and Typhoon caused as much harm as good when fighting the invaders, as their powers tied with an area of affect and hurt those who were in the warzone. Vagabond, The Cannibal and Genshis were the last survivors in the suicidal attack of the mother-ship, where the battered remains of Vagabond dealt the final blow of the conflict and destroyed the behemoth.
Out of tens of thousands of meta humans, only a few hundred remained. They were those who were strong or lucky enough to survive the war - and those who kept their head low and away from the fighting. The remaining few soon became world-renowned celebrities, and were praised and hailed throughout by the people of earth. Ten years later, and a new popular culture revolving around these heroes emerged, following their every step in life. A few enjoyed the attention and the perks that came with it while other protested their invasion of privacy. Many took advantage of the situation to their own good, while others took to hiding where they could not be disturbed. After the war the super-villains were forgiven for their previous deeds, but old rivalries remained between the metahumans.
You?re one of those metahumans, a superhero, a supervillain or a gifted individual who lived through the crises and found themselves worshipped as gods. Your reaction to this change in attitude towards metahumans from suspicion and hostility to sympathy and worship is a part of your personality. How would you live in this new world , and could the invaders ever come back?

Ubermentch- The German nation?s metahuman had cleaned deutchland from crime and evil long ago, and it now stands guard against those who wish to hurt his people. He has Super-Strength, Super-Endurance, Super-Speed, Flight and a lot of other neat powers, this is one of the strongest metahumans in existence.
He lead the metahuman league against the alien invaders, earning himself the nickname ?The Strongest Man Alive?. He enjoys his new world-fame and continues to live out his life in his homeland.
Vagabond - Nicknamed ?The Wandering Jew?, one of the oldest known meta-humans, and one of the most mysterious. The Vagabond cannot die, and can regenerate himself endlessly, escaping injury and death. He can endure much punishment, but isn?t as powerful as other metahumans. His enemies call him ?The cockroach?, from a story where he once continued fighting even after his head was ripped off his body.
He lead the vanguard force that charged at the main fleet of the invaders, and the one who made the final blow that destroyed the mother-ship. Hailed as the savior of mankind, the Vagabond fell back into obscurity as quickly as he had moved up the ranks of the league in the great war. He continues to walk the earth, looking for a place to rest and settle his old bones, shying away from any unwanted attention. Information about him is most sought after by metahuman fans.
Clipper - A relatively new British superhero, He is all that embodies fire. He is immune to flames and heat, and can manufacture heat himself. He can spontaneously create flames out of thin air, engulf himself in fire and even fly through the use of the energy of fire. He?s a very powerful superhero, but his powers are dangerous and unpredictable, and he sometimes may lose control over them.
One of the great heroes of the conflict, Clipper gained tremendous fame in his home and became Britain?s most desired bachelor, garnering even more attention than the royal family. He loves the life of luxury he now lives in, and spends his days enjoying himself and creating more scandals than the British yellow magazine industry could handle.
Soaring Eagle (or ?Eagle?) - Nicknamed ?The Red Man? by his foes is a native-american born metahuman with the ancestral ability of tapping into the spirits of the world. This animist superhero can gather strength from an elephant and speed from a chita, while calling the wind to his favor and giving him flight. He can communicate with nature and all that belongs in its domain. He hates urban environments since he can no longer sense the world around him, and dislikes man?s attempts at taking more land from nature.
Soaring Eagle used his newly found fame to bring the hopeless situation of his people to the world stage. The native-americans received great attention from world governments, and their plight soon became one of the top priorities in the reformed United States. They prospered with the help of Soaring Eagle. Another agenda of his was the preservation of wildlife, and he remains one of the top advocates of nature preservation in the world.
Genghis - The Warrior of the Steppe, or ?Horseman? is the spiritual incarnation of the mighty Genghis Khan who conquered to the end of the world and crowned himself the strongest man on earth. Channeling the powers of his ancestors, Genghis, a Chinese-born superhero attained mastery over the bow and arrow and other weapons, enhanced strength, speed and endurance along with the power to summon wraiths of his long-dead loyal soldiers to aid him in battle.
Genghis was at the front line during the invasion, and along with his fellow fighters brought down the invasion fleet. Fearing a return to his homeland, Genghis decided to spend the rest of his live in France, and was accepted without question.
Cuauhtemoc - Sometimes referred to (in secret) as ?Hannibal the Cannibal? (Or ?The Cannibal?) this metahuman claims to be the last of his kind of flesh-eaters. He is a Mexican-born Cannibal who draws his powers on the flesh he consumes, drawing strength from the still beating hearts of his kills, either man or beast. He absorbs the strength and life force of those he feasts upon, and therefore have lived for many decades and remained young. His endurance is legendary - he is freakishly resistant to trauma blows. He has an overdeveloped sense of smell, can see in the dark and has other abilities he draws from the wild.
The Cannibal is perhaps the most hated metahuman in existence, more even after the invasion. His feats of bravery were shown together with him feasting on the flesh of fallen soldiers, metahumans and aliens alike. He exiled himself from the world, choosing to seek his roots again in Africa and find the origins of his people.
The Chairman - Commonly referred to as ?The (Black) Boss?, this half Sudanese Egyptian businessman is the man who pulls the strings in the largest Arab nation in the world. Strong ties with the Saudi royal family and the Gulf principalities had often put him at odds with foreign intelligence agencies as he rubbed shoulders with infamous terrorists and mujahideen. His influence over the Egyptian military, who had once ruled the nation, had extended far beyond Egypt?s borders. He is well-known and allied with other ?businessmen? in the weapons trade. He has extensive investments in Africa, often finding himself facing against the mighty Eastern Dragon as it stretches its claws over the virgin lands of the dark continent. A financial and political mastermind, governments rise and fall as his command in the region and Egypt had never been more powerful before him.
The Chairman was one of the few metahumans which were not exposed to the public eye during the conflict. The invasion gave him immense power, and under his leadership he worked in the shadows to incorporate neighboring nations into his own Egypt, creating a newly formed Arab union that became a new world power. He continues with his schemes and illegal actions, and sometimes finds himself standing against former allies and other governments in his dealings.
Typhoon - A Filipino born with a sea-creature?s characteristics, like gills, this metahuman has a tight connection with the oceans since her conception at sea. Able to control water and most sea-life, Typhoon is famous through the islands for her fun-loving nature and naivety.
Typhoon became a Filipino celebrity and was dubbed ?The Mermaid? by some. She became the nation?s most desired woman and a spokeswoman for the Philippines in the world. Her powers helped stop impending disasters that once struck at the island nation, but those criticizing her claimed she could have done so in the past, saving countless lives that were lost at sea.
Grannie Frost - sometimes called ?The Bear? by her adversaries, this large and intimidating old woman is the Sami harbinger of cold. Short, broad and heavy, this old hairy woman freezes everything it wants at will. She stays close to home, but may wander through the frozen northern wastes of Siberia in search of a meal or a foolish traveller she can tell her story to.
The Bear hated everything that followed the great war. She was barely dragged out of her home in the north to fight for the league, but Ubermentch?s warnings of a desolated earth and scorched Siberia frightened Grannie Frost so much she fought the aliens ferociously. After the war, Russian and Scandinavian nations honored her by giving her people special priviledges and even discussing creating a unified state of their own. Grannie Frost did not care - all she wanted was a return to her old home by a frozen lake.
The Stranger - Known as ?The Rug Seller?, ?The Preacher?, ?The Scholar? and even ?The Devil?, this strange and questionably Persian magic user is shrouded with mystery. Those who studied The Stranger speculate he originated from the oldest epic of all - the epic of Gilgamesh, where he obtained a life of eternity and used it to gather knowledge of the magical realm beyond that of man. His powers are unknown and therefore are unlimited. He is known to transmute matter, bring back the dead and move through space and time unhindered.
The stranger was never again seen after the invasion, and only a few of the league members can contact him.
He lead the metahuman league against the alien invaders, earning himself the nickname ?The Strongest Man Alive?. He enjoys his new world-fame and continues to live out his life in his homeland.

A free for all game where you will have freedom to engage other player characters and NPCs, create your own instances and adversaries while living out the life you chose for your character. However, in the background some small events will occur that signal a dark future to come. The GM won't have ultimate control over the plot, but will be more of a guide, with veto powers. The GM will have control over the above mentioned NPCs. Players will have more control over the plot and their character's own stories.
The example characters mentioned above can give you a direction towards what kind of metahumans exist, but at the end your choices are endless.
A fair warning - characters shouldn't have the same knowledge as players do, players can't kill other player's characters or major NPCs without good reason, getting permission and writing a hell of a fight. Villains will be villains, but don't be mean-spirited jerks that just want to mess things up for your fellow players. GM's word is law.
