Basic automotive repairs and fixes. I've been driving for a while, but it wasn't until I bought my first new car that I really paid attention to every little detail. I've learned a lot by just researching and teaching myself. It's actually quite fun.

EFTPOS.

Now I can do it. I do everything with it. Just savings, mind you, credit is the Beast.

Around this time last year: learned How To Do Sex.
It's a pretty useful for reproduction and some people like it when it is done to them sometimes.

More recently, last week: did a lot of research into how to build my own beasty gaming PC from parts. Ironically ended up buying a pre-built Alienware tower for cheap, but at least now when I read a list of specs, I know exactly what each thing means and how it works.

I've only recently started to play the piano. I'm working on Fur Elise, The Doctor Who Theme and the X-Files Theme.

I don't know how to pump my own gas (petrol), despite driving for four years. I doubt it's particularly hard, but I'm not looking forward to the time when I have to actually get out of my car and figure it out.
This one always surprises me as an Australian, I've been pumping gas since I was 16.

On another note the skill I'm just learning how to use is cooking, and I keep burning my hands,
Tell me about I'm a halfway decent cook and I still come out of every meal with burnt finger tips.

I dunno, I'm pretty self reliant. The only thing I can think of that I actually can't do for myself is filing a tax return, but I still can do it online without a hassle so I don't really see a need to figure it all out. It isn't like I make a lot of money and if I did, I'd be able to pay someone to cover all of the awesome loopholes for me!

I'm also 26, almost 27, so I'm getting to that point where I start to refuse to learn new tricks.

If it's Alienware, it wasn't cheap at all. If you spent more than $1400, you're definitely doing it wrong when it comes to desktops. And really, you shouldn't have to pay more than $1100 for a computer that basically plays everything released today on maximum specs.

Also learned: Not all condoms are equal.

Well, I don't know if a new language counts as a "life skill" so I'm gonna go with not crying like a little baby when you get your arm broken.

I don't know how to swim or drive a car. I am 24. >_>

Oh, I'm also pretty useless when it comes to cooking. I'm slowly getting better at it, though.

I'm 19 almost 20 and I just learned how to study reliably, mostly because my major is incredibly difficult and I have to maintain a 3.0 GPA (B average) or I'll get kicked out of the program but thats only the minimum what they expect you to be at is a 3.5 and minoring in a language. Good bye free time I knew thee well.

I can't swim and I can't whistle reliably. Once in a while I'll get a note or two to come out but I can't do it on command and I can't control the pitch.
That just seems...irresponsible. Swimming is an important skill, so important that all mammals except higher primates do it instinctively. My summer camp had a very aggressive swim program, by four (my first year) I could float/doggy paddle/backstroke. If you stuck with it and excelled, they streamlined it into lifeguard certification.

And I've never been able to do the loud hand-in-mouth whistle. :(

Yep, the full retail price is a bit ridiculous, as they are selling the brand and image more than anything (like Apple), and I'm a bit guilty of paying premium for a brand name. But! I didn't pay full price (around $1400, actually, and had it ramped up with ridiculous upgrades) because it was from a private reseller.

I can count the number of times I've been near water deeper than I was tall in my entire life on one hand. So it's not that important, and is why I've never bothered learning.

I never went to summer camp because my parents knew I'd find a way to get sent home within a week. I don't like outdoorsey nature shit, I don't like camping, I don't like living off the land. Give me something with an engine.
Do you live in the desert? And what about pool parties? Knowing how to swim is good for those.

My summer camp wasn't particularly "outdoorsy", you got to choose a fair amount of your activities. I did model rocketry one year. It also wasn't a sleep away camp, it was from 8am-4:30pm, really a glorified "summer daycare".
