What's it all about? I've been thinking long and hard about this and I find that thought is the strangest thing in the universe, I mean, life - it can't just be all chemicals can it? Evolution simply can't account for thought - or can it? But it's just, we never think about this, and get wrapped up in our lives, so anyway, what's it all about?

The meaning of life is anything you want it to be, if that's what you're asking. Life is just chemicals allowing us to move, think, et cetera (pretty much) but it has nothing to do with our lives.

To be happy, how the hell you do that is your own option. (granted I'm really failing at it right now)
Happiness is only the release of chemicals into your brain. I rule out happiness.

Well, you put your left hand in, and you put your left hand out.
you put your left hand in, and you shake it all about.
you do the Hokey-Pokey, and you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about.

You are asking questions there are no answers to. God I wish there were answers...

As far as I'm concerned, it's whatever you make of it. It's all up to you.

Life isn't just chemicals, I mean, we can make decisions but a molecule can't choose, it just does. Chemicals aren't the reason for thought or anything. They are HOW we're here.

Software is really there, isn't it? It can't all just be 0's and 1's, surely?

The point of life is to procreate, that logic engine in your head is just designed to make sure you do that, and do it well.

I think about it all the time. I'd probably be better off if I didn't.

While I agree that logic is true to a point, it doesn't account for homosexuality, people who adopt or people who don't want kids.

Saying that these people are erroneous/defected would be insulting and impossible to prove.

There are some questions that require centuries of contemplation by many great men. You've just asked one.

Luckily, I know the answer.

It's 42.

How can you say that? Life itself - the ability to make decisions consiously is... astounding. I used to think life was just DNA and chemicals but now I'm not satisfied with that answer. There is more to it.

Despite the fact I really like that book/film, it never comes to mind when these threads come up, so I congratulate you.

Then why even bother getting out of bed because anything you feel with all seven of your senses are chemical functions and emotions are chemicals so technically by your argument nothing should matter because they are inspired by brain chemistry and not some omniscient presence.

Surely there can't be a universal meaning of life, to each their own if you will... we can't find your meaning of life, for we are not you.

Now that is about as much sense as you are getting out of me today, back to the odd threads. :D
