Light Sabers are cool.

I have this fan character who, for simplicity's sake, let's say is something like a super-powered Jedi.

I'm looking for your creativity. How can I make a lightsaber better/cooler? A Version 2.0.

Thanks for any suggestions.

EDIT: He's not actually a Super-powered Jedi. He's actually an anime character that I am modifying a bit that uses a lightsaber-like weapon. He has no force powers at all. I just didn't want to bore you with all the details.

It's never gonna happen. The whole thing about light is that it goes off in all directions, I guess you could have a fucking powerful laser pointer, but that's about the extent of the power you would get. Anyway, I got off topic... maybe it can shoot laser beams from it's handle.. or something?

Actually, the common theory is that Star Wars uses a lot of Plasma technology in both lightsabers and its ships.

What if you made a lightsaber that can extend and subtract to whatever length you wanted? Rather than the fixed length for normal lightsabers.

In addition I want a lightsaber Shovel so that I can not only kill my enemy but also dig his grave with ease. It cuts through tough clay like a warm knife through butter.

Have it so that your super powered jedi can choose the shape of the blade not just the length, that way you can have the lightaxe as mentioned above as well as a light whip, light club or anything else you want.

On topic: it's pretty hard to top the idea of a laser sword that can cut through everything. However, I think if you have the lightsaber do something like turn into a wider blade, or the Wolverine thing, you'd at least be doing something unusual.

They did that in Jimmy Neutron (the lightsaber shovel). You're too late I'm afraid.

How about a lightsaber hookshot/grappling hook? Not only does it kill your foes, it lets you take their place! It's like Chess!
