So, I only just recently got around to playing the demo. My only real complaint is the insistence on keeping with the Stagger system. Having to break the enemy's guard to deal any kind of noticeable damage bugs me. Same reason I didn't like Shadows of the Damned or Alan Wake. But that's just a personal gripe.

So far, I think it looks good. Visuals are crisp, combat is fast paced once you get a hang of the schema system, and there is a great amount of customization available just within the demo alone. It's a little bothersome that they want you to upload things to the Outworld Services (What's the use of that in an RPG?) but you can turn that off if it isn't your thing.

Something that struck me as weird to have in a Final Fantasy game was destructible parts. Against the first boss, if you get behind him and attack his tail, you can sever it. I don't know if you get any additional GP, XP, or items from it, but it essentially rendered his Tail Hammer useless.

Anyway! So yeah. Wondered what other people thought about it.

I'd be hyped if this was " FF15 with new characters " I haven't cared about Lightening to finish her first game and even touch her second game. I'll probably be something I get for the collection but I can't buy into it anymore.

It's not even like people are going to be craving an JRPG when bravely default just came out and tokiden a good monster hunter rip off is coming out the same day.

Tokiden and Bravery Default are handheld games though. I mean, I would get BD if I had a 3DS, but I don't so I can't.

Lightning is like Batman. She's the dullest character in anything that she's in, but that doesn't necessarily make the rest of the characters (or world) dull as well. She's more of a plot device than an actual character.

I am hoping that, by the end of this game, the timeline will be fixed and we can finally get the happy ending that Final Fantasy games are supposed to have. I also hope that it explains how everyone now seems to be able to travel through time. What is Snow doing at the end of the world?

Anyway, the thing that impressed me the most is the fact that Lightning stays in her selected outfit AFTER the battle is over. This thrills me to no end. I have no idea why, but I love that fact that I can change her outfit and it will stay changed.

Having played and enjoyed FFXIII and XIII-2(not to mention every other FF game made, hated x-2 btw), I played the Lightening Returns demo and did not like it one bit. Tired of the XIII saga even though I liked 2. Tired of Lightening. Don't like the goofy dress sphere system.....will not be playing! Will be importing my FFXIV character to my ps4 when it comes out though!

The only things character wise that really need to be explained are - Why is Hope a kid again? Why has Sazh never changed his clothes? How have Sazh, Hope and Noel traveled all the way to another world in the future?

With Snow it's simple...he was kinda lost in time, he could just about pop up anywhere and it make perfect sense due to the fact that he was pretty much just stranded in the Historia Crux and floating around forever. Vanille, Fang and even Lightning were crystal and as we know that makes you pretty much immortal and able to survive basically whatever for however many years that Fal'cie decides.

I have a weird lingering feeling other characters we may have not seen in a while will return and that will have to be explained too but I remember hearing something about them explaining how and why everyone is where they are.
