So yes...it's finally taken me this long to Buy Dante's Inferno and I've played a little of it.
And I know every one said it was a rip off of God of War, and I know it really is in terms of controls, fighting ect.

And well...I really like this game and think it's a gooden, I played God of War at a friends house and loved it.
A lot of ppl have gotten on my back for wanting to play DI but I can't help but think, Isn't it a good thing that it was made because a lot of Xbox owners that only have the one console are getting to play something that is gueuinely enjoyable?

I see were you're coming from, but if games are going to copy the mechanics of another game, they should at least have something new of there own.
Now I don't know if Dante's Inferno has some new elements to the controls and the fighting, but if doesn't then I am going to swing Yahtzee's "like god of war" stamp onto it.

That's a fair point. I've not actually played either game, but I've heard that God of War is a lot better. How about some higher quality God of War rip-offs for xbox, developers?

GoW is much better, and they did twist the shit out of the Divine Comedy...
The fighting the animations, everything reeks of GoW.

For me I don't care if a game rips of an other game what mattes is what game have the better story and gameplay. If it's a bad rip off just don't buy it. If it's a good rip off great a game I will enjoy.

So if you like Dante's inferno have fun with it.

There seem to be a lot of games under the "Like God of War but" umbrella that are actually quite good. Still need to try out Dante's Inferno.

Sometimes I think that that a few game mechanics (Tactics Ogre's wheel of fortune for example) that, although are integral parts of the games they're in, should be used in other games, but I think DI took it much too far.

I've played both and it pretty much is an inferior clone. Same magic system, same melee system, some QTEs are even copied. Only unique thing it did was the relic system you could use to buff certain skills and the good and evil thing that was pretty pointless because I could beat most fights easily with almost standard moves. Graphics are less pretty and that wallrunning thing with the rope was just annoying.

That being said it wasn't really bad either. It had some cool cinematics and the bosses were interesting enough (in lore if not in complexity). If you have some time to kill and you find it cheap I'd give it a go, but don't really need to go out of your way.

It can go both ways; Lords of Shadow is quite enjoyable imo, while it's pretty much God of War with gothic elements. Darksiders really pissed me off, while being pretty much God of War, Zelda, Devil may cry and some others.

In these cases you really have to play it for yourself to see if it's the right atmosphere, fluidity of gameplay, etc.

IMHO DI can't hold a candle to the GoW series, the combat fluidity and amazing bosses sell it for me

It's a good thing when you take some good ideas and add your own to bring it up another level.
It's not like GoW invented something new, it only brought a spiced up formula of the old hack&slash games, even with sprinkled shit on top(QTE's and button-mashing) it was a good formula.

In the case of Dante's Inferno however, they did exactly what you shouldn't do, they only roughly copied GoW mechanics which just made the game horrid.
The artwork was amazing tho, top props to whoever did that.
