Like many of you out there, I used to love going on to Steam every week to see what sales they were offering. However, I can safely say now that no one should buy from steam. On the 20th of September, Steam offered Fallout Classic Collection for sale on their homepage for $2.49, supposedly including Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics. It's sad to say, but this was simply a ruse to steal money from their customers while not giving the promised product. Indeed, those who purchased the package, believing that they were getting 3 games, instead were charged the full amount and received only Fallout 2. Now, this could just be passed by as a mistake, a simple oversight on Steam's part, however Steam has made no effort to respond to tickets on this issue. Simply criminal. Like PC gaming? Don't buy from Steam till they fix the way they treat customers!

After spending a few seconds on Google, it appears that there each FO, Tactics and FO2 are individually priced on Steam for $9.99 EACH, and all in a bundle for $19.99. Also, both individual games and bundle recently were on sale for a 75% discount.
Anyone able do rudimentary math should be able to figure out that 75% of $20 is $5, NOT $2.50.
So, if they choose to only purchase ONE of the games, instead of the ENTIRE bundle, then that's their own fault. You know, caveat emptor and all that jazz.

For whatever anecdotal proof may be worth, I did actually see the Fallout Collection appear as a daily deal for $2.50 a few days ago. It was definitely the collection, and not just a single game, because I remember thinking to myself that it was a freakin' amazing deal.madwarper said:

unless it shows in the exact bundle what you get then i don't see how you can blame steam, maybe the publisher for badly wording it but steam does not seem at fault (by your lack of evidence)

And to back up this back up of the claim, I also clicked on it, thinking I'd get the bundle in my cart. What I got however, was Fallout 2 for £2.50ish, instead of the bundle as advertised for £2.50ish. I had to go to the actual bundle page and add it to cart there to get the whole deal. And even then, as others pointed out, it would be the publisher's fault, not Steam's. Steam is just the store that houses the transactions, the publishers control the prices.
I've heard a lot of bad shit regarding Steam and Valve, and I really did not appreciate the necessity of needing Steam in the first place to play a game I bought a retail copy of. As such, I've never given Steam any of my money and I certainly don't plan to. Looking back on it, and seeing the state Steam is in today, that's something I'm very glad of.
But yeah, their customer service is some of the worst out there, I've been told. People have had more success with EA's customer services.

You may be recalling the price incorrectly. I remember the price being $4.99 and thinking it was a good deal.
I too saw the 2.49 deal for all 3 games. That may have been a mistake on their part. It was one of those things where each game is discounted, then you get a discount for buying the whole pack. I thought it was freaky as the cost of the pack was the cost of one of the games alone. But it was all there, glad I didn't buy it.
I don't see the point in adamantly refusing to believe it was there. If nothing else, it could have been a mistake/bug on Steam's part. I know I have seen games with over a 100% discount that were not buyable and quickly fixed.

One time during a Steam sale I noticed Dead Island marked down to a negative price. I pointed it out to the guy that I played that game with on Co-Op back when it launched, he joked that they'd need to pay him a whole hell of a lot more than that to play the game again, we both got a good laugh, and a few minutes later the price was fixed.cthulhuspawn82 said:

Jade Empire is pretty infamous on Steam. Many people who have bought it including myself have had problems with it and Valve hasn't really done anything to fix it. I decided to buy it through Good Old Games and it works perfectly. I feel if you're going to sell an older game you should make sure it runs on modern PC's before selling it.

In my experience Steam suppourt is an extremely slow beast, but in the end I've always had my issues resolved. If you did buy the bundle and didn't get the games as you claim, they'll fix it eventually as long as you keep nagging. Also make sure you go through steam suppourt, and not the forums, the forums are useless.

A friend of mine did the exact same thing, but instead he opted to be determined to stick to his guns even when he was impatient and couldn't wait for Civ V and Shogun 2 to go on daily deal, buying them both at 50% off, whereas I snagged both for 75% off.
And he still insists that he didn't act like a twat(seriously, like, he couldn't wait two days and to this day he is in denial over it) >.>
