Like PC Gaming? Don't buy from Steam.

When has steam taken a game from someones account? I've got at least 3 games that have been removed from Steam and they were all always accessible from my library at any given point; as in even if they weren't installed I could download them easily and play. The games are now back, but you can find articles online of their removal: Crysis 2, Gattling Gears, Blade Kitten.

See, they have no qualms about taking games from your user library even IF you have purchased that game.

I have noticed once before, a game bundle i went to purchase showed up when paying as only two of the games in the bundle, you should obviously continue to have your issue resolved but the store can be dodgy sometimes.

Also, i'd find it hard not to give money to the company which restored PC gaming as a valid market in our industry.

Two things that regularly happens on steam is pricing errors and slow useless support, is it that hard to imagine both happening at the same time.

And their games are fun. I mean that is some bullshit right there but it seems more like an error than a malicious action done just to spite you. Now if they stopped having all those sweet deals or have their prices marked higher than competitors or something then yeah I might just jump ship.

I am now going to go and buy L4D2 from Steam purely to spite you.

They patched out the Australian censorship after the laws finally changed here.

You won't regret it. L4D2 is one of the most fun casual* multiplayer shooters out there, even now.


*Casual in that each campaign is done in an hour or less, not that you'll be helping Coach and Rochelle find hidden objects for your grandma.

That's odd. Because I actually bought that bundle.
And I got all three. It does sound like a bug mate, maybe wait and see? Definitely contact them if they keep ignoring the problem. I love Valve, but... they do have a few problems, which tend to get ignored because of their past.

I've never heard of this before and a quick google search reveals no sources. So I don't know where you got that from.

Either way I quite like video games and Steam practically (and sometimes does) gives them away.

I also find it funny that the article talks about a game that is (supposed) to be always online itself

But due to always-online DRM, even the single-player portion of the game requires the servers to be up and running.

So, basically, when the servers of the game were shut down, it was (supposed) to be left completely dead. And what if the game was left in the store William Ossiss would have undoubtedly complained about the unplayable game which is available on Steam.

But as it happens the SP portion is playable and as a result hasn't been pulled.

That's nit-picking. You still payed cash out for this game and they took it away. Even partially. That shows that Valve has some shady business practices of their own. Besides, the fact remains that Steam and the original "perks" of the Xbox One are still on par..... Only Xone has changed them to their original ways buy Steam still has DRM. Want to play this game? Well, unless you load up steam you can't. This is why I go through GOG. DRM free.

Just a couple of points.

1) It could have been mislabeled and this is something which should be brought to their attention. There is most likely no intent to defraud you. Mistakes happen all the time.

2) If it was mislabeled, then you still have a legal right to what they advertised at that price point. They are legally obligated to honor it.

steam has removed SP games from peoples libraries before. the most recent case i can think of is Total War: Medieval 2 Kingdomes. which is really strange since it's multiplier still works.

This one [http://store.steampowered.com/app/4780/?snr=1_7_7_151_150_1]? Strange as it's both in the store and also in my library. Also, how recently was it removed? It doesn't seem to have happened between now and Wed Jul 18 20:38:09 2012 when I initially bought it.

It is not nit-picking. Square Enix shut down the servers of that game, so the multiplayer component was rendered utterly useless. Is it so bad that Valve took the completely non-functioning piece of the game away? Would you have preferred it as dead weight in your library?

I know I would not.

You're not the only one. A lot of people have reported this on the Steam Fallout forum. Can't blame you for not wanting to shop at Steam after this sort of treatment (I know how bad their support is). Hopefully they'll do something about it in a timely manner.

I know I would not.

Having it as dead weight would be better. Even with servers shut down, there are still third party options to get multiplayer working (I believe this is how BF2 is). Plus, you could always just hide the game in your library.

I don't see it as that big of a deal, but I think Valve should have just left it everyone's libraries unless you request it to be removed.

BF 2 has a LAN option. Order of War: Challenge is a multiplayer only title with central servers. To put it in perspective, this is what Diablo 3 and Path of Exile (among other games) do - if there is no server, the game you have is a some dead code, unless the developer/publisher decides to do something about it. So, no, what you're saying does not make sense because you're analogy doesn't work.

I have been using steam for years now. I never had any problem with it.
