With anything there is inherent love and hate. If Da Vinci were alive today there would be supporters, outright haters, those who call him a hack In comparison of Rembrant, fanboys, and slash fiction writers with Socrates. Opinion differs among the masses, It just seems you are with a group who do not care for Mr. Crowshaw.

Everyone I know who watches ZP loves it. But in your situation I would just not bring it up around them. Or just do it on purpose to annoy them as they obviously hate Yahtzee so much.

Laugh in their silly non-conformist faces.
Actually if you think about it then they are conforming with the many many people who dont like ZP, the only way to not conform is to hold an opinion about ZP that noone else has.

Zero punctuation is very triangular, it makes me mildly inquisitive!

Um, they are aware that he is a Comedian who mocks games right? If watching a show makes me a game-hating troll, then so be it. I'd rather be a game-hating troll who enjoys what he watches and is actually allowed to judge his own games then a person who shuns something because of the way it got popular. My advice, get some new and smarter people to talk to.

My advise to you is simply not talk about it. I'm sure all your mates have personal interests too. They just know that nobody else cares, so refrain from talking about them.

I like Zero Punctuation also. Not like, loads. But it's ok. I've found myself getting bored before the half-way point nowadays but I still get a couple of laughs out of them so it's worth it. Most of my friends hate it. The worst thing is people assuming your opinion reflects Ben Croshaw's. If I ever decide I don't like something, I get the old "is that because ZP guy told you not to like it?". Even if it's films. It's a little ridiculous. But I know they're just being morons so it's ok :)

Tell the Teacher, that's how I usually dealt with peer pressure.

Alternatively, as Yahtzee himself says, "If you really like something, then other people's opinions won't bother you unless you're not having as much fun as you convince yourself you're having.".

Some people clearly fell asleep during History class...

I doubt asking that question on the site that hosts all his reviews will get you an unbiased answer, but it's a matter of opinion anyway... Whether they're right or wrong depends on what you think of ZP. I do find their opinions bit... extreme though, if you weren't paraphrasing them.

Tell 'em to fuck off. The end.

Come on, what do you want, therapy? You're too insecure. You can like whatever you like and if they're going to judge you because of it, then honestly, fuck 'em.

Ignore them, they're just pricks and they don't understand the purpose of ZP at all, which is to have a laugh. Quite a few people give me shit at my school because i like Dragon Age: Origins.

lol this. I haven't met anyone you described with that opinion before. To each his own, if their opinion doesn't match with yours on any given subject then don't talk about that subject... simple. Find common ground if you still want to be friends, or alternatively distance yourself if their opinion really gets to you.

You ignore their opinions? If you like something enough, other people's opinions shouldn't weigh over your own.
Yep, It's pretty much this mate. Just ignore them, idiots shouldn't deserve you're time or attention.

If you want to fight fire with fire, ask them who they prefer as a video game reviewer, then laugh in their faces and tell them all of the flaws about their reviewer of choice.

I love Zero Punctuation! They can piss off :) It's because he disses every game he reviews, but that's just his thing. It's funny. He's dissed a few games I like but unlike a lot of people I don't take it personally, no game is perfect. Unfortunately a lot of people do take it personally to them somehow and hate on him.

I would say just ignore them. You are welcome to like whatever you want and their comments shouldn't hurt that fact.
I admit though as a Halo fan on the Internet and also a fan of Ashley Williams from Mass Effect and worse still a person who genuinely enjoyed Avatar (by the standards of the internet I am probably a wanted multiple felon) I know how it feels to have stuff you like constantly be insulted and mocked and while it can be hard to deal with from time to time just try to relax. My advice is to find some place or a group of people who share like minded opinions about the subject matter you enjoy, hence why I joined the Halo fans group here on the Escapist and have joined Bioware Social Network to post in the Ashley Williams Support Thread and then spend a lot of my time among young film school kids who were likewise wowed by Avatar.
I know the haters still exist but because I've found my own social circle where I can express how much I like a certain game, character, movie I find it eases the pressure a little bit.

Also does anyone else find it ironic that Yahtzee is really one of the founding fathers of gaming elitism who arguably turned whole portions of the gaming population into clones of himself, to now find himself the target of elitist obnoxious jokes by the very people he first influenced?
It's kind of like the Monster killing the Creator a few days after its birth.
