I made some not to good math, with xkcd's money chart and a calculator:

*The RIAA sued LimeWire for an amount of money that is 89,5 times the cost of United States wars. And when I say war, I mean all of them, from Revolution War to Iraq.

* It amount RIAA sue for is 10 trilion dollar more than the annual GDP of the entire world.

I have to go into the music business!

You joined in 2007, surely you of all people wouldn't perform such an evil, necromancy! :D
I think the more intriguing thing here is the amount of people in this thread that got banned in the past 13 months! Only a single page and four separate users gone? Blimey. (Also, where the hell does that GIF avatar for permabanned users come from?)

GIF avatar for permabanned users??? They have the same ones they had prior to banning.
Uh... look at any of the banned users in this thread. There's a GIF of a guy in a hospital bed greeting his friend, only for his friend to pick him up and slam him into the bed, with the word 'BANNED' coming up at the bottom. Then he does it again, and this time it says 'PERMABANNED', and the dude in the bed starts crying. Unless this is just a Pub Club thing.

I've never seen that on any banned users ever o__O
OK, any banned user's avatar appears to me as this:

I am beginning to doubt my own perception =P

I am a Pub Club member, and I am not seeing that avatar for the banned users.

Just the standard "greyed-out" versions of the last avatar they had.

Well, umm, I don't know then. I can see three possibilities in that case:

1. the Escapist is trolling us. (unlikely, there are better ways to generate lulz)
2. Melon Hunter is trolling us. (not very likely)
3.

That is Music industry math for you. From 2005 till now the service iTunses had eliminated 500 billion music industry jobs!

But that is more than the population of all of humanity but a factor of like 95! Also iTunes has employes.

SHUT UP! IT HAS TAKEN 500 BILLION JOBS!

I mean honesty how can you sue for more money than your entire industry makes?

Every time you pirate a copy of a song the music industry takes a 150,000 USD loss. Here look at this.

I don't think Melon Hunter is trolling us because I've seen that referred to on another thread a week or two back, sadly I can't remember which. Might be the work of Kross methinks.

kinda reminds me of the scene in Austin Powers where Dr. Evil is holding the world hostage for more then the entire world,s economy.
Dammit do these guys at the RIAA know how much money that is?! it,s probably more then enough to buy your own country!

I love how this thread was Necro'd and then a post later derailed into a discussion about someone seeing an animated GIF for perma-banned users. Which by the way, do want*.

*By which I mean I want to see the animated avatar for all banned users from now on, because its hilariously dickish.

So to stop piracy the RIAA essentially want to bankrupt the entire world? Hahaha!

Not even buying every cd/vinyl/casette ever made would cost anywhere near that figure. Oh and just how much of this 75 trillion is going to the original artist? Because I estimate it will be between jack shit and bugger all.
