"The guy hangs around with some hireded goons so getting to him might be an issue. I have a plan for taking him down but before that we need to learn everything about the guy, anything that will make my performance more convincing. Think you can do that?"

Nik scratched his nose and looked out the window. Regular Seattle day.
"Shouldn't be a problem. You got any leads for me? Got maybe a couple contacts I can send out feelers to as well."

Nik yawned and got up.
Been a while since I played investigator. Should make for a nice change.

"Shouldn't be a problem. You got any leads for me? Got maybe a couple contacts I can send out feelers to as well."

"Nothing beyond the name and a favourite eating spot. The Silver Oasis, nice place just of Pioneer Square, I've sent you the schematics. The guys seems pretty untouchable and since we dont want to cause a fuss we cant really take out the goons."

Roberts wandered into his living room and sat down on the couch, if the other were right about Niks history a few cop contacts would help.

"My idea is to somehow get alone with him, knock him out, change my face and we're in. Anything you can find to help with that would be great. Aside from that we're in the blue really, this guy is defiantly out best way in, I'm thinking we do all our prep in the next few days and then tell everyone about this at the meeting, they might be able to help to."

Finwe was on his way home when he contacted his mechanic friend called Jake.

Finwe: "So you done with the project yet?"

Jake: ""Depends do you have the money?""

Finwe: "Well I am working a big job now and with that money I will have enough.
You know I always keep my word right?"

Jake: ""Yeah ok fine the armor is done with but of the extra features will take a bit longer..""

Finwe: "How much longer?"

Jake: ""4 day's give or take.""

Finwe: "....Be sure to have it done in four days then see you soon friend."

Jake: ""Sure it will be done then just be sure to pay me the money. And talk to you later.""

Finwe hangs up and waited to arrive home. He liked his no small talk only business attitude and his handy work was something to admire too.
Finwe knew that if Jake had made the armor and updated it, it wouldn't fail him and suit him well.
I wonder is Nova stayed at my place after all?

Sebastian, now back in his apartment, began running up his list of contacts, starting off with Drebin.

Drebin: Ah my good friend Sebastian. How are you today?

Sebastian: I'm fine, thanks for asking. Listen, I have a job you might be able to help me with.

Drebin: Oh, now you've got me intrigued. Please do tell.

Sebastian:

Okay then. I'll need you to supply a couple of weapons caches from a Shadowrun team that I am currently part of. We consist of a variety of races; Orcs, Elves, Humans, a Shape Shifter, amongst others. We're going to be hitting two targets. First of which, is the Kilmer Data Archive, from the looks of it, there is going to be augmented guards and automated security drones. Secondly, there is the NeoNet Compound, which is the main body of our mission. Again augmented guards, automated drones, but also some manned ones.

We'll need a cache for each site, since the team is going to be split into two. When I know who is going into each team, I'll update you with the specifics and arrange drop locations. Also, you wouldn't happen to be able to provide some long range communicators would you? Encrypted channels, each one bio-protected, military grade if possible.

Drebin: I don't know man. What your asking for is some pretty steep stuff. Going to cost you a fair bit of nuyen.

Sebastian: Remember the Pendragon Incident? The one where I looked the other way to some less reputable dealings you were doing with their family. Ones that if it became public knowledge, would of had you in jail for quite some time. Cause I'm calling in that favour.

Drebin: Your calling in that one? Jeez man, if I knew that would be the lengths you would go to, I would of accepted sooner. Your cold hearted bastard you know that?

Sebastian: I'm not cold hearted Drebin. I just happen to know the right pressure points. You'll likely hear from me in a few days time.

"Okay, got it. Think I know the place, friend of mine went there the day he made detective. I got some ideas for everythin' else, let you know when they're more defined."

Nik opened up his contacts window. Obviously calling Dexter was out of the question, the guy was on vacation and Nik still had some rules. It wasn't like he'd been disliked, he'd just have to go through the contacts he had still on the force 'til he hit paydirt.

Might take some digging.

"Thanks Nik, we can talk at the meet up and tell everyone what's going on, until then I guess we lay low and get whatever we can. I know a few people I can talk to as well. Talk again later"

And with that he hung up. Work could come later, right now it was 3am and he needed sleep, he wandered into his bedroom and stripped of the chameleon suit before collapsing onto his bed.

"Here's the place, let me show you to the room." Charlie said as he opened the door and walked into the entrance hallway.

"Okay. You want me to take a look at your equipment now or in the morning?" Nolan said, looking around. Truth be told, this was nicer than he expected. Better than the grubby apartment over his workshop in Cleveland, anyway. A few stains and cracks in the wall, but not anything that would ever bother him.

Venaticus sat in the seat by the Lotus cars, waiting for his contact to arrive. time ticked ever on: 7:58:34, 7:58:35, 7:58:36... for a normal person, the time would have been inconvenient, boring at worst. For an AI however, with processing power bordering on the obscene, it was a living nightmare. The area was a matrix dead spot, no outside access of any kind. Without the matrix, the time passed so slowly, a normal man would have lost his mind.

At 7:59:23.084652, the door finally opened. From the outside, a man in a trench-coat stepped in. due to his coat, his face concealed by the coat, a hat, and an AR/VR mask. Venaticus knew he could see past the mask without any difficulty if he so chose, but he let it go for the time being - if he needed to so his face, he could do it later, after he had gotten what he needed.

The man glanced around the room, his eyes dropping on the drone detective for a long moment. The man turned to leave, clearly viewing the contact not worth the risk, until Venaticus waved slightly to draw his attention. Lacking an excuse now, the man resigned to his task, walking up to the table and taking a seat. then the man began to speak. His accent was Russian, though it could have been a high quality voice changer - it was hard to tell. "Take this cable, and plug it into comm-link. we speak through there , da?" he said, handing the Venaticus the end of a long data jack. a box in the middle confirmed it was an anti-virus protected link - not that he had any fear of viruses - he could put them to shame.

"Okay. You want me to take a look at your equipment now or in the morning?" Nolan said.

"Yeah, sure." Marlowe replied "'Nightly, 'night."

He slammed the door shut. Not of out any anger, mind you. That door always had a habit of not closing properly and when you have a vice like Charlie's, these little chinks could unleash disaster left unchecked.

"Oh yeah, that was one helluva night." He thought "Sami caught me at it, all because of that door."

One passing thought floated through his mind: call Sami, he decided against it and batted it into the air. At the moment, he was just wasting time walking to the apartment he regarded at his home. It was a chilly Seattle night, not the typical that would have included rain into the mix. He arrived home and went straight for his favourite sofa. Marlowe wasn't a couch potato, but his couch was more faithful to him then some of his women. It was like an old dog to him. Then again, he couldn't shake the feeling he just wasting time until the morning. Or that Kang T'se was too drunk to give anything useful to that young avenger or even turn up. He drank like a fish, and practically swam in it. He looked at the time: nearly eight. It was too late now to do anything about it anyway. Good thing that nuyen was still stashed in his suit pocket.

Charlie drummed his fingers. He really was wasting time. Might as well do something. Marlowe flicked through his notepad and stopped square on a name and workplace: Jason Hill, Manager at NeoNET Seattle.

Time to give him a call.

"Hello?"

Finwe had arrived home. When he asked about Nova it seemed she hadn't decided to stay here. Her choice.
Finwe called his other contact snitch. Naturally he didn't pick up. He never picked up the phone. He was extremely paranoid.
He was afraid that someone would listen to their conversation. But he was listening to his message right now. Finwe was sure of it.

Entering his boss mansion he went to his wing in the mansion.
"Home sweet home." No response.
naturally I live alone..
Looking around a bit disappointed when he didn't hear a single sound except for his own breathing.
A home does feel more like a home with someone around.. But in the quite it is easier to concentrate.

Finwe restocked his bag filling it with new medicine and supply.
How will I spend the upcoming days? I have nothing to do and it didn't seem like anyone had responded to my message.
Well I could study about my new toy's. That is handy as well as entertaining.

Finwe had a devious smile and picked an book out of his book cabinet about the newest gadgets and how they worked.

"Yeah, sure." Marlowe replied "'Nightly, 'night." He slammed the door shut.

Nolan looked at the door in confusion. "Yeah, sure, now...or yeah, sure, in the morning?" he asked of no one in particular. Whatever. He sat on the bed, pulled his shoes off, tossed his longcoat and hat onto a chair, and unholstered his machine pistol. As he started cleaning it, he thought back to all of the other Shadowrunners he had seen at the Club Raven: augmented, cocky, magic oozing through their veins. If he was going to be of any use to this team, odds are he would have to get some augs of his own...it wasn't a thought that pleased him.

Venaticus slipped on the data jack, soon information came flooding in and he had the home addresses of major members, minor members, and a good chunk of the nobody members as well as every single retired member. Where they met, what they sold and their hideouts. If he were human he would probably be laughing right about now. Venaticus quickly banked the information and slipped the man the fifteen hundred he owed him. The rest was going to Marlowe who he would meet later.

"Thank you for your help. Because of the nature of this, I won't offer you my card, though I am sure our lovely friend would be more than willing to set us up."

The man in the trench coat ordered a drink to look normal and keep appearances, laughing and saying "All right then buddy, see ya around at the job. Stay safe." Venaticus deduced that he was attempting to make this look like nothing in case someone was actually watching. How paranoid. Someone must have taken a shot at him.

Venaticus hopped in his car and as he was heading to his office, he entered the matrix and saw that Clarissa had sent him a message. Some human was in tears about his elf wife and the police weren't doing jack shit to help him. Yay, more dead elf girls. Venaticus saw his office building straight ahead, small little nook in the streets but it had served him well. Only two offices inside, one near the door for Clarissa and one for himself. The human was in the guest chair crying his eyes out. Bad memories apparently.

"Alright sir, yes yes ok. My boss is here, he can take it over." Clarissa walked over to Venaticus and whispered Good luck getting anything useful out of this guy, you are dealing with assassins now, be careful Rob. Venaticus used the name Roberto for Clarissa and anyone he met under conventional means. Having different names for different situations always made things easier. He beckoned the man in to his office and sat down in his desk. Arms folded he inquired "I am short on details for this, please explain what happened."

The man was short and had a full head of red hair. His eyes were green and he spoke slowly and then without warning speeding up. Venaticus had no problem keeping up, but most people would tell him to keep a singular pace. "Alright, I didn't witness it myself, but I was just sitting and someone comes and tells me my fiancee died. I asked how and he said I don't know! They were just walking you see, then a shot goes off and she..."

Venaticus stops him and says "I am sorry for your loss, we can work out payments after I catch him. I assume you know where her body is being held? Also, if you could come tomorrow a little more held together, we could talk about the more important details like her relationships. This will be important, trust me."

The man handed Venaticus written details on the morgue and slowly walked out. Still bawling, apparently about to call a taxi. Just what I need, another case to delay me further. Thought Venaticus.

Adam Strake: "Hello, this is NeoNET Security, Dete... Security Officer Strake speaking."

Nik: Hey there Strake, Lepechin here. How you been man?

Strake: "Lepechin? From the force Lepechin? Man, I haven't heard from you in ages! I'm doing great, got a nice desk job, good pay, and I even have a kid on the way. Can you imagine it? Me! A dad! Anyway, how bout you man? I haven't heard a word about you since you quit the force."

Nik: A kid? Congrats man, you and Lorrie did get hitched in the end I take it? Me? I been kept busy, I'm sorta into freelance consultancy work now, I mean, you know how I was never the happiest working the detective scene but when the Corporate Court are offering, you don't look a gift horse in the mouth know what I mean?

Strake: "I hear that. When the double-N offered me a job that payed more a quarter then Lonestar payed a year while I had a wedding to pay for, well you don't think twice. Anyway, it's great to hear from you man. What can ol'Strake do for you? If memory serves, I still owe you one or two from the Chinatown fiasco, and ain't nobody gonna say Strake don't keep his word or pay his debts."

Nik: Yeah, kinda why I called you actually. The CC have got me running some background checks on exec personnel for a few guys, and one of your boys is on the list. I just need the basic personnel file for some stuff, nothing NeoNET would be embarrassed about. And before you ask, I don't think he's in trouble or anything, just the Court reminding folks they're calling the shots. You know how they are for this shit.

Strake: "Damn man, you know how to milk your favors. I can't promise anything, NN keeps lots of their files on permanent-lockdown. It depends on who the the people on your list are."

Nik: [Sends name] There ya go. From what I can tell, he's just a run-of-the-mill suit, no real criminal record to speak of and the standard "friends higher up" waiving those few things he has done. I'd have just gone to Lonestar but you know how suits are for "opting out" of citizen watch.

Strake: "Yeah... and he also just closed the Kilmer deal that's been all over the news. I don't know man, this is a huge risk on my part... I can't just send you a file and be done with it. If NN catches word before the court releases their report, I'm out a job with a kid on the way. Hell, if this info lands in the hands of one of those damned runners, NN'll string me up from a lamp post."

Nik: I understand that completely man. Look, the CC just need his basic stuff from what I can tell, so maybe you can try getting what he would have given Lone Star? After all, no skin of NeoNET's nose either way, the guy's just being bitchy about his privacy. But obviously only if that's a can-do, I don't want you getting in trouble over this.

Strake: [long silence]

Strake: "Okay, I'll send you what I can... what do you want to know?"

Nik: Adam, you're a miracle. From what CC told me, any data is good data so just send me everything you can, I'll try t' make heads 'n' tails of it afterwards.

Strake: "Yeah yeah, just don't go spreading this around. [sends info]. So anything else you need that doesn't involve mild data theft."

Nik: That's great, thanks man. Sorry to call in my favour in such a shitty way, if you can get yourself down to the Down and Out on 5th sometime I can pay you back with beer. Other'n that, good luck with your kid and give Lorrie my best.

Strake cut the connection, and Nik could shake the feeling that he'd just burned another bridge to his old life.
But hey, he had the data. He'd head to the bar a couple of times on the off-chance that Adam changed his mind but optimism wasn't really Nik's style these days.

Well, no point letting the data just sit there. He pinged it Roberts' way, with a message:
A little birdie's told me some stuff. Enjoy.

He wandered to the kitchen and poured himself a drink. He was nearly out of juice. He looked out the window and awaited a response.

Contact: One of the judges that does traffic violations for Seattle is a friend of Vougner's from way back. Judge Masters lets the tickets slide and Vougner offers "financial support" to the good people of the Seattle traffic admin - judge masters included. We also know that Judge Masters doesn't have the power to let a VIP go without protection, so Vougner is breaking the law in that regard with no fall back plan.

Vougner Himself:
Mr. Vougner grew up in the FDC (Modern day Washington DC) area. He attended Harvard business school, achieving fair grades. He was hired by NeoNET after college and slowly worked his way up the ranks to his current position as VP of Novatech's Seattle Acquisitions Department. (Novatech is a major subsidiary of NeoNET)

He grew up in a wealth family, and therefore has expensive tastes. His love for things is directly proportional to its cost. He loves money above all things and between his inheritance and his earnings, he has no shortage of income. His most well known trait is his love for expensive vehicles - he has a collection of both modern and vintage sports cars at his Seattle estate valued at more then 2 million nuyen. He enjoys classical music - favoring the emotional pieces of composers like Mozart over the precise timed pieces of composers like Bach. He has a taste for alcohol of the finest varieties (favoring either strong alcohols such as stouts or fine wines depending on the situation) He also has a supply of real coffee - as expensive these days then the alcohol.

When he has time off, he tends to run with the upper-crust of Seattle - the snobby, old money kind. He has no one he socializes with on a constant basis, changing scenes as he chooses and on whims.

He is unmarried, but is known for having a different woman on his arm at every appearance. whether he hires them or is just that charismatic is not mentioned.

his work attitude is diligent: He knows that he needs the money and prestige the job provides and is smart enough not to waste it. What more, he works long hours because he enjoys his job. His job is to research companies in Seattle that are weakened and worth taking over, then passing the information up the chain so someone can make the purchase and do the negotiations. the Kilmer acquisition was his first job as negotiator. It went exceedingly well (it was not the first time NeoNET had tried to buy the company but Kilmer kept finding loop holes) As such, he is a NeoNET hero right now and a promotion is expected in the near future. He is expected to be made VP of Corporate Acquisitions (his bosses job) sometime this month, with his boss being moved up the chain as well.

He has no known medical conditions and stays in good shape despite his love for the finer things.

A pinging in his ear woke Roberts up

Should probably of turned that off he thought groggily, then he remembered he was technically on a job and trudged into the kitchen. A quick glance at the clock showed 4:27am, he'd had about 2 hours sleep, more than enough. He quickly made a cup of coffee and sat down to read Niks message.

As he read a plan began to form, granted it wasn't the most complex of plans but it would probably work. Pose as the head of a failing business, catch Vougers eye, find a way to get alone with him, maybe through the car collection. He began to write his message:

Nik,

Here's what we do. We need to find what companies Vouger is working on, then we need to find when he's meeting one of them. Before the meeting we swap out their representative for me, I'm schmooze up to Vouger and find a way to get us alone. Knock the the head, we're done. Obviously we spend a few weeks tailing the guy so I can pick up his nature.

Sound good to you?

Sebastian had been spending the rest of the day preparing his arms, and loading up some hacking programs to his wrist computer. He had also been retuning the heads up display on his armour, as the focus had been off center on recent contracts. To assist the HUD, he had acquired a smart link, which would not only provide better picture clarity, but also allow seamless weapons integration.

"Master Sebastian!" Lupo called out, sounding like there was an emergency.

"What is the problem Lupo? Did the kitchen catch fire?" Sebastian asked with a sarcastic tone.

"No sir, it seems you have a direct video call. Point of origin, 43°42'59.72"N 79°20'26.47"W."

"It's her, alright patch her through."

"Who sir?" Lupo asked, sounding confused as to the person's identity.

"My Mentor."

"Oh, I understand sir. I shall leave you two alone. Patching call through." Lupo said, realising the significance of such a call. Her voice soon went quiet, as the image on the apartment's TV screen changed, to that of the Wings of Shadow emblem, it slowly spinning. It soon changed again, this time to a woman of around fifty years of age, her long grey hair rested past her shoulders.

Sebastian: Mentor Kristina, A pleasure it is to see you again.

Kristina: Dispense with the pleasantries Sebastian, I have some sad news. You see, I am retiring from the Wings. After thirty years of leading our order, I believe it is time I hanged up my blades. You understand what this means don't you?

Sebastian: I do. Since I am the next senior assassin after you, I am to take charge of the Wings pending either your death or retirement. Unfortunately, I am unable to complete this order, as there still something that I must do here in Seattle, before I take up such a position. However, this does lead me to an idea that has been in thought for the past few months. You have always talked about expansion. How about we set up a branch here in Seattle, and I become the Mentor of this branch.

Kristina: Hmm, a potential idea. But you must understand Sebastian, since you were raised in this branch, your loyalties rely here.

Sebastian:I know, I know. Think about it, the amount of new recruits we have received has waned over the past few years, and I sense potential here for our order to expand. Many of them could work as Shadowrunners, since the world would see our actions as less than reputable, it provides the perfect cover.

Kristina: You have a point, I shall discuss this matter with the Council, and report back to you in a weeks time.

Sebastian: Thank you.

*END TRANSMISSION* The screen said, before returning to whatever program he was watching beforehand.

"So, I guess its my time." He told himself, before he went back to work.

Jason Hill, NeoNET weapons trader, hit his mattress with a resounding thud. His day had been hell; hell in business casual. Between the huge IT nightmare that was NeoNET's recent acquisition, the weapons testing for the UCAS military, the new Executive Submersible project, and all the extra shipments to help increase NeoNET's current security, the man wanted nothing more then to get some sleep. So, in keeping with karmic justice: his comm-link rang.

Jason glared at his comm, thinking [i/]"I hate you"[/i]. Believing it was someone from work, for apparently he was always on-call, he answered the phone. In his groggy voice he said [b/]"Hello?"[/b], ready for whatever task it happened to be

Roberts sent a message back in good time. Nik read through it quickly and nodded to himself. It seemed like a sound enough plan. As long as they worked out the finer details carefully enough it'd probably work, too. He responded as soon as he'd finished reading.

Sounds fine to me. One problem - how the hell do we find out these companies? Can hardly just walk up to him in that fancy restaurant and ask.

Nik looked out the window. He'd barely caught any sleep, same as most nights. He didn't have too many bad memories, but those he did kept him up. Well there was no point in going back to sleep, especially with this job Roberts had cooked up. He settled in his chair, switched on the trid and decided to watch the sun rise.

Jason Hill was a complete gentleman in his greetings, as always. Marlowe laughed, desperately covering his mouth so that poor ol' Jason wouldn't hear him. He felt sorry for him though, his co-workers must have him up all night, judging from that response. NeoNET must have been busy.

"Jason!" Charlie said, "Grab some coffee, I have a proposal for you. I think you'll like it."

@hiei82, I don't mind. I've been busy with college anyway.

Hacking He sent back At the meeting tonight we can ask if anyone can get into their system, not sure about you but frankly computers aren't my strong point; I've got tec to deal with computer locks and such. I'm thinking Venaticus if he isnt busy, hes certainly the best suited for the job. I'm gonna spend today around town finding out what I can, with luck we wont need a hacker in the first place.

Meeting is "tonight" yes?
