But Doug did get sick of what he was doing and quit. Then Demo Reel bombed horribly, and he went back to doing the Nostalgia Critic (which has finally started to be funny on a fairly regular basis again).Evonisia said:I get the impression that Nostalgia Critic and Yahtzee are some kind of bulletproof demi-Gods who are too cool to get sick of what they do.

From what I gathered, both. People weren't watching it, and a lot of them were asking for NC to come back, and those who did watch it seemed to be doing so because they were hoping for it to get good.Evonisia said:Was Demo Reel bad or just unpopular?soren7550 said:But Doug did get sick of what he was doing and quit. Then I guess Yahtzee is a demi-God who is too cool to ever get sick of his craft. He just gets sick of his other stuff like Let's Drown Out and updating Fully Ramblomatic.
Evonisia said:It's a matter of opinion of course, but I think Demo Reel's bombing had less to do with its quality, for better or for worse, and more to do with the internet audience's patented hatred of their entertainers even slightly deviating from their norm.soren7550 said:Was Demo Reel bad or just unpopular?
Nowhere but here are people faster to declare that all they want is more of the same. This is the same internet that had hundreds of members shouting that Cinema Sins was RUINED FOREVER!!! because they did ONE review in rhyme.
On the topic at hand, it's not surprising. Lindsay has always seemed uncomfortable with her role on CA, and often deconstructed the fact that she was hired as a distaff counterpart. I wish her luck in future endeavors.
Still... I just checked out channel awesome's website... I recognize barely anyone anymore. O.O I think Brad, Phelous, and Linkara are the only older members left, and there's a lot of new contributors of... varying quality.
If you're talking about the RWBY rants, I'm pretty sure that was reactionary. I'm not here to white knight someone I don't know, she's definitely got an aggressive attitude towards people who disagree with her. But the RWBY thing, I think she said on Twitter that she thought it sucked, and got message bombed by hundreds of people screaming at her for not liking an anime thing because she does anime and therefore needs to love RWBY, apparently. So she fired back.erttheking said:Didn't she also have a bad tendency to insult fans of things? I mean that's crossing the line into straight up douchebag territory if she did.
Spoony is a bit of a cock. As a reviewer I preferred him to most of Channel Awesome, especially when he held back on the skits and stuff. But he just doesn't seem like a nice person. Let's not even go into that whole Obscurus Lupa mess (I think it was her? I can't remember).GabeZhul said:The joke is that Spoony is making nearly 6k a month through Patreon, plus the ad money on his videos, and he still barely produces anything. Compare it to people like the Nostalgia Critic and Linkara, who are keeping to a weekly schedule PLUS doing a lot of side-content on top of that. What does Spoony do? One review every two months, a scant few Vlogs about wrestling and RPGs and now apparently he is making a movie, because that is not going to backfire on him like every movie any other internet reviewer made, amirite?.
I can understand being burnt out, but what's up with this? As I recall, she became The Nostalgia Chick by...winning a contest for "Who Wants to be The Nostalgia Chick!" If she was never fully comfortable with the premise, why enter the contest? o.osoren7550 said:citing having never been fully comfortable with the premise
Whoa, whoa, WHOA. When did all this go down? Jesuotaku quit? I used to be a fan of her. I feel so out of the loop now, it's crazy. What's the full story there?Soviet Heavy said:I think a lot of it had to do with her fans. any drama there?
That seems to be the case, from what I understand. I don't watch much of her content (though I did like her crossover with the Nostalgia Critic for the Digimon review), but apparently she has a love of bashing certain fandoms, mine included. I was unhappy to learn of it.erttheking said:Didn't she also have a bad tendency to insult fans of things? As for Lindsay, she did break into mainstream journalism about a year and a half ago if I'm remembering right, so leaving CA is no big loss. Honestly, a lot of these shows and content creators only go to CA to get secondary exposure from Doug Walker, and if they can make it on their own, there is no reason to stick around that website, especially with Patreon and Blip around.
From what I can remember, she does written reviews for an anime site now. Her departure wasn't a surprise as well, as she too was very infrequent with updates (the last thing she did prior to quitting being half of a review for the sub version of Attack on Titan about a year ago that she never did the second half to). I think part of her reason for quitting was that putting together the reviews was far too much work for her to handle, along with all the other shows she damn near never did.Fox12 said:Whoa, whoa, WHOA.
