Good morning/afternoon/evening depending on when you read this.

I'm looking for a MMORPG that runs on linux, I cant run windows, I don't expect amazing graphics I just want it to be fun and free. I wanted to play DOFUS but was saddened when i realized it wasn't free.

It also needs to be playable by Windows users since I would like to play with some friends.

(Sorry if this has been done a thousand times, and please no linux or mmorpg hate its pointless.)

If you need anymore info on what I am looking for just ask.

Thank you in advance if you help out at all =]

I'm sure you could find patches and the like for most MMO's...
Wish it was that easy haha, a lot of games need certain programs to run (all nexon games run through game guard which WINE cant run) so it makes them unplayable.

Ultima Online worked on Linux, if memory serves. Good luck trying to convince people to play it though, it's way old. Playing on shards is legal, and also the most free experience you'll get MMO wise.

Allods Online is also supposed to work, it's one of the many WoW ripoffs. It's F2P, although has micropayments, and the production values are quite high. It's actually more polished than a lot of sub-based MMO's. Seeing as it's free, I suggest giving it a try.

Dude. You're running Linux. That means you can get The Plumbing in Space Game (I think it's actually called XKobo). Why would you ever need another game beyond that ever?

It's not an MMO, but the shadowgrounds series runs on linux, and it's a great game. It didn't do all that well, which is a shame, because I enjoyed it immensely even though i got it for onlt $10.

Why don't you just run Windows games in Wine [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_%28software%29]? I have limited experience with it myself since I have only dabbled in Linux, but I suspect you can pretty much run any Windows based software with it.

Quite a few games dont run through wine or if they do they dont run as well as they should, Dungeons and Dragons online for example has problems with the chat which is a bit crucial for the enjoyment of an mmo. Thank you for the reply however =]

Linux IS NOT compatible with most software supplied by Windows!
Good grief, I had this problem so ended up going back to Windows.. writing in flames does get boring eventually ;[ Get Windows back and play Dragon Age: Origins.

Dual booting is the way to go. I had nightmares with the bootloaders and disk formats and partitions and drivers and blahblah so I just gave up and stick to windows.
