Lionhead Needs To Listen!

I suspect you all have heard of Fable, Black & White, or the Movies through wither yourself, a friend, or as I had, Zero Punctuation and family. I played the original Fable on the Xbox, and it was okay. All it needed to do was work out a few gaming issues, like balance. But over the years, the Fable series took a deep plunge with Peter Moleneux's hype and Lionhead's promises of a better game. Black & White and The Movies were both games to take this plunge as well. But here, I want to talk about Fable.

I have seen on sites that there are little, 'Your Fable 4 Ideas'. I', proud that you all think that you can make an old dying game better. But sorry to tell you, even on their own site, they don't listen to you. It's a fact, sorry. They think they have better things than listen to us and our needs, but hey need to. Otherwise, their game will plunge with the company and they will no longer be part of the major gaming industry. That's where I, and the rest of us, come into play.

We all can make a change in the gaming industry. We all praise a game, there might be a better and cooler sequel. We shun a different game, that game has no interest to the public. We ignore another game, nothing happens and it's as if the game never came out. Here's my idea. What I want you all to do is post your ideas in the comment section. After March 31, 2011, I'm going to take all of the results, I'm going to make a GIANT list (if there are copies or unnecessary comments, they won't be included], get enough stamps to send it to Guildford, Surrey, UK (where Lionhead Studios is located) and email them the same list, just to make sure they get the message. If we want a better game, we need to work for it!

Thanks for the support and hopes for a better game (yes, I WILL do one later for other games, just stay posted)

I think there was a link here a few weeks back that was to a survey being done by Lionhead about what people liked and disliked about the Fable series because they actually wanted fan input for improving Fable 4. I'll try and dig it up for ya.

OT: Shoot the dog and get rid of the jobs. My job is being an adventuring hero not a blacksmith or bartender.

Oh and for god's sake don't pull that same money BS for the good ending like was done in Fable 3, I literally spent a solid 12 hours or so just having my xbox on while the game slowly accrued money. Let me tell ya, that was not a good way to end the game because it really shot the pacing to hell.

I've tried to contact them before, and they haven't responded before, but I believe that if more than one person throws a stone, then the glass house will shatter eventually.

They make games how they think they should be, if people don't like their vision of what fable should be then people wouldn't buy them and they would do something else.

People obviously like their vision for the games or they wouldn't buy them.

Some people buy because people hype up the game, and then the game disappoints them. That might be the reason why some people buy the game.

Lionhead will listen when people stop buying their games in droves.

Basically, here's the thing:

-Molyneux promises the second, third, or fourth coming of Christ.
-People buy the game.
-The Devs, pubs, and shareholders all see that empty, ridiculous promises and half-complete games sell, validing steps 1-3.
-Repeat steps 1-3/

I liked Fable, Fable 2 and Fable 3.

I liked the boss fight at the end of fable 2 and the choice you had to make, I like the surprise twist at the end of Fable 3. I think it was Awesome

So it's just a huge coincidence that the Knothole Island DLC for Fable 2 addressed and fixed a lot of issues that fans had with the game... they ignored all the feedback yet still managed to produce things that the fans wanted?

If so, they're even more talented that I thought.

Out of curiosity, how do you prove an non-action? Where's the evidence for them not listening?

I've seen quite a lot of responses from Lionhead staff on forums, not just their own, but on other gaming forums as well.

This post seems to be trying to make a point, but its muddled by the weird language.

You seem to think that making a list of fable ideas is somehow going to make the 4th entry in the series less broken.

Based on this post, if you write the list, we'll end up with a fable 4 thats somehow more of a mess than the last three.

edit: if you think you have the chops to make the best and greatest game in the world, then get out and do it. don't post about it on the internet. That is soooo lame.

Seriously. Your attempt at contact may not have been responded to, but that does not mean it was ignored. You have to realise that they get thousands upon thousands of people contacting them every day, they can't respond to everything.

I hate to make what is essentially a "this" post but there is really nothing more to be said.

This is the dumbest idea I've ever read. Send them a letter? Why? Why not an email?

Shit, if you're that insistent, fucking hand them the letter yourself so you can be there when they throw it in the trash.

Plus, they already have a survey on their website. You say they don't listen to us? That they'll ignore the results? Fuck off. They wouldn't be doing it in the first place.

Besides, Fable 2 was awesome. Fable 3 would've been fine if not for the weird fucking fundraiser and final boss.

No no no no, that is the main problem of the series, listening to fans.
Fable 1 was done without fan input, just one fairly consistent idea implemented well and the result was awesome.
Fable 2 and 3 however had user input for "improvements", and it just went horribly wrong, because masses are dumb and should never have a word in game production.
There may be a hand full of people who have good ideas, but they are overshadowed by the many who just want WW2 and zombies in every single god damn game.

They need to get their sh*t together and implement their own ideas only, otherwise it will always be a mess.

Are you the same 'Aerista' over at Project Ego, who's ideas for Fable IV are for Lionhead to work with Team Silent and Bethesda (I suppose you want them to make the Dog Armour you want) and for Fable IV to feature Captain Picard?

Are you the same 'Aerista' who hates the customisation aspect of the Fable games, who thinks the games are racist because you can't choose to be an "African American" (despite being set in the equivalent of Old England and having a hereditary protagonist), who thinks the games should start using "next gen technology" (what, like an X-Box 720?), and who's been publicly saying they hate Peter Molyneux?

If so, then there could be a reason Lionhead haven't replied to you...

P.S. You do realise that the Project Ego site isn't Lionhead, right? That it's a fan site and not Lionhead's official Fable site?

If that person isn't you, then I apologise for assuming that you were the same person, but I suggest that you change your handle, because there's a real loon who uses the same handle as you, who's been making threads with crackpot ideas for Fable IV and slagging off Peter Molyneux over on the Project Ego fan site, so it could be unfortunate if you've been using that same handle in your correspondence to Lionhead.

Really? I thought the money system was much improved. By the time i got to the end of the game i had something like 15 million gold...

The way i did it was to work making pies an playing lute hero until i got about 4000 gold. I did this at the very start just a little after i got to Brightwall for the first time. Then when i unlocked the landlord chest i bought a house and rented it out (set rent to high), then i did a few quests while the money came in and when i got enough i bought another three. Next i did quests and the story until i got to the point where you can unlocked the chest that lets you buy shops. By that time i had enough to buy Brightwall general goods, once again set the price to high and accumulate until you can buy more shops and rinse and repeat till you have then all (i just kept doing quests/exploring while i was waiting so i also got a tone of guild seals too). Just before you go to Aurora set all the prices to highest and sell the houses (Except the mansions in Milfields...there the rich they can afford it) by the time you get back to Albeon the sanctuary treasure room should be bursting with gold)

What's more remarkable is that the morality and attractiveness meters never left the green side of the scale. So if that's important to you then you can follow that method and still be a good hero. Also apart from once at the start you never need to work for gold again...win imo

less gay
You suggest that they take out the feature that allows homosexual marriage and intercourse? That would hardly be fair or inclusive.

Fable 2 was the highest selling "RPG" ever on consoles when it came out. Fable 3 made money too. How about they go with what makes them a profit?

What Fable 4 needs:

1) More Heroes besides just you being worshiped by NPCs as the fucking messiah
2) Less fundraising
3) A PROPER final boss. Fable 3's was better, but it still felt weak because by that point you're so powerful that you can lay waste to entire armies. My first time through I beat the final boss without ever once getting hit.
4) Actually, the entire game is too easy. Raise the difficulty
5) The ability to DIE again!
6) Massively different story lines for both evil and good. Seriously, Fable 2 and 3 just have 'save the kingdom' or 'save the kingdom but be a bit of a dick about it' options. We need GOOD (saving the world) or BAD (razing the kingdom to the ground and/or becoming a horrible ruler in a way that DOESN'T still make you good by default)

If Lionhead pull off even a few of these it'll be a big improvement! Oh, wait a minute...

7) Don't make us have to manually repair all of our houses!

Okay, I'm done. Now if they could do all of these, Fable 4 would be epic! Wait...

8) Make marrying NPCs have some proper effect on things. If you're going to have marriage in the game, give us something out of it. At the moment it just results in us having a generic NPC wife/husband and generic NPC kids walking around leeching your time and money. you don't get anything out of it.

OKAY, now I'm finally done.
