Its Brianna Wu. That's about par for the course for her honestly. I admit that I'm quite amused by how she's effectively denying the existence of lesbians and bisexuals there though. Bet nobody called her out on it either.

Honestly though this kind of moral indignation over something so silly and petty helps nobody. Though I'm singularly unsurprised that it happened. The current climate of fear and hate over everyone and everything being sexist that is being fostered lends itself well to jumping on anything like this.
true, but calling out an extremist tends to just let them play the victim card even harder.

I'll admit it is extremely silly, but isn't that part of the pro-feminist thought, is women having the "choice" to do what they want? such as cleavage appreciation day?

Sure, if a dude is taking skeevy pictures of chicks unknowingly and posting them, that is fucked up, but all of the pictures I've seen using that hashtag were chicks *proudly* showing off pictures of them with cleavage, so I'm not sure what angle someone could have short of having their jimmies rustled because they are prudish.

Its important to remember that the Escapist isnt anywhere near an exact representation of the rest of the internet. Some places (like here) are generally for it, while others are generally against it. Which is why these can seem like imaginary controversys

This just reinforces my idea that the Internet needs to be shut off for about a month. No notice, just on one day then off the next. People are far too dependent on the net these days and it's actually disheartening to see someone trying to bring a bit of humor to the world only to be chastised for what they wanted to show. It's no longer freedom of speech or press, it's freedom so long as nobody gets offended and that's not the right road we need to be heading down.

No, no, that's National Beer Day. This one should be celebrated once a fortnight.

This. It may have been immature humor, but it was worth posting for the snicker it would get out of people. Snickers are good. Snickering is better than dead-facing your whole life through.

I used to think 4chan was the asshole of the internet, but I'm beginning to believe Twitter is the "educated" equivalent of /pol these days.
I think 30 minutes per day, 5 comments and reading all of the replies to them on 4chan should be mandatory for everyone on the internet. 4chan is place where people go to fling shit and get shit flung at them. With double shield of anonymity(you can post with no consequences and no one can really touch you because they don't know your background). People should get immunized against outrage and start dealing with issues constructively.

You don't stick a dick in a beehive. Dealing with blowback from these types is rarely worth it, even if you are right.

Lionhead should've just ignored the trolls and gone on with their day... By deleting the tweet they're encouraging these people to harass others, too.

I see your not so subtle implication here. It's that the one who remains calm in a dispute has the stronger position, whereas the other party lashes out in frustration when their argument is refuted.

The problem is that this view of the current situation doesn't line up with reality. Online protests coming out of the SJW and feminist camps are rooted in appeals to emotion, portraying hurt feelings and the state of being offended as king, and this fact is proudly advertised by the participants. Raising questions about the validity of the protest is forbidden. Dissent of any kind is called out as harassment or a manifestation of privilege, and is sufficient grounds for blocking someone on Twitter.

So I ask, are these online protests really akin to calm, rational arguments that invite discussion and are capable of withstanding scrutiny?

We're talking about the internet here. If outrage level is a good indicator of the (lack of) merits of an opinion, it then follows that discussion board trolls are usually in the right. After all, they generate significant outrage in response to their posts, right?

She does realize that there are women who like cheesecake as well. Having only that is bad, but getting rid of it completely is bad too.

Their follow up tweet doesn't even make sense:
"We apologise for the imagery we shared earlier. Diversity & inclusion are values we uphold here. We'll reinforce these values w/ our team."

Are they trying to say that 'diversity & inclusion' is at the exclusion of women with large breasts showing some cleavage?

People seem to want to complain about anything nowadays. What?s the point of having a National Cleavage Day if you aren?t allowed to celebrate it by showing some cleavage? Is it just because it?s a video game company doing it, and they?re the media/Tumblr/Twitter?s favourite whipping boy?

Maybe we should just start a National ?Social-Media-Get-Your-Shit-Together? Day, but rad-fems aren?t allowed to attend on the grounds of being sex-negative trolls with no lives.

Now, if you?ll excuse me, I?m going to walk out of my house naked and wearing nipple clamps to show support for male body confidence and to express my sexual freedom as a tax-paying BDSM practitioner.

It's really indicative of how toxic the environment has become in videogames when these nutjobs can bully developers for innocent tweets like that.

Don't you know women with big tits are evil and premote sexism, misogyny, objectification and harms women everywhere therefore they should be removed?

God I could'nt say that without laughing once...these people need to take the prickly stick out of their asses.

Getting real tired of the moral outrage brigade each and every single day.
And I'm sick of people blowing things out of proportion and making people who complain about anything at all to be anti-fun and having no sense of humor.

But...neither of those two things are going anywhere are they.
