Datascope may have done it again, as the recruiter is currently looking for a pair of programmers to work on "exciting new Little Big Planet projects." While the posting for a tools programmer contains essentially no other hints about the nature of those projects, the "PSP Game Engine Lead" position slips out one more thing.

PSP is still supported!? Wow...

...being honest even if LBP comes out in some form on PSP, it will not be enough to revive a dead console.

The PSP is my little emulation device, with internet as a bonus. The UMD tray is for holding snacks.
I wouldn't buy LBP on the PSP, nor pirate it, because I have a PS3.

Actually I could totally see this happening to promote the PS3 as well.

The PSP and PS3 together are excellent, with the remote connect, extra controller, store support, etc.

LBP already supports the PS3 eyetoy and they sure as heck didn't plan on doing it until they saw how excited people were for the game. Now put it on the PSP and give it bonuses and there's a possibility of both systems selling.

I am one of those people who REALLY wants to play LittleBigPlanet but doesn't own a PS3. Having LBP on the PSP would be the greatest gift of all to me seeing how I really only play the Hot Shotz Golf games on my PSP...there just isn't anything worth buying right now...

So uhh, I see tons of PSP games, like God of War, that Warhammer 40k game, patapon, Force unleashed, Metal Gear portable ops, Crisis Core, etc.

Is it really neglected or am I out of the loop?

I would say you're sarcastic.
The PSP is not dead and if they made a LBP game for PSP, well it would be the first game I bought since Daxter...3 years ago I beleive.

It's not dead I just don't spend much money on games.

I tried to get into playing games online with my PSP but I realized at one point I could instead play Counter Strike on my PC and not end up with painful crap hands. If I could play the PSP online while on the train, in class, or eating lunch I'd love it but since I can only manage it at work or at home it's not very helpful.

That being said I still love the thing and am waiting impatiently for the Star Ocean remake to come out. I wish I had bought my PSP earlier so it wasn't such a pain in the ass to get homebrew on it but I got it at late 3.something firmware and upgraded to 4.something before realizing I could be playing Chrono Trigger on the thing. Now it just sounds like too much of a hassle to get custom firmware on there...seriously, I have to buy a modded battery to accomplish that? Not going to happen.

It would be rather interesting to see LBP come to the PSP. I certainly would be impressed, but seeing as it is not my cup of tea I wouldn't buy it. I have a well constructed and still growing library of games for the thing and unlike so many pessimists, I love it and make good use of it. Those who say crap like "its still supported", "it's dead", "no games" and all that garbage, well guess what, the DS isn't any better, both got their share of trash and gold.

Anyways, good find there, lets hope it's true.

I was contemplating buying a PSP after browsing the games list and seeing that it went way above my "5 games I want for it" minimum (if I can't find at least 5 games I want for a system, I don't bother getting it). It really didn't appear 'dead' to me >.>

Am I missing something here or is it just that since the DS and PSP have been out forever people are just getting kinda 'meh' with them.

To be honest Shatnershaman, I think you're gonna get screwed on this. This is pure speculation, but I think its just to allow users to download levels onto theirPsps and play them on there.
Well the same thing happened with Wipeout HD and that came out. Crossing my fingers, toes, tongue and everything.

Put up next to the DS the PSP is not that noticeable. The DS has more titles, more innovation and the new one is coming out.

But the PSP does well enough that there will be a PSP 2 and it will likely be better designed for the gaming public. Longer batttery lkife, more durable structure (you look at it funny and your screen gets scratched, that's a problem, if I can't take it out, I'll just play PS2)

It is an untapped market that Sony is going to expand upon Xbox style.

Either 1. download a PS emulator to it and play star ocean that way. or 2. Realize that the game will require you to install the latest firmware update to play the PSP UMD version of it.
