Sniper rifle range adjustment:

Shooting at 300 meters, and then 800, requires an adjustment of the scope, or manual adjustment by overshooting.

All combat optics, even red dots, have a preset range adjustment. High-magnification scopes designed for sniping are usually adjustable, to compensate for bullet drop over long distances. Judging said distance, without a rangefinder, can be a great gameplay element, resulting in more skills needed for sniping.
What about using a scope with the increasingly short horizontal lines under the crosshair, representing 1.75m or so at increasing ranges?

OT: Special attacks.

They must be worth doing sometimes, and worht not doing sometimes. Also, they should work when you want them to and not work when you don't...none of the pointless ones that go off by themselves occasionally when the computer feels like it.

seriously now? i made a thread on this exact topic only about 4 days ago. I don't usually say this, but Search Bar!
Try typing in 'little things' to the search bar and see how many threads come up. None of them under your name, I might add.

Unless you didn't have those words in the title... in which case I would love you to let me know what exactly you think should have been searching for - perhaps you would like if I tried every random word in the English language, until a similar thread popped up?

PLEASE LET ME SKIP CUTSCENES!!!

This is usually just before a major boss fight or something, you know how it is...
JRPG and Squaresoft/Squeenix titles are primary offender in my experience. I hated that.
Also, They should ban Quick Time Events, or at least use it ONLY when it matters.

Well, to me little ideas/thing that all game should follow probably would be branching plots, or that immersion in Deus Ex -- I really love the way the game recognizes ALL of your actions, would be turned up to eleven as well if they break the fourth wall at the same time.

The BIG IDEA would be to have QUALITY RELEASE!!!! This includes PORTING. Yes I'm looking at you closely Deus EX HR. Do not disappoint me.

Pauseable and skippable cutscenes, other than that there are no mechanics that every game should have.
Hell even those aren't aplicable to every game, imagine if Heavy Rain allowed you to skip scenes, though they should always allow at least pausing.

Every game should have an SDTV mode like Vanquish's

I don't even play games on an SDTV any more but I sympathize with people who do. People playing on SDTVs should accept lesser quality visuals and other annoyances due to their outdated sets, but unreadable text is not something they should have to deal with.

right analog stick for camera control. this of course doesn't apply to computers, but i've never had a computer worth playing a game on.
I agree. I despise the platforming in God of War because they don't give the player camera control, which is rule number one of 3D platforming.

Most non-adjustable scopes have that, but for obvious reasons it's not possible on a scope designed for 300-1400 meter increments.
Not enough room for all those lines.

As a sidenote, there's also other factors such as the direction and speed of the wind, which modern scopes can adjust for as well, but I'll wager that it's a lot harder to properly implement.
