For me its:
-COD Black Ops Splitscreen and the fact that one person can press start and it won't pause for both people.

-God of War 3 autosaves just in case you ae an idiot and don' save for 3 hours and ed up turning your system off.

-You don't have to byurn your stuff onto a cd to put them on your ps3 (looking at you Xbox -_-)

-Skippable cutscenes (Fuck you Final Fantasy 10)

-Customizable controls (Honestly practically 90% of games have this but the FEAR games don't. I don't want to use the R2 trigger to shoot and L1 for grenades wtf)

I looooove being able to see your feet in FPSs. It's a little thing, but when I look down and see those tootsies, it's just a wonderful moment.

In Lair of the Shadow Broker, if you die during a stage of the fight with the rogue Spectre, it restarts you at the furthest stage you reached, instead of doing the entire fight over. I found that nice.

To reiterate:

- Unskippable cutscenes make replaying games a chore
- Customizable controls are a godsend to southpaws (like me)

And to add:

- Invincible AI escorts (there's nothing worse than seeing a Game Over because an ally ran gleefully into the crossfire. I'm looking at you, FF:Tactics)
- Achievements which are actually achievements (completing an obligatory mission isn't an achievement. It's called playing the damn game)
- Double-edged mechanics / tools (I like being forced to compromise)
- Well-written mission text and UIs (I don't need to be hand held, but I *do* need unambiguous advice)

Custom Soundtracks. I put together a massive playlist and only a couple games use the feature. I love game music and all, but I wish the option was there more often.

Humour, in any game. If a game can make me smile or laugh then I'm happy. :3

seeing your reflection in mirrors in games and just seeing physics for little things like: a lamp, chair, soccer balls etc. (weird I know)

A lot of good ones mentioned, but I am also going to go with item descriptions. For some reason, I love reading them, especially if they are clever and creative like Fable's.

In Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, how the girl (Forgetting her name for a moment) would gasp every time you almost fell.
It really added a feel of realness, like, underneath it all, she was watching you and worrying.
While we're on the subject, how the game didn't have long cutscenes.
Dialog was spoken as you played.

I gotta say the little lines the darklings say in 'The Darkness' are pretty humorous (if completely and utterly random. They break up the tense and dark world of the game.

I like it when the weather changes in video games. I don't know why, but I do. >.>

I love cutscenes where the characters are actually playing a scene (ie Mass Effect) instead of just standing opposite each other going through three of four hand motions (ie most other RPGs).

When a game can just step back and laugh at itself, or if a character breaks the fourth wall.

Also, Grenades set to a button, NOT A SEPARATE WEAPON!

I like some off-placed humor in a normally serious game (i.e. Grunts in Halo)

Physics on different objects is always fun to see. Also, if someone is dead for more than 5 seconds, having their corpse still being a ragdoll rather than instantly going into rigor mortis is nice.

Day/Night cycles and weather are both little things that I enjoy. Even the simple "it is raining" message in Dwarf Fortress makes it feel that much moodier. I find that sneaking around at night is always more fun, even if the only difference is a visual one.

I love what everyone else has said. But honestly what i love in most games now is character creation screens in the beginning!

Some times I can't seem to get into a game and truly sink into the plot if the main character is the polar opposite of me or is just a total wuss or D-bag.

I like in strategy or tactics games, or really, any other games where there are lots of little unimportant generic guys who don't have names: But they are given names. Usually randomly generated and that's fine. It's totally not important, but it's always a nice touch.
