I don't like ME2 as much as Mass Effect for many reasons, but one of the little things that annoys the absolute shit out of me is that in the codex I can no longer scroll through the text using the mouse wheel. It's small but it is sooooooooo fucking frustrating.

I have found though that Tales of the Elder Scrolls is like D&D, you will always love your original one most, and the newer ones suck balls.

I love 3.5ed best for D&D and I think 4th is "Dumbed down" I have mates who played 2nd ed first and say the same of 3.5 ed (I don't actually know anyone who played 3rd ed).
*waves hand*

I started with 3rd edition, so perhaps I can offer some insight on that. Fact is, that the shift from 3 to 3.5 was so small, and changed so little about the game that most players were more than happy to switch, at least, that's how my group saw it. I personally disliked the condensation of some of the rogue's skills at first but I warmed up to the idea after a couple of sessions with it. And my resistance to 4th edition is that I've spent over $1,000 on 3rd/3.5 manuals and am not willing to shelve them just yet.

On topic though, I miss the item descriptors from Dragon Age, and being able to talk to your companions wherever you want, okay, it was annoying when all you were trying to do was open a chest and you accidentally clicked on Allistair and it ended up starting a big fight with him because you were sleeping with Leliana and not him and... I've side-tracked myself again...

DA 2-No item details, not being able to talk to my companions, Darkspawn (seriously, why put a potion in the game that triples your damage done to those creatures when you hardly ever see them?), really expensive but super useful stuff. I remember looking in some of the shops in Origins and going, "Man, if I just had enough gold, I'd be unstoppable." Nothing like that in DA 2.

ME 2-Exploring planets. Between scanning and driving the Mako, I'll take the Mako any day. Getting out of said Mako to kill a Threshar Maw on foot and watch the EXP sky rocket. EXP for killing things. Non-reloading weapons.

Suikoden III and onward-Pesgmegra or however you spell his name. I want to know what his relationship is with Yubar blast it!

The plot and freedom Bionic commando -should- have had...

Oh I do miss it...

Add Kotor 2, what they ripped out as well.

Oblivion's biggest fault...is the TONS of "little things" they removed since Morrowind. In Morrowind, Soul Gems looked different, as did potions. You knew it was a grand soul gem or a petty soul jem just by how it looks. And potions came in many different bottles, determined by weight and quality (I think). Also variety in armor, clothing,....SPEARS.

Theres more too, but it really hurt Oblivion. Still an amazing game, but Morrowind is far better.

The same seems to apply with TES, "Oblivion is shit, Morrowind is better" "No way, Dagger fall is the greatest" etc.

EDIT: Oh yeah, OT: I miss the personalised "pimping" for each gun in Army of Two. In the original some guns were all chrome with diamond crusted, barrel mounted sheilds, others were black with pure white skulls, I'm pretty sure the Deagle had purple Fleur De Lis on the handle and a gold plated barrel etc. Where as in The 40th Day, they are all just gold plated with a chrome detailing, but it's a flat looking gold. Does that make sence?

They did add in like, tiger print and smiley faces and such, but I miss buying the pimped upgrade just to see what it looked like.
The problem with Oblivion, they took out more than they put in. And actually, most people who favor Oblivion, are those who just have difficult not having the easier fighting, and the physics. Most people who liked it more than Morrowind played Oblivion first. As for DnD, there is no way, opinion or not, that 4th is better. How did they think removing Lawful Evil and Chaotic Good, the two best alignments. The coolest characters are those mastermind villians (Lex Luthor, Dr Doom) and rogue heros (Robin Hood, Wolverine, Deadpool)
I played very little Morrowind. At the time I had a severe hatred of First Person perspective games and difficulty navigating worlds in those games.
I also couldn't start as a vampire, which upset me as at the time I wore a lot of black and eye liner and thought that Vampires were the awesomest thing ever.

I didn't particularly enjoy Oblivion either, but I did find that I liked it more, but that probably has to do with the 7 or so years in between the two experiences.

I also agree with the proposition that 4th is inferior to 3.5 ed.

I still enjoy 4th though so... yeah. But on the alignments, they didn't remove CG and LE, they just merged NG and NL with CG and LE, and called them Good and Evil.
It's just simplifying it and making the system make less sense when looked at in any detail. The old system with 2 axis could be easily explained to newcomers, this is less obvious and is easier to explain if you just say, "This is how the old system worked... the new one is the same minus these two."
