The inclusion of Seymour (Fry's Dog from Futurama) in Fallout: New Vegas add-on Lonely Road made me smile a little, but also made me sad.

In Portal, when you find "The cake is a lie" written on the wall repeatedly, the last line has a big mark going down the wall on the end of the last e in "lie", as if the person writing it was completely insane and had less control of him/herself =P I laughed when I noticed it!

The first Command & Conquer, where the soldiers did push-ups when they stood around idling for too long. It started a grand tradition.

When individual parts of a playable character actually moves freely. The best examples would be hair. The Prince's hair in the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time trilogy, and Dante's hair in Devil May Cry 2, would be prime examples of this little detail that I enjoy seeing in games.

Also ripple effects in water. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance would be an excellent example of this. Especially when you get two players wading through the water at the same time. Brilliant effects.

Ha! This was so terribly translated in the german version of Baldurs Gate.
It said, translated back into English, "You have to icrease your party's size before you can venture forth"

Pure genious!

OT: Anytime I see a crime scene in a sandbox game like Fallout or Skyrim for eyample.
Reconstructing what happened is sooooo fun to me.

Attention to detail in regards to NPC's dialouge.

One of my favorites was in Halo 1 when a friendly NPC would die and another would run up to his corpse and talk like he was trying to shake him a awake or something just for the added dramatics "Hey get up GET UP MAN!"

Another example is in the terrorist hunts on RSV2

Terrorist 1 "I see ya"
(I lean around the corner and take his head off with my SPAS 12)
Terrorist 2 "HE'S DEAD THEY KILLED HIM!"
Terrorist 3 "Go check it out"
Terrorist 4 "FUCK YOU MAN YOU GO!"
Terrorist 2 "Christ I'm tired of this shit"

lol nothing too fancy but still pretty funny

Most recently it was in Dragon's Dogma where my party was getting decimated by a group of hardcore bandits so I sprinted away and hid behind a big rock like the wimpy mage I am. The two pawns I hired where both knocked out, so my main pawn picked one up and stashed him behind the rock with me and then went back and picked the other pawn up and did the exact same thing before running over and finishing off the bandits. As soon as they were dead he sort of saluted/waved at me and then just started mining for ore as if nothing happened. My main pawn is such a fucking show off at times.

But ultimately the whole time I was playing Fallout New Vegas I was constantly smiling at the numerous Easter Eggs I was coming across. Apart from the the moment I found Fry's dog Seymour. That made me kind of sad.

Honestly, that whole scene made me smile.

Metal Gear Solid. The Psycho Mantis scene and several others were hilarious.

Also, the dialogue before the supposedly final boss from No More Heroes. Watch from 3:40

edit; coding hates me. Basically a jib at Duke Nukem Forever and a fast forward effect, all the while gleefully breaking the fourth wall.

Teleroboxer is a first-person boxing game on the Virtual Boy. It's also hard as balls but after you get your ass kicked you get the best Game Over/You Lose screen ever. You're a robotic boxer so once your HP hits zero the screen cracks and goes all static-like before blinking out into total blackness.

I'm going back and playing Final Fantasy X. That being said BLITZBALL!!!

Remedy is really good for adding those little things, in my opinion. The little TV shows in Max Payne, for example.

Calendar Man was a pretty big character in Arkham City, that was pretty cool. Well, he wasn't huge but, you know. Also, I think having Hugo Strange as one of the main villains was cool.
