Well, remember that if you're targeting for adults:

1. Don't include any pokemon/characters outside of the original two (red and blue)
2. Don't make the main characters 10 year olds (Yes, I know that would be accurate to the original, but kids are annoying as hell.)

As an expansion on 2, maybe you could introduce some adult situations (IE: Rave, booze).

And make Team Rocket a bit less.... retarded...
Had been thinking about the possible adult situations, activities. Was thinking someting involving a after battle party, involving booze and the such. The idea of a sequel is still pretty far off though

The way I see it, keep the original sountrack in, maybe improve it. The last Airbender made that mistake by not keeping the original soundtrack in.

Oh and do keep the running gag of Ash's mom telling him to change his underwear, I always laughed at that during the first season

A few years ago, some friends and I wrote a script. The script was for a mock-Pokemon movie called Jokemon (named after the main character, Joe). Now bear in mind that we were only 12/13 when we wrote this; the script was utter genius. It was funny, smart and packed with euphemisms. Yes, I know I am blowing my own trumpet, but I don't care. It was awesome.

We attempted to turn it into a movie. We built a cast and began filming the first scene. Then, we had one big problem.

HOW DO WE ANIMATE THE POKEMON?!?

We initially used Flash, but none of us were that great on it, and could only use our mouse to draw. We did think of dressing people up, but costume would be rather expensive and also difficult to make...
So, with that, Jokemon came to an end. Somewhere on my computer, I have the first take of the opening scene.

It should be aimed at generation 1, and should be a parody of the games, manga, and anime with an original main character.

I too have been wanting to make a live-action Pokemon movie... although, I'll probably make it into a comic...

Yeah, and Team Rocket can be gate-crashers!

I agree with everyone who says it should be based off the games not the anime, but my one request is that the legendary Pokemon should be included, and that the protagonist has approiately epic battles with them (and hopefully catches them). And of course, Mewtwo would be among them.
no offense but catching(or battleing) legendarys isn't a good idea, thier so big and improtant they really have to be the entie focuse of the movie to do them justice, if your going to do a story about a trainers journey, gym leades and all you shouldn't try to shoe horn in the legendary, some people would get a kick out of seeing thier fav pokemon, but most wouldd be really angry about the injustice their done.

I think you should include the whole intro thing. You know, where in the games Oak talks about the world of pokemon. I would add that, give it a kinda sweeping shot of the pokemon world and then transition it into the character your having as your main protagonist.

I'm gonna sit on this movie for some time, and (you can all laugh) I want to get a budget for it. Before that, I need the authority to use the license. Basicaly, this is gonna grow and grow as a side project until I can get proper funding, so the animation can be properly done

I don't have very much confidence in that idea but if you do it be sure to use puppets instead of CG, sure it's more physical work but it's possibly less time-consuming and will look better than cheap Computer effects (you don't want your movie to look like a made for sy-fy movie, do you?) as for storyline you can go the quick retelling route or do a darker more realistic take of the series, such as actual injuries suffered by the Poke'mon, trainers abusing their Poke'mon or poke'mon used against people in violent crimes.
But I'm not sure if this should even be made. I kinda hope you can make it just to prove me wrong and restore my faith in the idea of one person persevering to achieve their goals.
Good Luck.

I would actually tell a different story, maybe make Ash a bit older. It was said that the main age group would be 18 or 20 ish. Make him that age, and go about the whole movie with a deliberate sense of self aware wit.

At least that's what I'd do. Though I'd condense the main 8 badge quest to one definable goal, and Giovanni would be a much more legitimate threat. Team Rocket would still be comedy relief, but they wouldn't be horrendously incompetent either. I'd also have them pull a heel/face turn near the end, yeah it's cliche but it works.

Use your own judgement, don't get too caught up in fan demands, or you're gonna have 1000 different opinions. Use what you like best.

The idea has been put out, but that is the problem you want to avoid. becuase fan boys are the general target audience, you'll have to get the woman who does ash (at least.. i think its a woman), plus match his character. it would seem the better option to go a different character, same quest logic, becuase then its not hurting the fan boy's favorite characters. You;d have to match Ash with their expectations, and that would require alot of general market research.
