Being that you guys are Canadians, why would Paul care about someone being an AMERICAN badass? ::Scratches head, mystified.:: Wouldn't you be more interested in a Canadian Badass? Assuming that, you know, Canadians could even BE badass. Oh, okay, that's why... nevermind!

You were sayin' somethin', bub?
Depends. Are we talking movie Wolverine or Comics Wolverine? (The picture doesn't show up for me, no matter how long I wait.)

The game was made by Canadians... French Canadians...
Suddenly, that entire trailer makes sense....

That is the best argument against Ubisoft Montreal I have heard.
I have been saying for years, Canada is infected with the french. this is why otherwise normal canadians, made in gods image just like americans, are just slightly inferior to the real thing. That's why europeans dont hate Canadians, they sympathize with them, because despite moving all the way across the world, they could not stave off the cancerous french influence Europe has been suffering from since europe was a THING. America, on the other hand, not only shook off it's franconian ailments, but became TWICE AS POWERFUL as a result of doing so.

In fact, the lingering radiation from Canada's french population is the reason we, as Americans, have not been able to ascend to our rightful state of neo-god beings, and have become trapped in fleshy, sad meat piles. This also explains our obsession with unnatural beauty, as we are subconsciously trying to ACHIEVE said state.

And now, to start a religion and use gullible follower money to buy baguettes

Someone else agrees with me that the next AC game is a bad idea :/ which i really wish it wasn't but WOW do i dislike that setting -_-
I'm curious. Do dislike the setting because you feel it is out of place in the Assassins Creed series, Or do you feel that they were forced to stretch the characters to much in order to fit into a time period that is has much better records than The Crusades or The Renaissance?
A fair question.

I feel that it is out of place in the series. Though that is not entirely my reason it is a part. I feel that for once it might actually be predictable and i don't like that.

I mean from the trailer and gameinformer's articles(let alone the art itself screams it) George washington will turn out to be a templar or atleast an antaginist. Hence the black trench coat they have him in for no other reason than to make him look JUST stereotypically evil enough that when they make the "big reveal" it wont seem unbelievable.

I feel they are just trying to avoid puting guns in the game for as long as possible so they wont have to remake the mechanics of the game. Which sadly is inevitable if they want to go any further into the future. I really like the mechanics currently but even i see that it will have to change if they ever want to just finish desmonds story in the future -_- which i wish they would just jump to already.

-note that i have yet to finish Revalations as i have been busy and have been able to avoid spoilers so who knows, maybe he is already dead or something-

I have further issue that even in the time period they are about to set it in. They ALMOST NEVER used swords; rifles and cannons in lines were the only way they fought unless they were under attack from native americans. I just think that they do infact have to stretch the logical reality of it a bit too much to keep the games general mechanics working in this new setting. While that is inevitable in my eyes, i wished they had simply jumped into the future by now to do an overhaul, and not just stretch the series longer and make the story more "deep" and "complex"

Edit: sorry for making it so long. I've been talking about this with friends and co-workers since the announcement and i've explained my side so many times i honestly can't think of how i phrased it so well before. Even i admit that all that ^ might not be well worded. :( just so dissapointed that this is the direction the series is taking.
The main character DOES have guns. Dual pistols. And there's a screenshot of him with a rifle. He also has a bow. The redcoats we've seen him fighting have been using their bayonets in close combat. He dual wields a tomahawk and knife in close combat. You seem to be assuming that they're keeping the exact same combat mechanics, and you're incorrect. They've said that all parts of the game have been reworked. This isn't an "exapansion game" like Brotherhood or Revelations. This is a sequel.

And George Washington is Conner's ally. Plus he dies in 1799, which is after the game ends, so it's unlikely he'll turn on him. Just because we know he had a PoE at some point doesn't mean he used it for evil, or that he was a Templar.

Yeah...it doesn't make much sense that a French Canadian company is making a game that is set in the timeframe of the American Revolution (Not a bad thing, just kinda ironic).

Now I'm Canadian myself (Just not French), but the irony is just...there...
Why does it not make sense? The nationality of the country hasn't affected where previous games were set... It's to be expected that no time frame/setting is off limits.
Well when you consider that France and Britain went to war against each other when settling in the 'New World', and later those same British colonists revolted and became Americans...it's kinda ironic. ESPECIALLY when you consider that the later-formed Canada and America were on bad terms with each other (Canada was considered loyalist since we got independence through diplomacy, while America was seperatist to Britian through revolution) and now in modern times we have French Canadians (Who may or may not be descended from the original French colonists) are releasing a game about a period in time when everyone was kinda against each other for various reasons.

So overall it's kinda situational irony, but it won't actually affect how good the game will be.

I understand all of that, but calling it irony is kinda a bit of a stretch in my opinion. I mean, there have been french and british characters in previous ACs. And as is reminded at the beginning of every AC game, it was made by a multicultural group of people. Just looking at their interviews you can find french, american, canadian, australian, and many other nationalities, just among the most prominent devs alone.

So, yeah, I get what you're saying, but I don't really consider it ironic. After all, the Revolution involved many, many different countries. Most of the game studios in the western world come from a country involved in it.

I'm surprised no one has mixed the Team America theme song with Assassins Creed 3 yet.
You would be mistaken :)

Wow, that Team America theme song really sums up why people hate America.

Loved the video, anyway. The LRR one, obviously.

Wouldn't worry too much about not knowing what it is, I mean it's only THE GREATEST THING EVER so you're not missing much.

Haha, this one is exceptionally well-written from my standpoint. I learned something. Great stinger, too.
