What is LRR's relation with Finland? It keeps popping around occassionaly and as finnish I'm interested.

Seriously, Canada is one of those countries that seems to be universally liked. Australia too.

Can't remember hearing a cross word about either my entire life. Good people who seem to be liked the world over. That sense of poking fun at themselves is probably part of it.

Well, you still could have come up with something less stereotypical. I may be abrasive about things like this, but it's only because I'm constantly exposed to it, as a Canadian with Irish heritage and a great number of Asian (as in from Pakistan to the Philippines) friends.

You are rather funny people, but relying on these old stereotypes is beneath you.

I suppose you thought the Olympics closing ceremonies were trite and pathetic too, didn't you?

The closing ceremonies were pathetic and insulting to those of us with pride. People in RCMP uniforms rubbing up against Michael Buble? William Shatner talking about sex in a canoe? What an embarrasement, it's the olympics for crying out loud. Like Pheipl said: "I am SORRY I lost just over 5 minutes of my life on this peace of American bull**** (I am not Canadian, I'm European)"
It's gotten bad when people from outside you're borders have to remind you of you're pride.

Quebecors are real men, and real Canadians. 77% describe themselves as Canadian nationalists. A nationalist means "my country, right or wrong" essentially. No wussy, reducing ones own existence jokes, no bullcrap. Just true, Canadian pride and honour. I'm from Alberta, and from those people I've met from Quebec, I can say we have one thing in common. We both have balls, and we both take Canada seriously, and love it with pride and passion. Can the same be said of people who make these lazy jokes? How long would it take them to take up arms in defence of Canada, if they were by themselves as compared to someone from Quebec? I would say much longer, if not at all. Quebecors would not hesitate. They would not have indecision. Can the same be said of you?

Comes from the fact that Canada had tons of immigrants from Finland back in the old days. Well tons and tons, but compared to the population of Finland.

OT: Nice video. And I do like Canada. People are really sorry, I mean polite there. It is amazing. Compared to the finlands policy of not saying anything in any situation, I love the Canadian way to apologize.

That said, our mandate as comedy preformers is to entertain not educate, and the prime target for canadian humour that appeals to audiences outside of canada is national stereotypes. However, there's loads of territory left for us to cover, and we've touched on everything from the history of our national anthem to the canadian heritage minutes that used to air on TV in our canada day episodes, so who knows what we'll do when the time comes next year.

Playing with stereotypes can be fine. Though mostly I just wanted to say some of us American folks do enjoy Canadian humour. We just pretend not to so we don't get beat up as often.

The man's career only spans three decades. If that implies you thought Aliens, The Abyss, The Terminator, Terminator 2'and True Lies are all garbage then I find it quite difficult to find any common ground. Yes, he also made Titanic and Avatar, and while I didn't care for them, its obvious a great many people did. Even if I didn't like those movies, I still don't consider them outright bad by any stretch - they just were't for me.

Just like the US broadcasters watching the closing ceremonies who didn't get it AT ALL. They seriously though we were offering up a heartfelt tribute to our national history instead of mocking every stereotype out there.

Canadians are very good at both mocking ourselves, while being fiercely proud of our country and it's rich history. If you cannot do both at the same time, I feel sorry for you.
