Is it for sale? I don't care if it costs as much as a house, I'd like a stone supposedly possessed by Lucifer. Best Halloween decoration EVER :D
True, but it does kind of just look like someone's pet rock has been naughty.

Even if it is Satan's pet rock.

Oh, the Western Suburbs of Sydney is supposedly host to halfman half beast creatures that roam the streets, drunkenly yelling "Farkovwerful".

Me being from Washington State (And Western Washington at that), I have a good few Bigfoot stories up my alley. Ever hear about Ape Canyon? Or should I say, the now Non-Existant Ape Canyon? Back in the Early 1900's, the canyon and general area around it was a hot spot for Bigfoot sightings until the Helen Eruption which pretty much wiped out the area and a lot of species. Not to say that I don't have my own Bigfoot stories (Hell, I have seen something that looked like it 4 times while living in Washington state, one sighting was even on my birthday. Not saying that I believe all of these to be true encounters, just ones that I don't have an answer to yet).

I go to a historic school in the US. We have tunnels used for transporting troops during the civil war and our study hall was used as a hospital, all sorts of things like that. Naturally lots of ghost stories waft about.
The aforementioned study hall is said to be haunted by the ghost of a nurse for one, and all sorts of freaky shit happened when they tried to remodel the basement (to the point where they gave up and just locked it up)

There is a bridge across a traintrack just down the road from where I live and people say that you can see the ghost of a woman who drowned while she was swimming in the sea. They call the bridge 'Ladies Stairs'.

Actually my area is near some battlegrounds from the Civil War. One where the South slaughtered some troops from the North, with a mass grave where all the dead were placed. One of the dead officers was beheaded, body placed in the grave while the head was sent elsewhere. Which gave birth to a headless horseman which sometimes roams the area. There have been plenty of reports from locals reporting large amounts of gunshots coming from the battlegrounds and horse trotting, some even say they've seen the horseman looking for his head.

Not really my area, but in Ottawa, there is a big hotel, The Château Laurier.
Wikipedia has this to say about its haunting:

The Château Laurier Hotel is said to be haunted, with numerous guests reporting to have seen the ghost of Charles Melville Hays and experiencing paranormal activities. Stories of the haunting began when Charles Melville Hays died on his return voyage on the RMS Titanic from Europe 12 days before the hotel's opening. Stories suggests that Hays' ghost rests within the hotel due to its significant importance to his life, and the fact that he never witnessed the grand opening due to his death. Guests have also reported seeing the ghost of a small child, and experiences the feeling of "being watched" the moment they enter the hotel. Other guests have also reported eerie sounds from the hotel and unexplained shaking.

A long-ass time ago, I was in the 6th grade, and they decided to send us all to some little camp... thing, for a couple days. I remember bits and pieces of it, but I definitely remember the story my cabin's leaders told us. It was the legend of Goatman. I looked up the legend recently, turns out there's a different version originating in North-East USA, but I'm from Wisconsin, and our version is weirder, I think, but still pretty creepy.

From what I recall, basically, this guy's out in the woods with his goats. For some reason, he's bat-squeak insane and decides to eat his legs, replacing bits of it as he went along with pieces of his goats, eventually turning into a sorta satyr/golem hybrid abomination. Oh, and now he's becomes slightly less insane, because instead of feeding on himself or his goats, he feasts on whatever humans are nearby. Conveniently, our camp was right next to a big spooky forest. Lovely.
I'm 12 years old with an imagination so overactive that, at the age of 24, I can WATCH a Let's Play of Amnesia and I become paranoid that a Brute will appear out of thin air and rend my flesh. Oh yeah, I didn't get much sleep that night.

Not too much of a Myth or Legend, but when I was gorwing up I had heard that a serial killer lived about a block away from where I grew up. He was arrested shortly before I was born. Years later I learned that I was actually good friends with the local serial killer's son.

He seemed like a pretty decent guy.

Okay. I actually lived in a legend and myth area when I was younger. And this might sound like a personal story but everyone in the neighborhood got this. You know when people say ?my neighborhood sucks??. Well, they don?t know squat. Before my sister was born I lived with my parents (kind of obvious really) in a neighborhood that seemed like a good place to raise ONE child (we moved when they decided to have another child. THANK GOD!). Now my old neighborhood was haunted. All of it. Because there was some sort of strange cult living there in the 40?s so when the Nazis invaded my country (I live in Norway by the way, hi) they wanted to arrest these people and?.. Let?s just say shit happens. I am not entirely sure actually, heard different endings to that story by every neighbor. Personally I never believed in ghosts. Until this place. At first it was just the stuff you see in the beginning of horror movies. The lights go black, the walls go ??ohhhhohhohhhh? and minor object go missing. Noting special. me being the child my parents obviously accused me of toying with the lights, making noises and stealing things. And I was okay with that if it would have stayed like that. Then, it started physically assaulting me. It beat the shit out of me at night, I could me lying in my bed and suddenly what felt like invisible hands started beating and kicking me from almost inside my own body.
I remember one night in particular. I had been sitting upright against the wall in bed reading a book. I felt hands! 4 invisible hands. Grabbing my 4 limbs (arms and legs for those who didn?t catch that) and holding me down. And a pain from grew in my throat, and continued to grow out over my body to the point where I was in complete pain. Then it stopped. I was free. I rolled out of the bed and on to the floor. The pain was gone. Never felt anything again.
My ex kept telling me to get exorcised after I told her. He?s thought I was possessed. You think she's right?

I can't think of any legends right now, other than the escaped "black panther" mentioned by F'Angus which apparently has territory ranging into the South West too unless there's two or something...

Before my parents divorced I lived in a small upper middle class, heavily forested town with many historic properties. Anyway, due to virtually all the acreage being historic, getting development rights is incredibly difficult. So much so that I would guess about 85% of it is completely untouched. Now, the area was first settled almost 200 years ago, and there was occasional conflict with native Americans, so the area ended up having a bit of military protection. Supposedly, somewhere off in one of the undeveloped areas, there is an abandoned weapons stockpile left over from that era.

Also, supposedly there are Indian burial grounds in the town's vicinity, which I do not at all doubt.

And yes, I did go of into the woods looking for this stockpile as a kid, more than once in fact. I then made up my own legend about how the woods were home to 'itch demons' who come out at night to inflict rashes on the unwary and plant poison ivy seeds with every step to wreak itchy, swollen vengeance on those who desecrated their Indian masters' land.

Here's a recent one from my area

This was a picture taken at the castle near where I live in 2010 by a team of "ghosthunters".It appears to show a mans face in the window.Thing is the castle was closed at the time so there was no one inside plus there is no floor at that level so no way of reaching that window. Also they supposedly recorded EVP inside the castle as well

I'm about 50 miles away from Point Pleasant, WV home of the Mothman [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mothman].

Do homeless men who'd become a recognizable part of the city count? If so, there's Aqualung (Bill Dunn, nicknamed because he resembled the cover of the album Aqualung), who lived in Charleston, WV since the 70s until relatively recently (he was reported missing in 2007 -- I want to reiterate this, a local homeless man was reported missing because people noticed his absence from the city and were concerned with his well being). All manner of interesting stories out there about him, how he ended up here, and what happened to him (he never talked much about himself). Everyone knew him though, if they spent any time in town, or went to any of the local minor league baseball games (he attended them religiously).

Another nearby town is essentially centered around an Adena burial mound.

In my area we have a thing called the Billy-Ghost. What it is is you go out to this old isolated road and there's this sign there with a big red X spraypainted on it. (This is a real location mind you)

Park next to it turn the car and all electronics off and roll all the windows down, after some amount of time, (1 or 5 minutes I can't remember) You're supposed to hear a bloodcurdling scream directly outside your car.

I don't know anyone personally who's attempted it just someone who knows someone though it is a real urban legend around here.
