LOL JUICE! NOW WITH NO BAD STUFF! [http://www.news.com.au/story/0,27574,25184076-36398,00.html]
A new product to have hit the markets recently is 'LOL Juice'. Coming in radical flavors such as 'Tropkl', 'Razz Bri', and 'Go Man Go' this must surely be a hit with the young'ns.

I just Google'd 'Go Man Go' to get this. [http://www.disobey.com/detergent/2003/gomango.jpg] Yay for making a drink flavor a adult novel as well. Smart move juice company who will remain anonymous.

But seriously. What were they thinking? I first saw the word LOL and instinctively went to buy it until I saw the flavor name and the ridiculous face on it. And the fact its just carbonated juice with a heap more sugar. How heaps? Try 26 grams of sugar per 250mL can.

Back on what I was saying. Trying to target the younger audience to get into drinking juice with 1) a gimmicky name (LOL), 2) Names obviously made by a geratric who 'knew' all the slang kids are using these days, and 3) making it look like an energy drink with the alluminium casing and (In stores) putting it with the energy drinks.

When I tried interviewing one of the kids who had recently drunk the stuff I was responded to with a scream followed by 'GIMME LOL! I WANT SUGAR!'. Enough said? Seriously, in the provided picture (see above) the kids look hyped up on sugar just looking at the damn thing.

Oh and on the can the 'No Bad Stuff' slogan is clearly a lie. The 26 grams of sugar and the faces of the kids drinking it clearly shows there must be either a lot of sugar or a lot of weed [http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_eqvwuZr0jQk/RmKlZd2H-iI/AAAAAAAAAXI/7ytiQgvOZRM/s400/Cannabis%2BTea_low.jpg] in it.

Whats your opinion on this?

Lol

Seriously, I was going to leave the post as that. But I thought I'd say that it's an interesting marketing idea.

They sell that at my school, even though there is multiple flavours they are all 90% or more apple juice. They still taste bad anyway.

Until they start marketing these like this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6s5w6wjY1kU] they don't get "AWESOME" in my books. And yes, it is just marketing. Like calling food "gourmet" this is designed to appeal to a younger generation who talk in webspeak and seem to have as little between their ears as they soon will between their jaws if they keep drinking it.

Alas that it'll be popular due to gimmick alone.

Why else would someone think this is a good idea?
Older teens won't want to be seen with a can that winks at them using a dodgy emoticon that has been flipped 90 degrees.
Younger kids just want sugar and may not even understand what LOL means.
Congratulations for bringing intarrwebz speech to a new generation, LOL.

I'm holding out for them to release ROFL, the new even more sugary varient.
They'll also come out with another one, 'LMAO', the healthier 'sugar free' version (or so they say).

I don't see why it was nessercary to title it 'LOL' to try to appeal to the younglings, if you cram enough sugar into a drink then it wouldn't matter if you put Hitler's picture on the front and called it 'AIDS-Extra strength', they'll still crash them down one after another (much to the dismay of parents and dentists).
