I knew it wasn't going to be a good conversation when he told me he was cosplaying as "Pinkamena from 'cupcakes' wearing Rainbow-Dash's skin"
Oh please; we all know Pinkamena is best pony.

Don't be a girl and dress like a pony because weird people will corner your boyfriend while you're in the toilet and demand a threesome with you.

Is that a genuine anecdote? D:
This is 100% true. The worst part is i think he was more interested in me D: I knew it wasn't going to be a good conversation when he told me he was cosplaying as "Pinkamena from 'cupcakes' wearing Rainbow-Dash's skin"

The dude asked for my MSN. I would have been more creeped out but all i cold think was "Who in the blue fuck still uses MSN?!" Anyway... i told him no and he seemed genuinely upset, thankfully he moved on before my lovely Girlfriend dressed as a very smashing Fluttershy returned from utilizing the water closet.
Golly. I'll be sure to take my good old stabbing knife to ward off the creepers xD

I really, REALLY wanted to go, but sadly I have 7 exams over 2 weeks the week after MCM so I'm much too busy with revision. Missing out on TWO Street Fighter tournaments because of this! I even have a half finished Dante cosplay! :(

Oh well, anyone going to Alcon in September? I'll be there for the whole weekend!

This year will be my first con ever. To say that I'm bricking it is an understatement.

Interestingly, I learned that one of the women I work with is also going to MCM this year - by the sounds of it, her costumes will blow mine out of the water, but I'm not too bothered. I love dressing up because it's fun, not because I want to be the best.

I do fear I'm going to be overwhelmed by all the shiny things, and that I'll probably get lost in the crowd, but it'll make for an interesting experience...

*leans over to block MSN hosting window from view* Ahem, yeah, like, get with the times, man! >_>;;

I've never had any trouble with creepers at MCM, although I often wonder if I exude an air of awkward unapproachableness, even amongst 'nerds'.
The most attention I get from strangers is being asked for photos when I cosplay (and I am happy to oblige), even when my costumes look like crap (the first time I attempted it I tried to dress as a Gardevoir pokémon and it was pretty awful. One person even took the picture before going "Uh... and... what actually are you?")

I'm actually surprised to hear that the London one is worst for overly friendly people 'cause Londoners aren't typically a friendly lot, but I guess more people from small towns are more likely to travel to the London one 'coz better travel links and such.

As I mentioned to you Timelord before in another thread, I shall be going again this year for the weekend :D

We should all meet up at some point or something.

I was completely overwhelmed my first time two years ago, i'd never witnessed so many of my interests and nerdiness piled in one place before with likewise people... and the merchandise... jesus christ I was running around all the stalls all day...

This was at Midlands MCM. The con was great and very fan-orientated but it had some growing problems this year since it seemed too popular for it's venue.
I agree on the Midlands one, wasn't too bad on the floor area (it was to be expected) but far too many people decided it was a good idea to chill on the main walkway area in or out of the main shop area. Then again this was an issue with London on the Saturday too (i actually avoided the main Expo on Saturday and went round London).
