The guy I always remember most was RAKtheundead (I've lurked without an account since 2009 ish). With his feelings towards women he'd never have made it through the sea of feminism threads that exist today. I'm quite bitter when it comes to relationships and other people gloating about their happiness, I'll hold my hands up to that, but RAKtheundead, he even made me think "dude, too much".
Wasn't he one of the main supporters for the Advice Sub-forum so he wouldn't have too look at relationship threads in OT anymore?

He was a proper humbug but I do miss his crabby ways.

I recognise all of the names in these threads but I can never think of ones myself, I just see them posted and think "oh yeah, that guy".

I've been on the Escapist for a long time, although I've apparently managed to be one of those people who posts a lot and is never remembered. ;_;

Anyways, I remember a lot of fallen people. Eggo, Darth Mobius and Jalill (or however you spell her name)...There's quite a few more I remember as well, like Indigo_Dingo. When you've been around for years, you see people come and go. Like dust in the wind. All we are is dust in the wind.

Oh, and we can't forget TaxiDriver, hahaha.
Careful saying his name. It's like Beetlejuice, it can summon him. And if you're on the IRC at the right time of night, you'll actually see him, online and chatting.
Oh, fantastic. Are we going to have to re-strengthen the wards around #escapist again? You know I'm running low on eye of megatoad.

There are quite a few I remember seeing a lot of back in t'day before all these dern kids started messin' up t'lawn. They acquire personal problems, drift away or forget how to internet, and that makes me sad.
Like Ultrajoe, who managed to convince us all that he was actually "Ultrajosephine" via a stand-in at the first-ever Escapism and some trickery; Labyrinth, who was almost as terrifying online as in real life; Beefcakes, who I'm fairly sure just couldn't bring himself to break 1000 posts; Anonymoustache (known to some IRCers as "Tickles") with her... refreshing take on reality; and Greyfox105, who I believe changed her username to something else but I've seen little of over the last year or so.

And then there are others, mainly Escapismers, who I don't see post but see in the real meatspace on occasion. So we haven't exactly lost contact.

[sub][sub]Aaaand that's my one post for the month. Off into the aether with me![/sub][/sub]
Man, I remember being at Escapism! Labyrinth taught me the ways of Let's Go Jungle, I (unsuccessfully) challenged Indigo_Dingo to a console war (he threatened to throw me into the Darling River), and everyone laughed at my reaction to Ultrajosephine. What can I say? I was 16 at the time and UJ and I used to chat all the time about writing stuff, it never occurred to me from his writing style that he'd be of the female persuasion. Nowadays I know better.

Speaking of Ultrajoe, I definitely miss chatting with that guy. He was genuinely cool.

My fondest Escapist memories were that of The Ratings War and the first Escapist Election. PurpleRain, mscherbatskaya, FeNinja, Larenxis, Hey Joe, NewClassic, Darth Mobius (who turned out to be a bit of a dick in retrospect) and Khedive Rex, among others, bring back the fondest memories of that time. I wonder what they're all doing now?

I do kind of miss this place. I definitely miss what I remember of it, but you do have to move on at some point. I was barely 15 when I first joined this site, 14 if you count my lurking in 2007. And now I'm 21! It's kind of exciting to see what was once a tightly-knit community where literally everyone recognized one another into the sprawling behemoth it is today. Now I just stick around for Zero Punctuation and that poetry thing he does.

I just want to say that I like reading threads like these. It makes me very glad that even with all the trite nonsense in the world, a small group of people can find compassion and acceptance among peers.

It also makes me quite happy that my streak for anonymity is still going strong. Internet high-fives for everybody.[typeface:forced_enthusiasm>>return_to_hole>>hashtagi'mstillrelevant]

That election thread really was bottled lightning, never to be replicated. I wonder the same about most of those.

Phew, I'm glad PurpleRain isn't forgotten.

PurpleRain and Larenxis are living together in Vancouver. I visited them at the end of 2010 and Purps visited home mid 2011 and I still keep in contact with them. For those who don't know/remember, PurpleRain met Larnexis on this site, they fell in love, sold everything he owned and moved from a little town in Australia all the way to Vancouver. Purps is one of my best friends and it's so great to see how happy he is.

I'm doing fine by the way

MaxTheReaper comes to mind for me. Fun guy. His posts were always amusing and he just exuded personality, even if that was sometimes bad.

Haha I remember you, I think we had an argument about song lyrics or poetry or something once.
Oh god, probably.

I was most likely wrong, so sorry about that.

What actually happened to Ultrajoe? I know he's been gone for ages, but I never learned why.

Given that I've been around here for quite a while but don't tend to post that much, this is what I generally experience: I'll come back to the forums and find that people have disappeared for some reason.

Wow, that's actually really sweet. I never really new Rain, I just always thought of him as being very much one of the forum's old guard. He seemed like a really good guy, I'm glad he's doing well.
