Long hair on men?

My long lustrous blonde locks were once upon a time something to behold, I -loved- my hair and when washed & conditioned it was utterly, utterly glorious.
Of course there were those times where I couldn't stand having long hair so eventually I got the chop, I still remember that day and the stranger in the barber shop asking if he could have my hair.

Some guys can pull it off. I'd say about one in ten. Two out of ten look like women, four out of ten are already too old, two out of ten simply look ridiculous and one in ten looks like Jesus. Whether that last one is good or bad I leave to you.

I used to have long hair, down to my waist long. But I eventually got it cut because it started getting in the way. People said it suited me though, I just didn't get it cut because I'm not a fan of haircuts. Having a stranger with scissors next to my head snipping away wasn't something I was a fanoff. I might be slightly biased for this, but yes. I fucking love my long, thick hair. Was almost one meter long last time I meassured it.

If it fits depends a lot on your type of hair and body build... but in either case, keep it clean!

As a lady who's dated long haired guys, I say yes.

But guys, KEEP IT CLEAN, AND TIE IT BACK WHEN NEEDED. Guys who have long hair need to care for it properly, otherwise you look like you've been stranded on an island for your whole life.

Also, don't be ridiculous with having it down. It's sexy and cool to let it down when you're relaxed or when it's freshly styled, but PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD don't go to black tie events or professional places with it down and messy. It's kinda looks like a boy playing dress up/a metal kid who's dad made him wear a suit. And to be honest, a dapper looking guy with a neat ponytail is reeeeally sexy.


But I think the most important thing is that you do whatever you think works well on you. Is the long hair complimentary to your face/fashion style? or does the long locks make you look slobbish?

Oh, and if you wear a lot of baggy clothes/sweat pant material, you WILL look like a teenage metalhead.

I used to have long hair when I was younger. I still would if my job didn't require me to have short hair, so now I have a military style buzz cut thing going, something like Henry Rollins.

yeah, there is a friend of mine who has long hair, though how well he pulls it off varies. it's kinda thin, and he has bleached it once, and dyed it about 3 times in the last year. right now it's scarlet. not a bad look though.

It's kinda freeing to let it down when you have it tied back almost all the time, you actually feel free-er and in a fun mood during it.

I had shoulder length hair for a while and it looked pretty good. However, it requires quite a bit of maintenance or it becomes terrible and that's the main reason I had it cut.

I really dislike dreadlocks though, the thought of having a wax like substance in my hair and purposefully not washing it for days to weeks is quite nasty.

I tried it once, but my hair is too curly to look nice when it gets longer. When I keep it short it forms into nice, even ringlets, but when it grows out it gets huge and turns into a completely unmanageable mane.

I've met a bunch of Finnish guys with long, straight blonde hair, though, and it looked great on them.

Well I think it's fine, some look better than others, but to each his own. I have long hair that goes to the middle of my back and I've been told that I look good. I think one of the things that helps is my beard. I think if a man has long hair but no beard he looks a little strange, but with a beard he usually looks alright. To be honest I think that I'd look weird if I cut my hair.

Beards help. If it looks Norse enough, you can usually pull the look off and be rewarded with admiration and fear from your fellow man...so I hear.

I'm biased. I grow mine out for about half a year or so and then cut it short again, cyclically.

So, yes, I think long hair on men looks fine if they take care of it and can pull it off. If it's just a huge grease ball then... No. I have a friend like that. If he took the time with it he'd look damn good is the sad part. Guy's got a good face.

In real life, however, it's mostly... three ways this goes:

1) dude wears long hair, looks ridiculous
2) dude wears long hair, looks neat, until you find out it's all smelly and gunky and not quite what you'd (want to) expect
3) dude wears long hair, looks awesome, smells nice, is gay.

Yeah, well, that about sums it up for me. I'm happy with short-haired or bald guys. With age, I've come to pay more attention to the downstairs department, because that's where the performance is. A cute guy is something to look at, which isn't quite enough to father your children.

I have it. I think it looks fine on me. Maybe. I don't think there's any reason women can have long hair, but men can't. So, yeah.

I have long hair, it grows at a truly batshit quick rate for a man.

For example i had it trimmed to 2 inches at the end of summer, its now back to 5 inches.

And if "pulling it off" refers to having it mostly straight but with a slight mess, my hair is like that with no input from me at all.

Lucky. That definitely does not apply to all males. Mine takes forever to grow, one of the main reasons I colour my hair is so that I can see how far the roots have grown because once it gets to a certain length it really starts to slow down. Around the point where my hair is just past my eyes takes 3/4 of a year to get to sometimes. Sooo slooow. Although I am also blessed in ways because colouring my hair would be a pain if my hair grew fast. I only need to colour it once every 3 months really.

I like having long hair myself, but on other people I really don't have an opinion. Most guys that have long hair manage to pull of this 'masculine' look with it, since most guys don't like to look or be called girly. I don't have this fear and I am far from masculine.

I have trichotillomania, so I spent many years shaving my hair off. I hated it and wished to have hair, so last new years one of my resolutions was to grow my hair as long as I could bare it and try my best not to ruin it with my trich. I have had a few bad weeks, but so far so good.
