I'm ashamed I understood that perfectly.
It was agonizing to type and actually took a lot longer than if I had simply typed it in plain English.

This is pretty much New Speak. Just as George Orwell predicted. DAMN YOU INTERWEBS!!
We're not striving towards one single word to express everything. Almost a good point, I must say.

I don't feel like the Internet is affecting my grammar. Of course I use the abbreviation "lol" a lot more than before, but apart from that I can't see any changes in my grammar.

You know the funny thing about language? We made it up. What constitutes as good language is more or less an arbitrary decision. It's also always subject to change, always has been.

I do understand why people prefer "proper style" and am an advocate of it to an extent as well. It's easy to understand, because I'm used to it and it has an elegant feel to it when used properly. What annoys me is that people think that there's only one correct style to write or talk in and that it should be conserved by all means. Those people just don't really get language.

I will set fire to the internet before I allow that to be considered proper grammar.

Now, you may be thinking to yourself "iamnotincompliance... that is an incredibly stupid name, you do realize that, don't you?" Yes I do, but it's far too late to do anything about that now. You might also be thinking "iamnotincompliance, just how do you propose to set fire to the internet?" I grant you it won't be easy, but rest assured, with a little due diligence, it can be done. Yes, there are some things I'll miss, like this place, but life goes on.

And if you're one of those thinking "iamnotincompliance, first off, you can't start a sentence with 'and', and second, who are you to propose such massive pyromania when you can't even capitalize your own stupid name?" I would be one to propose such massive pyromania, not because I'm too lazy to tap the shift key, but because it gives that suave, cool e.e. cummings vibe. Also, you can start a sentence with "and" for dramatic effect. You're just supposed to use it nearly as often as I do, ruining the effect for everyone else.

Now let's hear no more of this silliness.
I will gladly aid you in your quest, if ever the day should come.

That is kind of what made me think of this topic. I have had to read primary source documents from around the year 1000 B.C.E. It was a pain.

Later on i read some documents from the 1500's and then the 1700's. All of this was in English, but it was almost like an entirely different language. Not only were the words different, but the thoughts were organized in an entirely different way from time period to time period.

We are clearly not speaking English in its "finished form" so i wonder what the people in the future will sound like.

And "lol" will simply become an acceptable word.
Interestingly I just read a cracked article about this. Smileys have been around for atleast 100 years. Proposed as a way to express humour in text, in books, but I guess it didn't take off completely.

English is a dynamic language, and it's a mongrel of a language, stealing words and roots from everywhere. It's just going to get more insane and hard to learn for foreigners when more e-speak gets put in the dictionary.

Should make interesting scrabble/boggle.

Is massive really a concept that can be applied to pyromania?
